Jo-Han '75 Oldsmobile Cutlass Snap Kit.
2000-cvpi replied to W-409's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
WOW, 149.95 for a curbside resin kit that needs donor parts and clean up. That is more than steep price wise. -
That is quite the understatement.

I have been away from the forum due to work and the holidays. This is my Christmas presents from my wife and kids. The Johan hearse is unbuilt and my wife bought it on her own without telling me. It was a great surprise. The tire sets and glue were bought with a Hobby Lobby gift card from my kids. I picked up another set of Firestone tires at Hobby Lobby yesterday, and two model magazines at the LHS.

I went to the Kalamazoo toy show today and picked up these kits. The Matador was sealed from 1976 to today when I opened it. Of course now that I bought one, AMT will reissue them.

Any of the Revell 32 Ford kits have good 302 motors. I would start there. -
Look out it's the fuzz.

For me it's several kits. The Johan Chrysler Turbine, the Johan 1970 Oldsmobile 442, the Johan 1968 Plymouth police car. Everyone of those that I find I buy. Unless the seller thinks they see made out of gold, then I pass. The police car was the first kit I ever built on my own as a kid. I still have most of it. The Turbine is just a great kit of a really neat car that could have changed history. The Oldsmobile is just one of those things, it doesn't do anything particularly well, but there's just something about it.

I was looking forward to this kit, but after seeing the contents I'm not going to be buying one. Thank you Carl for falling on the sword ( just kidding) for me.

That certainly isn't good. I wonder why the manager didn't buy the business and keep it open?

Tom, How do you know what Hobby Lobby's coupon policy is or thier intended sales goal for coupon use? Based on several facts about my area HL, they continually have sales on items that are greater than the 40% off coupon. Frames, fabric, decor items etc are always on sale. Hobby Lobby has tremendous buying power, I doubt that they pay more than 25% of retail for any kit. Hobby Lobby can buy for less than a lhs could based on the volume that they buy. There is no way that Hobby Lobby would cancel the coupon program, they would lose way to many sales from the general public. The program has been around way to long and many long time customers are used to the coupon. Modelers make up such a small percentage of their sales that they don't matter. All it takes is looking at the store space they dedicate to models compared to boat themed knick knacks. Using four coupons for four people in separate orders is not against their policy, and until it is against their policy, it is unfair to think so. Ps, not at all meant to be hostile, argumentative or mean, just debating. Sometimes it's hard to type without emotion being read into the words.

It's not abusing the system at all. Abusing the system would be removing the price tag and switching to a lower price to cheat and steal. Those stores still make a profit on a kit if I use a coupon. They buy in a much larger volume than a lhs, so the price is lower. I also guess that you don't spend any time talking to the staff at Hobby Lobby. The staff here have told me more than once that a lot of customers use coupons. Even to the point that people come in day after day and use the coupon. Half of the items that they seek are always on sale, picture frames and man cave decorations see two examples.

I went to both of my area Hobby Lobby stores and found these tire sets instead of the regular sets that they carry. I bought all for that were in stock and used the 40% coupon as well. Grand total with tax 20.32, not to shabby. Hobby Town U.S.A. wanted 17.99 for one set.

I do that also. I've had my two kids use coupons too.

All Seth Rogen did was ruin the Green Hornet and 21 Jump Street.

I voted to leave it as is. The poll is still open, I wish there was a way to do that with politics.

That is very nice. -
When will Revell show us what they got?

A Yugo with a spotlight would be kinda cool. -

I'd build a Yugo. Maybe a couple that were on Top Gear also. It would be a cool kit. -
How cute, you have a Hummer

There wouldn't be two threads if Revell announced the 2014 kits already.
