I hear that Ferrari company makes a fine sports car. -
Revell Customer Service
2000-cvpi replied to Rick Schmidt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I got a small box of awesome from Revell today. They sent me three sets of whitewall tires for the 1950 Oldsmobile kits that I have that didn't have them. Outstanding customer service from the people at Revell. It was less than a week from when I filled out the online parts request form to the time these tires were at my door. -
I clean my nails with my exacto knife. Otherwise I'm perfect.

I got one of my grails today. I went to the annual winter swap meet today and found this. It is partially built, but that's fine with me since I am going to build it.

What a dork (I want to use a much stronger word, but I like posting here). That is a lousy thing to do. My hope is still high for a Duesenberg, any version will be fine with me.
-
It looks like either a Chevrolet Cavalier or a Ford Escort ZX2. My hoping for a Duesenberg is gone.

Revell Customer Service

I did also. I'm hoping that I get the same great results that others have. -
I stopped into my local Hobby Town has the kit, it was 31.99. In the two years since the store has been open they still have some of the original kits that they had in stock on opening day. They never mark a kit down or clearance them. For some reason, the price the kits at give to ten dollars above msrp.

I stopped into a local Goodwill store and found these the kits.

3-D Printing is now affordable
2000-cvpi replied to Darren B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No, no, no. That will never happen. The model industry will just stay exactly like it is, except that models will go back to $1.98 for 3 in 1 annual kits. Now back to sticking my head in the sand, which worked really well for the Dodo bird so it's great for modelers. -
I got this book from Barnes and Noble today. It's a great reference for a lot of Mopar kits.

3-D Printing is now affordable
2000-cvpi replied to Darren B's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Unfortunately a rather large part of the modelers in general are like dinosaurs. They are so unwilling to adapt. This technology is going to change the hobby, for the better. No more paying large sums of money for a rare annual kit, just make it at home. The little obstacles like tires and chrome playing will get sorted out. The hardest majority of the technology has been done, the printer itself. -
Hottie Lobby, that's a new one. The radio of cute women to grandmas is 1 to 10 in favor of the blue hairs at my Hobby Lobby. Must be a west coast thing.

What's the story behind your user name/avatar?
2000-cvpi replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I've had this user name since early 2001, I have used it on every forum that I have ever belonged to. I bought my first newer car, a 2000 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor from the Kent County Sheriffs Department in the spring of 2001. The car was just over 11 months old at the time.and had 68,000 miles. It was just like new, except the mileage was high for the year. It was a slick top road patrol car. I kept it for six years and never had any problems. I didn't have a digital camera back then, so all the pictures that I have of it are film. -
STACY DAVID/REVELL MODEL KITS CHAMPIONSHIPS
2000-cvpi replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Contests and Shows
I think it's a good idea, the contest is a positive thing. I don't think that a company that had to compete with video games would show a video game company to sponsor a model building contest. It's like Ford sponsoring a all Chevrolet car show. As for the complaining, apparently model builders are a whiney bunch. A major model company contest can't please everyone, I guess that should have been a given. The odds of me winning are better if less people enter, so keep complaining. -
I got these from a trade. I bought these off Craigslist. I got these at Hobby Lobby today with the 40% coupons.

That looks nice, I like it a lot. It must have been a blast to drive.

I went to the lhs yesterday and got a double dragster tin kit and some extra sanding strips. Today I bought the Ghostbusters Cadillac before and after the post office I picked up the regular version of the double dragster kit.
