suggestions anyone...
2000-cvpi replied to outlaw035's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe hire some retired umpa loompa's to hold the models up? -
I bought a lot of 14 Johan ramblers off Ebay. The seller was less than 100 miles away from me and they tossed everything into a box with no packing what so ever. Five of the bodies were damaged, and the one piece of tape on the bottom almost came undone. Needless to say I left accurate feedback. I still got enough of a deal that I couldn't complain.

Concrete would work, it's cheap and not plexi glass. -

I couldn't agree more. It's time to put back on the big boy pants fellas. This is a hobby that's main purpose is to be enjoyable. -
Nice looking interior. The paint scheme for the body is a very unique, but good choice. I will have to look for one of these 1/8 scale kits.

When buying a new car.....
2000-cvpi replied to uncle potts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have owned every version of the panther platform except the Lincoln. I had a 1993 unmarked dark green police Crown Vic, 2000 white police Crown Vic, 1998 black Grand Marquis with the handling and performance package, 2003 Mercury Marauder, 2005 beige.unmarked police package Crown Vic. I only regret selling the Marauder and the Grand Marquis. They were the best handling and performing cars.I have ever driven. -
When buying a new car.....
2000-cvpi replied to uncle potts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I used to own a 2003 Mercury Marauder (a Grand.Marquis with the 4 cam 4.6 v8) in the rare color of silver birch. There were only 417 built in 2003, and just over 1100 for the two year production run of the Marauder. I still miss that car, it was the best car I could ever own. I have a sinking feeling that it will become my own version of a muscle car that will gain value over time. -
I am going to go, I just don't know if I will enter the contest. I know that there are going to be dealers there selling kits. That is my main reason for going.

Not my first trade, but here is my list. Or at least who I can remember from the old trader thread. Please remind me if I missed someone. Rt6pk George53

That's a great deal for those books. The bottom row is a good group of books.

What was your best kit
2000-cvpi replied to eizzle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I built the Johan 68 Plymouth police car twice as a kid. Both were glue bombs, but that helped one of them to make it to today, I am restoring it from a flat black and white police car to a light green slant six base model. I have three built ups, and two unbuilts that are waiting their turn in my stash. I have great memories of playing with green army guys and those police cars. -
whats in the stash.....sniff sniff?
2000-cvpi replied to blueoval92's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is my kit stash. There are a few others that I keep in a cabinet because they are older. The shelf is two kits deep, about 225 kits or so. It's not the largest stash, but it's good enough for me. -
I am glad I'm not the only one that does this. My cheapness knows no bounds, I did that three times in a row once. I have also given a twenty to my six year old daughter to take advantage of the coupon herself.

'56 DeSoto Fireflite sedan-detailed Johan promo
2000-cvpi replied to realgone58's topic in Model Cars
That is awesome, very good work. -
It's coming along nicely, putting a straight six in there was the right thing to do. I am looking forward to setting how this turns out. My opinion e would be to use the left over falcon to recreate the gasser, that would look sweet and put the leftovers to good use.

The last time I built a kit and replace the axle, I noticed exactly what you mentioned. This time I beefed the evergreen with some copper wire sandwiched by evergreen. Thank you for the advice, I appreciate it.
-
This is the new front axle. I made it from the evergreen rod. This build is more of a learning experience for future builds of this kit. It's by no means accurate to the paint colors that AMC used, but it's more of what I would do with one of these in 1 to 1.
