  1. I think you did a great job all around! The PE grille looks smashing. I think MCM did a tutorial on a PE grille sometime ago,and there were tricks to get the compound curves. It may have been on a '37 ford though. I believe Model car garage has a couple of Lasalle grilles and resin shells for both AMT and Mono '36 Fords.
  2. Can I have an "OUT -A-SIGHT!!" Wild!
  3. That's some real nice cutting on the rear lift gate.Sometimes resin doesn't like being delicately cut. Anyone know what base was used for the Flintstone '59 wagon?
  4. Pipettes are the way to go! Get them in bulk like the others said.I think I've even seen ones as large as 1/2 oz. You can also use empty paint jars like the Testors ones. They have 1/4 oz. 1/2 oz. and 1 1/2 oz size. I never or rarely toss a jar, they go in my super clean bucket to get the residue out.
  5. This is the first time I have ever heard that buying spraycans of paint and decanting them is cheaper(?) than buying paint in bottles, thinning them and shooting with an airbrush??
  6. I wonder why when I see these revelations of at home chroming they don't show a real world part, like a bumper or grille.
  7. Okay, so now constructive criticism has been relabeled a hard time.I wonder how many "kids" in prison now at the ripe old age of what, say 21- 25 for murder, rape or robbery would give if someone would have given them a hard time at 12?
  8. I use and firmly believe in using either 0000 steel wool,or the 3M nonwoven wool in the maroon or gray color. The steel wool is cheaper than dirt, and I use a smal chunk off the larger pad and apply some Dawn dish soap and have at it under running water. I go over the entire body, checking for seams, around wheel well lips that kind of thing.Rinse and pat dry and let air dry.Go over the body and see if any areas need special attention with sometime coarser. If not, spray on alight coat of primer and check for flaws. HTH
  9. I suggest Tamiya gold leaf for the W.
  10. I used to refer to this as the Kalmbach NNL
  11. Okay,he's twelve years old. Why not ask before he starts the build? Maybe there should be an age disclaimer that some could ignore along with real names and believable locations.
  12. Even at 12 years of age I'm assuming there are instructions to be read, understood, and followed. Building models of any kind is not a video game (yet).
  13. I have bottles I bought at Hobby Lobby.I use and recommend the 30 minute set. I usually give it a full 24 hour cure though. I also mix micro-balloons in and use that as a filler. Micro-balloons can usually be found at hobby shops with an RC following.
  14. You Live in Australia,so some products available here may not be there. I use Plasti- Kote primer, both the white and the gray.I don't like the black or red oxide for personal reasons but some prefer it. I will still use Tamiya white under a bright color as it seems to make those colors pop like no other.
  15. IMHO,all epoxies are the same. Loctite would be a good choice. Stay away from the 5 minute stuff, and get see if there is an expiration date on the bottles. As an aside, what's the reason for avoiding C-A adhesives?
  16. The assumption on my part was that you would then shave off the thickness of the tube/rod.
  17. I like the way you built the chassis inside out. I wonder if a plastic safe foam,or even plaster could be poured into what ever body you were going to use and get a buck of the inside, then cut and bend the rod/tubes around the buck.
  18. But, they are rare and oop! The smell test, you know, sniff to see if there is any solvent smell, like you do for paint?
  19. What do you use this epoxy for?
  20. Looks good, and an interesting conversion. You know though that the very next day after you finish this,Revell will announce a full detail kit
  21. Any one ever see the '32 owned by John Hycko(sp) ?
  22. That's one way of spraying bottle or decanted paint if you have no airbrush. I prefer and use the Testor's version of this where it is a can of propellant,a device that fits on top the can and an airbrush type bottle snaps into that device. You can shoot almost any kind of liquid thru this. You do have to warm the can and don't shake it while spraying.
