I'll go or the Celsior and the Fiat. I do wish they'd spring for an extra sprue to turn the Celsior into the Lexus LS.

I'd love to see the new Jo-Han become a manufacturer of all the old kits the original used to produce. Until that happens, I'd be happy to see them produce utility trailers, car carrying trailers, and garage accessory kits to keep the money coming in. Perhaps they could add some modern wheel and tire options as well. A set of 18 inch steel wheels and tires like those used on the Crown Vic police cruisers would be nice for those of us who like to use them on modern day hot rods. Maybe other 18-20 inch wheels and tires that look like old school steel or vintage wheels but in modern sizes could sell. I love the Pegasus, Fujimi, and Otaki wheel and tire sets, but they tend to be too wide, or 4-lug, or such. A lot of people these days like to use 20 inch steel wheels and low profile tires with dog dish hubcaps for a new twist on an old school look

To me, these old MPC kits are kind of trash, but they are nostalgic trash. Their parts fit is not good, but building them always remind me of the glue bombs I put together as a little kid. All I need is a tube of citrus scented glue, some cheap Testor's paints and a semi-sharp knife. I do wish that Round 2 would go through these old kits and redo the molds to tighten them up. Maybe, they could backdate them as well so we could get the original issue style kits as well.

Modeling TV sit-com cars from '50s-60s; any out there?
oldcarfan replied to W Humble's topic in WIP: Dioramas
My wife is a fan of Bewitched and I Dream Of Jeannie and I looked it up once out of curiosity. Whatever auto brand sponsored the show made sure to send a few of next year's newest and best cars to be featured prominently in upcoming episodes. That explains how the star characters could always afford the nicest convertibles and such. -
Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
oldcarfan replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No picture as I've got it soaking in Purple Cleaner, but I bought a glue bomb Revell Audi R8 a while back. Whoever built used probably a tube and a half of citrus glue. This one is going to take a lot of patience. The smell brought back a lot of memories of me as a kid in my room putting together whatever kits I got for Christmas! -
That's going to be nice! My granddad ordered a police package Nova like that for his company. I remember him driving it with that 350 and four barrel. The only thing he added was a nicer interior because he used it on long road trips to projects. Do you have a contact for Greg Wann? I bought an Eleanor Mustang transkit years ago and it was great.

Never assume your finger is in the clear when using an XActo knife! I just shaved some skin off my pointer finger the other day while holding a steel ruler.

Completed kit has yellowed……is there a fix?
oldcarfan replied to Racersonly's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Testor's clear enamel always yellows over time. Duplicolor automotive clear seems to stay clear, but I don't know if it works over every paint type. -
Thanks for the link!

While unpacking more junk for my hobby area, I came across this Bburago Police Porsche. I think I bought a pair of them at a flea market years ago. Not too long ago, I started watching Youtube videos of people who restore old Matchbox Cars and Tonka trucks and it's giving me an idea. I'm thinking of restoring this played-with Porsche. I can fix the body, but it's missing the police light, the siren and I'll need new Polizei stickers. I haven't found any sources for BBurago restoration parts and wanted to know if anyone has a source for reproduction or used parts.

Mercedes Outlaws & Hot Rods
oldcarfan replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can understand people being upset when someone buys a nice survivor, or a restored car and then chops it up, but if you take a shell or a rusted field car and do something to give it a new life, that is cool! I knew a guy who had an old Cadillac that had been in the family for years. A nicely preserved and loved old car that still had all the original parts and drove like a dream. He put it up for sale as one of the last of the family and someone bought it and swore to love it. The next thing he knew the new buyer had stripped it and made a hot rod out of it. The poor guy was gutted.- 130 replies

Vintage Bell Telephone Van
oldcarfan replied to Brian Austin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Since Mobius has done a lot of Ford trucks, maybe they can leverage the chassis and other parts to make an early 70s Econoline! I'd like some of those. -
I definitely want a couple of these. Combining it with the previous D-100 long bed to get a nice 2WD stepside is something I want!

Thank you for the public service as I was thinking of buying the AMT kit. Instead, I'll save the money and use it for something else. Sorry you had to find out the hard way, but you made a decent car!

TS-7 Racing White, is it glossy or flat?
oldcarfan replied to Milo's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya Racing White is close to Ford's old Wimbledon White, sort of an off-white if you will. Their Pure White is a bright white but I use their clear flat over gloss paints for interiors and it works well. Once dry, you can sort of polish the flat with your finger or even a little actual polish to give certain areas a touch of semi-gloss to mimic wear on leather and such. -

Renault Estafette service van
oldcarfan replied to dougwintz's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
You did a good job with that clear body. Is that a 1/24th kit? I've never seen it before. I may have to look for one! -
Your build looks great! I have two of this kit in the stack, waiting for inspiration. Glad to hear it builds up well.

Kits you can't seem to have enough of.
oldcarfan replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My all time gotta buy more model is the Monogram Porsche 911 curbside kit. I know it's not highly detailed nor does it have a lot of parts, but I like it. I scoured eBay for them and managed to get 10 or so. I've built about 6 of them in the last few years and since recently restarting my building, I have another on the bench. -
What did you see on the road today?
oldcarfan replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Familiarity doesn't make this thing look any better. I really feel for the engineers who had to make this thing semi-viable. -
I made a trip south to Austin and had a chance to stop at the last HobbyTown in the area. The one thing I really wanted? They had it! I found my Italeri Gelandewagen kits and wanted this one to go with them. It'll be a while before I get around it, but I have an ICON style upgrade thing I want to try. They turn old vehicles into very cool, very expensive, Resto-mods. https://www.icon4x4.com/
