  1. Heck, you're young, spend your entire check without leaving work. When you get older and married, you won't get to spend like that.
  2. I voted no. I had a paid membership to another site and it wasn't worth it. I got access to a members only forum, two stickers for my car, and a icon by my screen name that said that I was a member. The problem was no body used the members forum, it was and still is a dead forum, maybe two posts a week if that. It just was not worth it. Of course the non paying members there were adult enough to understand that ads helped to pay for the forum. So they didn't complain that they had to look at an ad for women shoes. Maybe guys that own old police cars are more mature than some in this hobby, who knows.
  3. I agree completely. I can buy the 53 Chevy gasser for almost that at hobby lobby.
  4. Its like the 1989 Batmobile mated with a Corvette and then fell down the ugly tree and hit every branch.
  5. I just cleaned off my table and put up the display cases that I bought earlier this year. Now I just have to get building and fill them up.
  6. I stopped at Meijers for some steaks for dinner tomorrow and picked up another Sox and Martin car. I also took my kids to a lhs and picked up the Ford Expedition police package, and the 57 Ford Nascar.
  7. I heard something at a car dealer once that applies here, there's a bottom(another word was used) for every seat. I would never own one, but there is somebody out there that is in love with those things.
  8. I think its more than they are worth. There is a few good kits, but way more duds.
  9. I read the other thread and I swear that there are some guys on here that only use a computer for this forum only. Is perfectly normal for any forum to have ads in the banner. Every forum that I frequent has them, for the same reason they are now here, to earn income for the site. Its silly to think that a ad could upset a grown man. To Gregg, thank you for all you do, I can only imagine the work that you have done to make things here better. Remember that it is easier for others to criticize than for then to help out.
  10. Gotta love an ad for seven cars with only two pictures. To a northern guy, those Novas don't look so bad.
  11. Those would make a nice set of bookends.
  12. I picked up the following kits, the pick up was on clearance at Hobby Lobby. The Petty 1/16 was a new kit at Hobby Lobby, so with the coupon it was just over 20.00. The Sox and Martin kit was on sale at Meijers.
  13. Paint something yellow, that adds at least ten horse power. The three a pillar gauges on a stock car adds over fifty horse power.
  14. After you built a dozen or so, you could then reenact all sorts of things from D Day to other theaters during WWII.
  15. Wow, its like the resin fairy stopped by. That's quite a collection of cool stuff.
  16. Sorry if my tone came across as argumentative, but it was not intended to be at all. It was simply an attempt to provide more information about the car and program. Its hard sometimes to make a point through typing without causing unintended opinions from others.
  17. I understand that, but unless he ran the program, or was higher up in the management of Chrysler at the time it is all hearsay. If you go to this site Www.turbinecar.com there is interviews from the head of the turbine program at Chrysler, many employees that worked on the program for decades and actual users of the cars during the trial period. There is actual facts about what happened for almost thirty years of the Chrysler turbine program.
  18. The entire first paragraph is bogus. Ghia only made 55 cars, fifty for the trial driver program, and five for Chrysler to test. The entire Chrysler turbine program started about 1954 and ran until almost 1980. So there wasn't any reason to have a tax write off for the turbine program, since it was already started and didn't end for ten plus years after the crushing of the Ghia turbines. The cars that are left over are from the fifty that were driven in the trial program. Chrysler kept three, one they test crashed and then destroyed. The other two were in the Chrysler museum until they sold one to jay Leno. They still have one.
  19. I don't know where to start with all of the BS in your statement from a reliable source Harry. Whomever that is is full of BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH.
  20. The Hemmings blog and wikipedia are not the most reliable sources. This site is much more thought out, researched and backed by first hand interviews and facts about the Chrysler Turbine car. There is also a excellent book by Steve Lehto on the Turbine car program at Chrysler. Www.turbinecar.com Five are running out of the nine that were not scrapped. Chrysler tried to give them to museums, but only nine were taken. They were scrapped not for the tax duty, but the liability of having a regular Joe own a turbine car. They didn't want the good will that they had built over the loan tours to be ruined by whomever bought one and trashed it. Or got into a serious accident with one.
  21. I would take a Porcher kit, doesn't matter which one. It would take me years just to build one, with ask the detail that they have. Not to mention losing parts in the beach
  22. I just hope that all if the common kit boxes that I have thrown out will never be worth anything. Especially the Lindberg Crown Victoria police car boxes, I must have tossed ten or more when I condensed two kits into one box. I do have a fondness for the old Johan flat boxes. I will but those if they are in good condition.
  23. The entire family went to Shipshewana Indiana to the flea market there. I found a dealer that was selling mostly random stuff in a side building by the auction barn. I bought ask the models that interested me. They had several more kits, but mostly Lindberg kits. For five dollars a kit, I did ok. I paid thirty dollars for this one, but it was sealed until I got home. The k mart price tag was still on the kit. These two were six dollars each or two for ten, so I bought two.
  24. I also bought these at the same antique mall. A 73 & 75 Cadillac Eldorado promos by Johan.
  25. I stopped at an antique mall and found these three kits. They are molded in color, grey, yellow and black.
