  1. 1.) 2003 silver birch Mercury Marauder (I already owned one and never should have sold it) 2.) Any SSJ Duesenberg, I would be happy no matter the color. 3.) 2004 Lincoln Towncar, last of the real Towncars before Lincoln decontented them. 4.) 2012 Toyota 4Runner for the wife and kids. 5.) Chrysler Airflow coupe. That's should do it for the next fifty years of my life.
  2. I completely agree. These kits are nice to see what actually is in the box. I have a gold promo of this kit, the promo and kit share many of the same parts.
  3. Am I the only one that looks at these pictures and pick out the kits that I would like to buy? I love these topics, its fun to see what others have and how they choose to store their collections.
  4. I finally figured out Photobucket and I can add what I have picked up over the last six weeks or so. I bought s box of the other magazine going back to the SAE era at the Kalamazoo toy show along with four of the reissued 1970 Ford police cars. The rest is from trades, several local hobby shops.
  5. I don't like it, the car zero style. I can't tell it apart from any other modern car. Where it's the chrome and tailfins? Back in my day cars had style, now they stink, blah blah grumpy set in my ways old man talk. Seriously that is really good looking, from the front at least. Not to sure about the Camaro taillights.
  6. Lock your toolbox. Buy a strong magnet, make him find the tools. Involve him next time you have a repair project and show him the uses for tools and the importance of taking care of them. Is exactly what I would do with my two children. My daughter has helped with simple things like changing the oil, rotating the tires, etc.
  7. That's too bad, it might be a sign that they are not going to carry then again. The stores here did not sell very many kits. They also did not have the kit selection that they had last year.
  8. No, no that is clearly impossible. The wonderful cars of the past were perfectly styled, all very distinctive cars that newer cars could not start to be compared to. Anything else is just bland.
  9. Its about an hour and a half from me. My wifes uncle is a dentist in DeWitt, so we go there twice a year. It is a little to far to go to get another 49 Mercury (I already have five) and the rest I would be buying just for parts to use in other kits. I checked all of the four Meijers here without finding anything that was worth the money. Thanks for the help, I apperciate it.
  10. I checked my local Meijers, the kits were all Vipers and snap kits. They did not have any of the 50 Fords or the Mustangs. I will have to save my money for the Hobby Lobby after Christmas sale. They have a ton of extra kits and they will clearance them off after Christmas.
  11. What does car prices have to do with car styling? It is a personal opinion of a cars apperance, not the value of the car.
  12. I am fairly sure that is not cheating. It is no different than waiting until the auctioneer is about to call sold in a live auction and bidding. It is just another tactic to winning an auction.
  13. I like it, a lot. It's not like the new Toyota Camry, a lousy Hyundai or another bland soul less econo box. Even though its an older design, it is much better than the average beige sedan. Something tells me that in the early 1970's there were guys that complained about the new Chevrolet Impala not looking as good as the 1935 Chevrolet.
  14. I have at least three stalled projects, the oldest is about three years old. I look at it, pick it up, fiddle with it, but I never get anywhere with it.
  15. The local Hobby Lobby has ten or so of these kits. I have picked up two so far using the 40% off coupon. It's a great kit, even more so for the price of less than 15 dollars. The other local hobby shops have several at retail or above.
  16. I want to continue to buy more kits than I build.
  17. As a kid I used to ride my bike to the riders on Kilgore and Westnedge. I loved that place, now its a Christian bookstore. I have been to the riders in GR, it's a great hobby shop. Kalamazoo has two actual hobby shops left, not counting HTU and Hobby Lobby.
  18. That's some nice work there. Keep it up.
  19. I would've drove that baby blue Ford, and made it look good.
  20. I was excited when they opened, but after checking out their prices my enthusiasm died. I buy my kits from swap meets, a few collection buyers, and Hobby Lobby. The LHS's around here charge way too much compared to other sources for the exact same thing. There is one local hobby shop that is reasonable, but he doesn't carry many kits. I have more in progress build than kits that he has in his shop. I do buy almost all my model supplies from that hobby store though.
  21. I've airways thought that those would work great for something, I just never could think of what I could put in those drawers. I passed on a really nice one at an estate sale this summer and I am beginning to regret doing so.
  22. Why would the US not be safe? People wanting your money or something else?
  23. Tell me about it. They opened up in a large strip mall with what must be a huge rent payment because every kit is 10 to 25% higher than retail. The Moebius Tim Flock Chrysler kit was 44.95 when it came out. I only go there to by Model Car magazine and very little else.
