Thanks to everyone that replied, and for the opinions given. I guess that I will try and straighten the passenger's side at lest to make a beater. The strange part is that just one small part of the chrome sprue is warped, the steering wheel and the grill inserts are also warped. The rest of the kit looks good.

I bought these kits today. The Johan Plymouth was painted only on the body, the rest is still on the trees. One of the Hemi under glass kits was built, but fairly clean. The rest of the kits were all sealed inside. And I bought the newest issue of MCM at HTU. It was a good day for me.

2000-cvpi replied to mopar01lee's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Nice looking build, the added details are really looking great. I will follow the build from now on. Keep up the good work. -
Who would be interested?
2000-cvpi replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like the idea. I would be interested in one. The one idea that had been forgotten is the "free candy†van. -
I can't wait for the finished story ( ok the model also). Back when I joined I read one of your story's and had to search the rest out. The combination of the model build and great story makes following the progress very fun. Keep up the great work.

Nice job with my favorite kit. If I built models like that at 14 I would have been very happy.

Are We Model Hoarders?
2000-cvpi replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hopefully I will still be young enough to dumpster dive. -
I just got mine at the local HT USA. I like the mag even if it is late. Sometimes delayed gratification makes things better.

I just got the caprice today from HL also.

Are We Model Hoarders?
2000-cvpi replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
After some thought about this topic, I have concluded that I buy kits when I can because in twenty or thirty years there may not be any new models coming out. In thirty years I will only be sixty. So hopefully I will still be around and able to build. I do think that at some point I will reach the maximum number of boxed kits that my wife will tolerate in the house. When that happens I will move them to the garage. -
Are We Model Hoarders?
2000-cvpi replied to mrmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am younger (30) than the average modeler on here, but I did not have the period of time (the distracting girl years) away from the hobby. I still got married, had two great kids and built models at the same time. So I have acquired about 250 unbuilt kits, 150 ish built models to rebuild and a ton of parts. So far my collection has stayed out of the rest of the house, my model room is not full yet. So I think I am not a hoarder, maybe a combo of collector and builder. -
I found these though Craigslist. A total of 19 kits, a large box of parts and three tubes of older than dirt Testors tube glue. The kits are: two Monogram 1926 Mack trucks, one tanker, one dump truck Set of AMT Budweiser semi and trailer, both complete. 1940 Willys coupe, complete. AMT Novacaine, only missing the rear slicks. 1957 Ford Fairlane, built 1962 Ford Thunderbird promo, dirty but all there Two Chevelles, both built. 1967 Pontiac Bonneville, built. Pontiac GTO convertable, built. 1960 Chevrolet El Camino, missing the hood. Kenworth snap semi, built. A misc funny car, built. Trailer the older stock car one, built. A unknown older race car. Revell 1932 Ford coupe with no box Tamiya tank motor kit, nib The box of parts was full of early sixties extra parts from 3 in 1 kits. It was a local guy that found them in an estate sale. I think I did pretty good on the kits. It definitely made my Friday night.

I bought some old used Model Master paint from my lhs. It was open but was still good. It was older paint.

I really like these four builds, the tow cars are very cool. All four are very cleanly built. I am going to have to buy at least one of each.
-
I bought one from Tuesday Morning, and for ten bucks there is enough parts for the money. I was hoping for rubber drag tires, but I was not too disappointed. I don't think that I will build I it. It is more of a parts kit for me.

George, it has happened to me before with the cheap packs of dollar store super glue as well. I had an older tube of the Testors clear window glue just like the new one freeze last winter.
-
I bought a new tube of Testors window glue last night at my lhs. I forgot it in the car last night and found it this morning. Needless to say it was frozen solid. Is there any way to save the glue? I tried letting it defrost with no help, it looks like it is ruined. Any and all ideas are welcome.

If they make the Ranchero, I can make the Falcon that Odd Job drove in Goldfinger. I have always wanted to make that car. It started my Falcon obsession when I was younger. There was something wrong with me, out of all the cars in Goldfinger, I picked a Falcon to lust after.

Expired paint?
2000-cvpi replied to shatteredsoul76's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have never had any problems with older paint. Currently I have several cans of old spray paint from Testors, lots of the small jars of paint going as far back as ten cents a jar. All are just fine. Maybe I am just lucky. -
While grocery shopping at Meijers I found a left over Camaro kit that had been opened. The kit was all there and it was only six dollars. It was the only kit left over from Meijers Christmas stock.
