  1. I mocked up the wheels and tires tonight after assembling the suspension. I made my own axles to replace the metal rods that run through the engine and rear axle. I an still trying to decide if I should use chrome stock rims or painted rims. I mocked up each side with the tires that I am going to use from the two latest AMT parts pack tire sets. I forgot to mention that any and all feedback would be most welcome. I have no problem with constructive criticism, good or bad. So fire away.
  2. For me, it's the challenge of making the best finished model I can with what the kit has to offer. I like the history of the model car hobby and the older kits just have something to them that draws me to an older kit. It doesn't matter to me if it is a pain to assemble I still like figuring out how to put the pieces together.
  3. Not to be a jerk, but I will believe it when I see the kits in a lhs or online. Imc has been real quiet since the model show they were at. Now if they do come out with those kits, I would buy a boat load of each.
  4. I bought the latest copy at Barnes and noble yesterday. They only had one left, which could be a good thing if they got lots of copies.
  5. Great job, I love the subject. Leaving the turquoise as the color was a great idea.
  6. That looks realistic. Painting the door red is a nice touch.
  7. I unloaded my treasure from Craigslist. I looked at each kit carefully, and only four of them have been started, two 1986 Monte Carlos, 49 Mercury and the 72 Chevrolet pickup. I am pretty excited to have gotten these kits for less than five bucks each. I am so giddy I can't stand it.
  8. I normally don't check Craigslist for models, but I was up late building last night and couldn't sleep. So I did what any hopelessly addicted model car nut would do, I surfed Ebay and Craigslist for kits. I found a add for a guy cleaning up his basement and had some leftover models. So I went over today and bought all that he had. Thirty five kits heavier and $170.00 lighter, I have this box full of unbuilt kits. I will post better pictures in a few minutes when I carry the box down to my model room.
  9. That looks really good. I am going to steal your idea of making the rear deck look like the steel underside if you don't kind. It looks realistic and very well done. The stance of the car is also very tough looking.
  10. Most of the time with the older kits I use the metal axles, but this one has holes you could drive a real Rambler through. I just can't leave them like this, they are over a quarter of an inch. I did raise the drivers seat headrest. I always do when I drive actual cars, and on this kit the headrests are adjustable. I figured why not.
  11. That looks great. Have you thought about adding some decals to it? Like "Los Angeles County Coroner". That would look great in my opinion.
  12. This is my first work in progress on the internet. I bought a lot of Johan Ramblers on Ebay a while back. After sorting through the loose parts that I won, there was enough to build about seven complete kits, and six more close enough kits. This is the best of the lot. I painted the body a champagne color and the interior is a red brown.
  13. Does anyone know what show he will be at next? I am interested in seeing what he has left to sell.
  14. Three are my favorite kits to build. I have at least two of each if not five of each kit listed. All ten are built at least twice. 1 Johan 68 Plymouth police car 2 Revell 69 Nova, COPO and SS 3 Lindberg 1997 Ford Crown Victoria 4 Johan 1970 Oldsmobile 442 5 Johan 1960 Plymouth wagon 6 amt 1962 Pontiac Catalina super duty 7 amt 1936 ford coupe 8 amt 1966 Fairlane 9 Johan 1963 Oldsmobile Starfire 10 Revell Hemi Dart
  15. Hobby Lobby has reset the model stock, I went there and made three trips with 40% coupon. The total was under sixty dollars.
  16. I have that book. My dad read that to me when I was little. I am glad at least that stream shovel wasn't turned into a furnace at city hall.
  17. That is very nice. I really like the idea, execution and each car is very well detailed. I have always thought that a car hauler of AMC's would be cool.
  18. I just bought one from hobby lobby today, it was 16.97 with tax. Not to bad for a kit that I have lusted after since hearing that it was being re released.
  19. I went to hobby lobby today and was surprised to find that they are changing their model stock for the first time in at least a year. They had the one run only 1/16 Charger, and the reissue Studebaker Avanti. After checking online on my phone for a 40% off coupon, I got them both for slightly less than 40.00, it was a surprise that they had new kits.
  20. I lost a sprue clipper, two sanding sticks and a small bottle of CA glue once. I used a old kit box to hold them and after two weeks of looking for them I found the box back on one of my kit storage shelves. My wife saw the box on the floor and put it back on the shelf. I had bought another sprue cutter the same day I found my old pair.
  21. I am glad this kit is being reissued. I don't have any of the earlier issues and wasn't going to pay the crazy prices for one. I'll have to buy several to hedge against the future rise in this kits price.
  22. I would love any Pinto, Volare, Vega, or any seventies American car or truck. All of the craftsman series kits would be great.
  23. My local hobby lobby is going to stock this kit. I will be getting everyone that they have.
  24. Here is my safe haven (bench). I've had the table since I was ten. I used to build kits and do homework at the same time on it.
  25. I've got to many kits. Right now my collection is 183. I sold about 150 or so early last year when I counted all my unbuilt kits and had over 300. I cut my number in half, and have been adding back to it ever since. I changed my outlook from having too many to not enough. Now I am kinda hoarding all I can get because I wonder what this hobby will look like in thirty years with most of the demographic not buying kits due to the age of most modelers now may not be around by then. At least that's my current reason for buying more than I build.
