  1. I tend to go in waves, some times I buy a lot when there is money for kits. Then there are months long droughts that I don't buy anything. I have enough supplies for the next 5 years, so I don't buy much of that stuff. Kits have to be a good deal for me to buy them, I am inherently cheap so if it isn't priced right, I pass. I have splurged several times on hard to find kits, but that is few and far between.
  2. While pulling the pictures from photobucket for my last post, I found the pictures of some built up kits that I bought several months ago at an antique store. I'm not sure that I ever posted pictures of them, but I will now. They were kinda expensive at 18.00 each, but they are nicely built for the era with minimal tube glue, and spray paint instead of the usual tons of Testors bottle paint. The light blue Impala is the original Craftsman kit. The other Impala is a screw bottom 68, which I've never seen before. Mostly because I haven't looked for one, but it's still a neat builder.
  3. It's been a busy month and have not posted much. But I sure have been stocking up on kits. The family and I went on vacation to Marquette in the Upper Peninsula and found a lhs that's part of a 1 to 1 body shop. Stopped a Riders hobby shop in Grand Rapids on the way back from the UP. And picked up some consignment kits from the local shop here in town. As well as several Hobby Lobby stops along the way.
  4. Swiper? I was so glad for my kids to grow out of that show.
  5. I wonder if there is an Aspen conversion kit out there. My second car was a 1980 Dodge Aspen in dog poo brown with a faded brown vinyl top. It wasn't quick at all with the slant six. For years I hated the car, but lately I have developed a soft spot for it.
  6. What happens to the test shots after you are done with them? It would be neat to have a display at where ever moebius main offices are with every auto kit test shot. Or sell them on ebay.
  7. That's good to hear. I sold him part of a collection that I bought several years ago. He paid better than I thought and it helped ease the pain of buying 250 kits at once.
  8. The 1969 Chevelle and the accelerator were from Hobby Lobby this week. The DOH was from my awesome wife who bought it at a garage sale for a dollar. Over the Easter weekend we went to Green Bay Wisconsin. I went to a real hobby shop that was what I imagined a 1960's hobby shop to be, N.E.W. Hobby. It was really a very well stocked hobby shop with everything that I could think of. There were old kits, new kits, supplies that I haven't seen outside of eBay. It was very cool to see such a great hobby shop. I just wish it was in my town, instead of 5 hours away. I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted to, but my son bought some army figures that he is trying to build. That is better than anything I could buy, since he is getting into modeling at the age of 6.
  9. This is great news, the kits that they have coming out are all must buys for me. I can't wait.
  10. With all of those Mopars, there's not one single model kit or promo. That seems odd to me. I was hoping for the largest collection of Johan promos and kits. Especially since he had thousands of hot wheels and die cast cars.
  11. It's too bad that the car is so rough. It would have been nice to see it be mint like the original plan.
  12. So when does the agreement with Model King expire? I think the Ford Bronco would be a good reissue to sent out after the pickup that just came out.
  13. I just this year finished doing the stay at home dad job. It was the best 5 years of my life to be able to stay at home with my two children. They are both in school full time so I'm back to work. I think that they are better prepared than most of their class mates, some of which is due to being with me at home. It was a little harder than I thought at first.
  14. I guess that it's neat in concept, but the execution of that concept is not to my liking.
  15. That was a good article. I want a Packard ambulance now. I'm guessing that it is expensive.
  16. Wait a minute, the resin caster wants more than the 149 for the same kit now? That's nuts. Is it cast out of sterling silver? Who buys them at that price? And lastly do they build themselves or do I actually have to build it after buying the kit?
  17. That sounds like a snarky jab at someone that tries to profit from parting out kits. I wouldn't read too much into it.
  18. If Revell did fix the roof height then I expect about fifty new posts from everyone offering apologizes to Revell and Mr. Sexton for all of the negative comments made about the kit.
  19. Another part of the equation is that certain kits have been reissued many time over the years, the recent 1936 Ford coupe is one that comes to mind. With every kit made the tool wears out just a little bit. The kit that most recently debunks my own theory is the 76 Dodge Dart, the body on my kit is full of flash. I think it's a combination of all the thoughts except for the made in China part that make up the answer. I would still like to see some of the reissues that they have come out with even with the flash.
  20. Flip a coin. It very well could not be as good as some of the better TV shows. Not reality garbage, but Breaking Bad style shows.
  21. Of all of the video games to make into a movie, they chose this game. I am still hoping for a Halo movie.
  22. I think the windshield wiper arms are way too thick, I'm not going to buy one now. They ruined the kit. The nit picking of a kit that isn't out yet is more than out of control.
  23. I went to both Hobby Lobby's here and bought these two kits.
  24. My area supports two Hobby Lobby stores less than ten miles away from each other. And they both have average to above average model Isles. It's your area and store that dictates what they stock.
