  1. I'll be traveling to the Dallas/Fort Worth area and plan to stop by Wild Bill's Hobbytown if they're still there. Someone said that some of the old stock ended up at a different Hobbytown. Does anyone know which that might be. Late this month, I'll be in Corpus Christi and wondered if there are any hobby shops there. Thanks, for any help!
  2. I'm so pleased that AMT is using scanning and other methods to recreate lost tooling. I've got five of their Nova wagon and am looking forward to the 1960 and 1963 F-100s. I've been wondering what other lost tools they might be able to recreate? Any ideas? Between AMT and MPC they have a lot of history that would be nice to see back on the shelves. I'd like to see a 71 Pinto and Vega done in Craftsman style. On a slightly different tack, could the same techniques be used to back date tools? I'd love to see a base model hood to turn MPCs 70s Camaro and Firebirds into the base model editions. Maybe a straight six ending to go with it. For that matter, I wonder how 'legal' it would be for someone to use this new technology to recreate the Johan tools. Some of their stuff had really accurate bodies.
  3. This is so funny, I was just unpacking some old boxes and found two built up and one still in box Poison Pintos.
  4. I already have a couple of the original issue 60 and 63, but I'll be getting more of these when they come out. And when they do an issue with the go-kart with the streamlined shell, I'll get more. Here's hoping AMT will also reissue the Chevy van with a new tool of the Open Road high top and the window van glass. Who knows maybe they'll go wild and add a set of windows and extra seats for the Ford van, too!
  5. Don't know if it works on this stuff, but on some other paints I used a compatible thinner, used a battery powered stirrer and then ran the result through a coffee filter a couple of times to get rid of any remaining chunks. It worked pretty well.
  6. Would the 69-70 Cougar roof not work?
  7. I kept missing that kit in the store. Can it be converted to a Ford?
  8. I'm hoping to do some outlaw type Porsches and Ferraris, so I want to find some vintage style decals to go with them. One part I'd like is this type of numbers, or even just the font so I could print them myself. Another thing would be sponsor decals, like Bosch, Mobil Pegasus and such.
  9. I've bought several of Revell's excellent Porsche tractor and would like to encourage Revell to do a Lamborghini tractor to pair with it. Anyone else interested?
  10. I'm hoping for a short wide bed and then maybe they can use the bed off the AMT 53 Ford truck for a stepside?
  11. As a general rule, I'd say no you can't. But I've made copies of windshields, hoods, fender flares and fairly flat stuff by filling the backside of the part with plaster of paris to give the part some support.
  12. AMT in particular has tooling from a lot of other manufacturers as well as from many decades. Some of the tools weren't that great to start with and some are worn out or at least in need of maintenance. If I were in charge, I'd probably brand the older kits as 'Heritage' kits or something like that so that people would know that the kit will need patience to assemble.
  13. I'd love to have a GMC grill to fit the AMT 55-57 Chevy trucks as well!
  14. Is this a snap kit? I love the alternate wheels you're trying and need to find this kit!
  15. Thanks for your reply!
  16. I'm looking for a standard short bed for the AMT 1978 Ford truck and I think I heard that MAD Resin made one. Does anyone know if they're still around? I've tried googling but nothing seems to come up.
  17. I'd buy lots of sets of these if they were available! Especially if the steel wheels were in an 18 or 19 inch and wide enough for modern tires.
  18. I love the AMT 60 Ford kit and have three that I found for good prices on eBay. That being said, I'm looking forward to getting more from new or restored tooling. I'd also love to see Mobius do a more detailed version with a short bed and also a step bed.
  19. Over the years I bought several of these as rebuilders. I can't wait to get a lot more. I used the 53 Ford kit with the cab from a 60 to make a 60 stepside.
  20. For me it's going to be the Mustang and the Sodbuster. I remember my dad having that Mustang both in 1:1 and kit form when I was little. For a guy who grew up poor on the south Texas coast, he always imagined himself as a LeMans driver. He raced that car around every curve he could find. The Sodbuster kit was the first I ever bought on my own and I built and rebuilt that kit until there wasn't any thing left of it.
  21. I think the JADA one is the one I bought. It's got fancy wheels and is in M&Ms markings. I bought it on sale and haven't even taken it out of the box. Wish I could find the First Gear version, it looks great.
  22. Is this a stock body on the generic NASCAR chassis? If so I'm thinking of some cool projects I could do.
  23. Is this based on the diecast van? I bought one a while back that is marked with M&M branding. It looks good but feels like it's closer to 1/23th than 1/25th. This one looks a lot better.
  24. I'd say it's worth it. I bought that same kit twenty years ago and paid $40-something then. It is highly detailed and to me was pretty fiddly to assemble.
  25. Not sure how to ask this, but here goes. When a company makes a new kit, do they make one set of molds for that kit? Or do they make multiples? Say they were making a new kit of a Chevelle, would they make one set of molds for it, body, chassis, etc. or would they make two sets of molds so they could run two copies on two mold machines? Maybe it would depend on how popular they expected the kit to be?
