  1. Sorry to have brought up a sore subject. I ordered something from them a few years ago and just came across the box recently. Are you from the Dallas area? I was wondering if you sold at any shows or if you have an eBay presence?
  2. Speaking of that, have you used Shapeways before? I've had a few people mention it, but haven't ordered.
  3. Thanks, guys, I was pretty sure I'd seen something like that, but the local Walmart didn't have it. Now I know where to look! Before I forget, a side bar. If you're using lacquer based putty and have to strip the body, Purple Cleaner and all those will also strip the putty so if you've done a lot of body work with that, be aware.
  4. I like JDM and Euro stuff. Particularly outlaw Porsche stuff and the kind of things you might see on Japanese street racers. I've ordered some resin stuff from Scale Production, USCP, SpotModel, and it's great stuff, but I'm sure there are other places to order from as well. Is there a list somewhere?
  5. You'd think Fujimi could do a parts box mashup and issue a licensed 277 kit with the decals and everything. They should have the tools to make this car without a lot of trouble. I think Walker has run this car with and without a ducktail lid, but I can't remember for sure. I bought the rally 73 RS and the Testor's boxing of the regular 73 RS and the decals from China but now I have to get the motivation to do something.
  6. This is my project, my dad's 1985 Toyota. It hasn't run in ten years but is rust free. Was going to be a summer project until we started having weeks of 105 temperatures. Maybe it can wait for October.
  7. I prefer using EverCoat or Bondo two part fillers over lacquer based tube putties, but I don't use enough to make it worth buying a whole can. For some reason I remember there being a two part filler that came in a tube kind of like Tamiya putty but with a smaller tube of activator. No idea of what brand it could have been. I can't find mention of it anywhere, so am I just imagining it?
  8. If it works like 1:1 stickers, maybe you apply them over a light spray of water and squeegee them down?
  9. I posted on another topic, but there is an Amazon JP that has really good prices on JDM kits but with high shipping. Does anyone know if they combine shipping to save money if you order several kits? I bought a Nissan Silvia from them for $14 plus shipping.
  10. Probably so, I apologize.
  11. It's actually staffed by overworked, underpaid people trying to stay alive as quotas get raised.
  12. Not sure, but I remember a bunch of Palmer kits my uncle gave me and an old Meyer's Manx multi kit. That was the first one I built on my own. I wanted to make the most of it so all the extra parts just got glued all over the place. I wasn't allowed to paint anything because my mom knew I'd make a mess.
  13. For me, I usually strip the paint and start again if I'm not happy with the paint job. As a rule, the prep work is almost more important than the actual paint. I have built several and missed mold lines or scratches and not seen them until after the paint was done. I'd say maybe dunk it in the purple pond and try again if you're not happy with the results. The other option is to try to wet sand or polish the paint.
  14. This and the 60 and 63 Fords are definitely on my list of gotta buys. Someone does need to ask them what 'Constriction Clean Up' means. LOL
  15. To my wife's dismay, I discovered Amazon JP has terrific prices on JDM kits. I got this one for $14, though the shipping was high. Next time I'll wait and combine several kits to make it a better deal.
  16. Not sure what area this belongs, but I have a technical question. I'm trying to order from Scale Production but it tells me my password is wrong and wants to send me a prompt to reset it. The problem is I don't get the prompt. Anyone have a contact? Or a workaround? Edit: Never mind, I just started a new account. Guess that's the workaround.
  17. I don't really have many 'Holy Grail' kits left to look for, but I do have a list of 'Wanna Finds'. This week I went to WIld Bill's Hobbytown in Dallas and found two of them. The Fujimi Pantera is a kit I've wanted for 10 years but always lost out on at auctions. The other is the Audi Quattro. I used to have the Tamiya version, but this one will do nicely. In addition, I got the Talladega off a clearance table, and the VW truck is something I've been wanting to order for a while. If I understood right, the original Wild Bill's location has been closed and the new Hobbytown locations in the area are called WIld Bill's Hobbytown.
  18. Drifters and tuners use these a lot. It makes it easier to remove the front cover to replace in case of damage or to work on the engine.
  19. Is there a retailer similar to Model Roundup that deals primarily in import kits? I used to have one years ago, but I lost the website and can't remember who it was.
  20. Does this paint eventually harden to the touch or will it always stay soft or tacky? I remember how old Testor's silver, brass, and gold would stick to me even a year later.
  21. Since they are redoing the 60 and 63 Ford trucks, maybe they can tool up a nice straight six engine to go with the Falcon Ranchero? It could then also be offered in the second issues of the too newly retooled trucks as well. Also, here's hoping they'll release the go-kart with the Bonneville body shell, too.
  22. Thanks for the heads up, I just placed an order! I lived in Austin for years and didn't know they were there.
  23. That looks really cool! What kit is that?
  24. Living in the northern part of the Texas Hill Country, we see a lot of agriculture related stuff and I've noticed over the last few years that some local ranchers are buying these used Japanese Kei trucks for use. I'd like to see some in kit form. I know there is a kit of the Subaru Sambar in 1/24th, but are there any for these other vehicles? I'm thinking Daihatsu Hijet, Sambar of course, Suzuki Carry, and Honda Acty. There used to be a three wheel Mazda truck too, but I think that was 1/32 and I prefer 1/24th and 1/25th scale. eBay hasn't turned up anything, but I thought I remembered seeing other kits.
  25. Maybe whoever owns the molds could reissue it and I wouldn't say no if they tooled up a set of Euro market bumpers to go with it. Much sleeker looking in my opinion.
