  1. Thanks guys. Whitewall decals came from the '69 Charger R/T kit I haven't built yet (using the redlines for that model anyway...), and I liked the mags better than the factory Mach1 wheels that came with the kit. I'm thinking about building a Boss 429 using the same kit and some added modifications to be more accurate, but that won't be for awhile now.
  2. Just finished this model from the Revell Limited Edition Series. It was a fun build but had its share of snags. Still, I like how it came out.

    57 Nomad

Great minds think alike, Kaleb. I'm doing much the same work with my Nomad.... I had to chop and rebuild most of the front end then lengthen the driveshaft and shorten the rear axle springs to get a good low fit, so I appreciate what you're going through to get good fitment. Keep up the good work!
  4. You know, I bought this kit with the express purpose of stealing the dog dish wheels for a 70's Barracuda I've got in the works, and I wasn't sure I'd do much with the rest of the kit except for parts. Now you got me thinking about what I can build with it. That's why I love coming here! Ninja EDT: Question, what "formula" do you use for your Purple Power, i.e. water-to-P.Power ratio? I've got some and didn't know how much water to cut it with so it doesn't eat through the plastic when I strip paint.
  5. I just got done with a CJ-7, can't wait to see what you do with the CJ-5!
  6. All done!
  7. A little late in posting my workbench... Magnetic jig is beside the Future polish bin beside the Mopar/American Muscle books. Selection of model kits is paltry right now because of my budget, but counting the number of models I've already built (20+), it's not too bad. A good selection of spray paints are in the right-side drawers along with my spare parts bin, and the underdesk cabinet houses quite a bit of tools, glues, cotton swabs, rags, etc. And I need to clean my spray booth, I know.
  8. Tamiya's Deep Blue Metallic. Thanks! And the flash came on in the pic with the engine bay, causing the "shine". I liked the pic so much I'm actually using it as my desktop!
  9. It's meant to be a 4-point harness. The rear seat bar I took from the parts box has the top belts looped in with the lap belts attached to the Camaro/Recaro seats, as they normally would be in an offroad vehicle. I thought about adding a fifth harness point between the legs but ran into problems creating the bracket for the harness, so for now the upper harness is loose on both sides and the lap belts I'm leaving the way they are. In an actual harness the belts are linked by a single "buckle" in the middle of the chest, but I couldn't find any really good pics of the buckle I needed. The good thing is I can swing up the harness and put it behind the seat and just have the lap belts showing, which I might do since it does look hap-hazzard the way it is now.
  10. Next set of pics... Second set.... Last set for now....
  11. More pix... Seat support rollbar added from the parts box... What better place for a 4-point harness? And I reversed the back bars for more rigid support. I also wrapped all the bars in masking tape to simulate foam padding.
  12. Thanks guys! It's been a pretty straightforward build so far, I think the only thing I'm tripping up on is the tie rod placement in the front steering area. I've done enough Jeep suspensions to know that it links up from the left front (driver's side) axle joint to the upper right area, then connects to the pitman arm crossing back over to the steering box, which then goes up to the dashboard to the steering wheel. But there really isn't anywhere on that front axle to attach the tie rod to (I know, I'm probably being particular about it, but I'm a bleeping JEEP MAN, "you wouldn't understand..." ), so I'm going to hit the FSM (factory service manual) and plan it out.
  13. Decals by Keith Marks. Model is complete! Second set... Last set... The only thing truly missing on this build is the "Coyote Duster" decal on the air filter, which I can always go back and print off when I have enough decals to run. But everything else is done!
  14. Glaze them with a Q-tip dipped in "The Detailer" Black. After each coat, hold them up to a light to see if they are starting to tone down their glare, if not then glaze them again. The Detailer is a water-soluable solution, so if you get too much on the wheel just soak it in water and the black will wash off. You can also use a brush dipped in Detailer, but I find the Q-tip more readily accessable since the tip conforms to tight areas when you apply it on a part.
  15. My current build.... Diamond plate styrene by Plastruct... Engine already complete... Next set... chassis nearly complete... Armored protection... Last set... tub getting the plate treatment... I am going to use a combination of Fabric Tan or Gray, Flat Black, and Black Vinyl sprays to produce a "Herculined effect", but I may also chrome the plate in the tailgate area, since I've tested the styrene with BMF and it looks like this.... I haven't decided on that part yet.
  16. Thanks for all the comments! At the time I didn't have the Surething Decal Maker software to make my own plates, but now that I do I may just go back and make up a set of those. And this is from the original movie, as I've never seen the remake.
  17. Well, she still has an oil leak from the front and a coolant leak from the blck right at a particular fitting, but other than that she does okay. She ought to, I keep sinking money into her!
  18. Nice. Been thinking about building a T/A in Panther Pink, looks like I'll have to commit to it!
  19. Interior and undercarriage shots...
  20. Here is one of my current works-in-progress. Most everything is finished, but I'm waiting on decals from Keith Marks. Enjoy!
  21. Built as a "concept" musclecar to represent "Famine", another of the Four Horsemen from the TV series "Supernatural". Famine actualy is driven in Cadillac Escalades (2 of them), but the newer model is not out yet as a kit, so I picked this car to represent him.
  22. Built like the car in the "Supernatural" TV series, this one as "War" from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
  23. Another enjoyable build.
  24. A "for-fun" project testing out feathered spraypaints and two-tones, this one in feathered light-dark Tamiya gunmetal and Tamiya Black.
  25. Pics of the correct hood...
