1958 Plymouth savoy on ebay
Drake69 replied to Hypermung's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Forgive my ignorance, but what is the actual problem with the kit itself? I have it and don't see any issues with mine (not knowing what to look for). Is it a premolded problem or a warped problem? -
Need assistance locating a proper scale jukebox!
Drake69 replied to Drake69's topic in WIP: Dioramas
Nice. Thanks!!!! -
Okay, here's what I'm looking to have/get/make/accomplish. I want to have a 1:24/1:25 scale (G scale) jukebox for an idea I have. Here's the stipulations.... 1: Like for it to be hollow. I am running earbuds from a small MP3 player I will have tucked away to play specific music out of it (will need to cut holes in sides for "speakers" which will be the earbuds...). 2: Look very close to a 50's Wurlitzer, or can be crafted to look like one. 3: Like for it to be lit up from the inside, or at the very least can alter it enough so that LED lights can be run inside. 4: All this and 1:24-1:25 SCALE. I have searched Google but the sizes and scales keep throwing me off. Maybe if I had the correct size in inches-to-scale I was looking for, then I can just buy the one I need and hack away. Any thoughts?

Let's Reveal Our Worst Build's
Drake69 replied to modelmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The worst kit I ever came across and tried to build... Round 2 '69 Charger Daytona. -
Bosozoku!!!! That is going to be sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are you going to source a scale figure of a man in a panda suit weilding a samurai sword?

http://en.wikipedia....iki/SpyHunter_2 I got the kit free with the purchase of PS2's Spy Hunter 2 by Midway from TRU (all total $19.99 plus tax!). The car is a Saleen S-7 that I put in storage along with the Delorean from BTTF and had completely forgot about them. The Saleen kit is a metal body kit similar to the "Fresh Cherries" and Maisto kits, and goes for about $75 ~ $100 on fleaBay now. I may scratch off the logo from the bottom rails of the car and just build it as a Saleen though.

This weekend was the Old Dominion IPMS Model Show, and I scored greatly..... Got BOTH Kammback kits, the Datsun 240Z Revell which I've never seen before, the '78 Corvette Pace Car, an Alternomod Caprice, the '71 Dodge Charger street machine, the '68 El Camino, and the Fujimi MR2 tucked inbetween the Celica Supra and Efini RX-7. The wife is getting a tad annoyed at the level of model kits I have now....

The guys at Snapfix apparently used the same body of the Firebird Kammback to make their Camaro, but the size of both Camaros are almost identical, save for the engine bay which is longer in the Kammback. But I lucked out with the chassis.... So, overall, it looks like I shouldn't have too much fuss converting this one as well. It won't have as pronounced body lines and the Camaro usually does compared to the Firebird, but it will be hopefully passable. It will definitely be fun either way!

This is a planner I'm putting out as I'm still reorganizing my new workarea since the hurricane took out the last house we were in. I went with my club to the Old Dominion IPMS show this past weekend and scored some really great kits, including these two rarities..... And since I already had the '78 Firebird and '79 Camaro 3-in-1's, I knew my first couple of cars I was going to work on would be properly done Kammback cars with real engines, chassis, and wheels/tires. Now, everyone knows that Snapfix copied the body size and shape of the Firebird when they made the Kammback, and as a result the chassis and engine mates up to the Kammback perfectly with very little modification. But what about the Camaro? More to come....

Hurricane Irene - lost quite a bit
Drake69 replied to Drake69's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well, we are in a new house, and ServPro is going to be going through and cleaning up whatever they can. I left the models in the computer room as they said they have restorers available to see if they can clean them up, but the pix of the damage is worse than the last one I posted because the ceiling fell in more than before. I will have to post them up later. The irritating thing about the new house is there's nowhere to set up a good work area (no basement, garage, etc...). I may have to sacrifice the dining room to do it, but I'm gonna work on models again, darn it! -
Flooding! Update with Pics.....9/16/11
Drake69 replied to MrObsessive's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Glad you, your family, pets, and model kits made it through! Hurricane Irene and the storms afterward have been pretty rough on all of us, seems like Irene didn't like model builders for some reason. -
One of my all-time favorites. Beautiful work. Some cool info: Year: 1958 (most of the in-shot cars used were '58s...) Make: PLYMOUTH Model: FURY Stock: 12116 Engine Size: DUAL QUAD V-8 Transmission: AUTOMATIC Exterior Color: BLOOD RED Interior Color: WHITE / RED (some interiors were also white/black and red/black) The custom color that was used in the films was actually called "Blood Red". From what I researched on this matter, Carpenter wanted a rich dark red that would be as "workable" with the camera by day as well as night, so they came up with this color. Although several Furies were used and subsequently sacrificed for the movie, most of the cars were actually Belvederes and Savoys modified into Fury-lookalikes. Where did you get that awesome deep red color from? I have to build this beast when I get my workshop put back together.

We're here in McDonalds borrowing their wi-fi for a moment, so I thought I would pop in a sec. First... THANKS ALL OF YOU. I will keep you guys updated. Second... I was able to save the General Lee since it was in a clear container when the storm hit. Depending on ya'll's likes/dislikes, that's either a good or a bad thing... Third... we are at my grandmothers house which has power (she has been staying with my aunt since grandad passed away), so it's not like we are in a shelter. Fourth... we have the ball rolling on renter's insurance with Nationwide (we don't own the house) and the rental agency, but not sure when we will receive anything. Fifth... when I get a chance I'll post up pics of the destruction... but it ain't pretty. Thanks again and I'll get back to you guys soon. -
We had to abandon our house when a tree fell and practically divided it in two. All my completed models are destroyed by water and plaster damage, all my unbuilt kits are damaged or destroyed, and my workstation in the basemenr is waterlogged from the upstairs damage and completely destroyed. We got out with the clothes on our backs, the pets, and some cameras to record the damage today. More on this when I can.

1969 - Phantom Dodge Magnum - Need Assistance!
Drake69 replied to Drake69's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Okay. Before I get any further with this build I will also need a good recommendation on putty that will help make this as seamless as possible. I have Milliput and Squadron putty but from what everyone's told me they are prone to shrinkage. I need a sandable, paintable, pliable, strong hardening, non-shrinking bonding putty that is relatively inexpensive, and where to pick it up. Thoughts?
