Colored decals on and drying... Once they've sufficiently dried the General will get one more dip in Future to seal in the decals, glass, and BMF, then final assembly can begin.
-
Real... my guess...

I own one... and it DOES run the fumes through the motor system... BUT, I did extensive research on this booth and there has never been an instance of exploding using any spray paints. The motor is supposedly insulated so that no metal sparking is produced, which causes the explosions. The caveat is also on Paasche's webpage, and I have a feeling it's there for their "legal" protection more than anything. There are other booths out there (just saw a plastic one for $90 with a side motor, not sure about the airflow though...), so definitely do your research. EDIT: When I spray a model I let the system vent for 4~5 minutes after I've finished to allow it to vent cleaner air through as well. It's never had a problem, and cleaning and filter changes are easy.

Don't feel like that... it's not a competition. I like your work and want you to do your best! Okay... brushed on Future over the white decals now that they've sufficiently dried. This will protect them for when I overlay the colored decals on top of them. No pics, will have more tomorrow.

Paasche has a relatively inexpensive galvanized paint booth that sometimes gets dropped in price to around $125 ~ $150, down from $400. WORTH. EVERY. PENNY. EDIT: This is the one you'd want... http://www.amazon.com/Paasche-HSSB-22-16-Hobby-22-Inch-18-Inch/dp/B0038DANR6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1312317703&sr=8-2

Some people do strange things

Nothing but WIN there... Nice! -
Thanks for the comments! More pix... White background decals on, will dry for at least 24 hours... Front and rear bumper test shots...

It would definitely help...

All white interior cars I've done and seen have black carpeting (unless it's a two-tone, then the darkest color is the carpet...). Seats are usually an off-white which looks more vinyl, sometimes the middle seat cushions are black. On a fair amount of door panels the upper armrest area is generally white, lower panels tend to be black. Silver trim run along the panels and some spot areas on the doors (like elastic and soft vinyl door pockets) and armrests are also black. A large percentage of dashboards are black BUT I have seen white dashes with black and silver trim, which looks pretty cool as well. Rear seats follow the same pattern as the fronts, but the middle section almost always matches the console, and that is usually black as well (wood grained panels and silver trim help to make it stand out more...).

Off the hook. Seriously. I want those painting skillz.....

WOW. Just WOW. This is gonna be sweet!!!!

Thanks! Ok... more pix... BMF is done... And here are the decals from Hazzardous, drying after a glaze from LDF... (NOT MEANT AS A RACIST PICTURE!!!) Tim of Hazzardous told me they've been having trouble with their printer and printing white backgrounds, so the white part of the decal will go on first, then the colored one. A little more tricky, but I'll give the white ones at least 24 hours to dry before applying the colored ones.

Pics.... Much better sitting rollbar... Body dipped in Future, now drying... Went over wheels with some more flat black...
-
That's not ugly! That's character..... Still in for how this'll turn out!
-
That will work just fine. Thanks!!!! (Now the '68 Charger Assassin car from "Bullitt" will just have to have a '69 interior. You give, you get, I guess...)
-
Well, I came across another problem with the interior aside from a low rollbar, and at this late stage in the build I really can't do much about it. When I was scrounging in the 69 kit for the backing plate to the engine stand I happen to take notice of the seats, and it almost stopped me cold in this entire endeavour. Apparently the seats are different from the 68 and 69 kits as the correct 69 kit comes with separate headrests and seat patterns. But since DOH used so many different Chargers I feel comfortable leaving them the way they are since I would have to tear apart the entire interior to fix the mistake. I mean, I still have the complete 69 interior as well, BUT I don't have another CB radio to put in it, AND I need it for another build (it'll be in a black car). So, the rollbar and seats will get left the way they are. Just a caveat for those following behind me. EDIT: Just went ahead and removed the rollbar, then glued painted styrene blocks where the mount points are and then glued everything back on. Height is more correct now, pics to come later.
-
I just noticed that. I didn't realize it was that low, so I'll have to figure something out to lengthen it. That's actually how it comes in the '68 kit.

Should be now... Test fitting the body again, suspension is lining up perfectly...
-
Pics... (...having trouble posting up pics...)
-
Well, I made my decision. I went ahead and trimmed down the springs in front and the pins off, and it fits perfect now. Wheels are done, chassis is nearly complete, and the car body is drying, more pix to come soon.
-
Those are really nice, but I'm going to stick with what I have already. Much appreciated! Okay, some pix and a question... Interior is complete, PE on the doors and pedals... CB radio and tach mounted and ready to go.... Test fitting everything... Front is gapped, will need to tighten that up... Front pegs will need to be cut and moved up the brackets for proper fitment of the front wheels..... Okay, now it comes to it. I used masking tape to temporarily build the suspension.... Now,the posted instructions have you drilling a hole 1/16th towards the front in the springs themselves, but I think that's stupid. I can easily shave off that much spring in the front and glue it tight to the body to make it fit correctly. If the height is too "tucked in" when I do this, I can add some styrene in the front part of the leaf springs to even them out and still have it correct. Comments?

If I was better at wiring... Everytime I've tried it for some reason it turned into a major mess. I don't want this to look like a gorilla with garden shears had a field day in my engine bay, so I'll try it again on another model.

That's "scorched earth"... And as far as the "General Grant"..... http://www.cogulus.com/blog/archives/t/The-General-Grant-88.php Horn plays "Battle Hymn of the Republic"....

I think you guys are right. May have to take this model down to the lab for a little reworking....
