Brutalform

This is my first time working with a resin kit. I have worked with a resin chassis before, but not the car. I pretty much got the suspension done so I can mock it up to see if the car is level, and all four tires are on the ground. The front will set a bit lower, after I trim the front frame so it fits behind the bumper better. I am using the 60 Starliner chassis, suspension, and engine, but I am using the resin interior, except for the dash. The Starliner dash looks more like the 62 dash, as compared to the resin one that came with the kit. Almost everything is painted, except for the body. The interior is painted with Testors Icy Blue lacquer. So far, except for the trial fitting of parts more than styrene, resin is not too bad to work with. I might buy another one...probably a 63 Catalina, maybe. As for the decals, another member on this site might be able to make a set. Here are a few pics of the car, now in primer. Got a lot of sanding to do as of yet, and I still don't like the way the hood fits, as the corners of the hood stick up. I will have to play around with it some more. Its a lot better than it was though.

Well...All I can say, is this takes your breath away. Kinda hard to tell if its a model, or the real thing. I especially like the "JAG" on the butterflies...nice touch!!!

Just finished this Ford. The front and rear grills, interior tub, and roll bar, are from the Modified Stocker kit. The wheels and tires are from Bandit Resin. Decals are from Yesterdays.

This is the car I plan on building. I already checked out the MCW website, and it says only sold with the resin bodies.

I have a Dell Photo 924 printer. I would LOVE to learn how to make my own decals.

I know this is going to be a long shot...but does anyone have, and be willing to part with them. MCW Resins says on their website, that they have them, but, ONLY comes with the resin model kit. I have a 62 kit, I would like to build into the Bonner drag Galaxie. I do have a set of decals from his T Bolt kit, but, the "Al Means" is colored white, as where I need it to be black. Most, not, all of the decals are there as the door decal is identical to the 62 car. Can I use a Sharpie on the decal, to color the letters black? Or would I ruin the decal? Any input would be great....Thanks!!!!! Tom

Well...I picked up two cans of PlastiKote primers. One gray, and one white. I'm sure they will work just fine.

I find this statement to be a bit ridiculous. Sounds like Tamiya is targeted by the Government. Near where I live, they drill for natural gas, and ruin EVERYTHING they come into contact with, and I cant buy a can of primer????? Seems like that the Government could care less that flames shoot out of peoples drinking faucets, because of the Methane Gas, but, they are so concerned about fumes from a paint can??? Now, I also understand that a lot of people in our hobby are just youngsters, and things need to be right, as far as labeling goes...but I just wanted to comment though....

Kyle...its Tamiya Maroon TS-11. The paint job could be a lot better. The body was stripped. I have the supplied decals..Mike. I just got a set with the fender badges, and the rear roof pillars. The side molding decals ripped in a few spots, so I might just mask the moldings, and paint them black. BTW, thanks for the rear tail lights, and bumper

Here is a T Bolt from the Revell Tasca kit. I got the kit for next to nothing. It was missing some things, but I got it together with some spare parts, and a "tubbed" resin chassis. Used the wheels from a Pro Mod kit. I am waiting for the side molding decals, and emblems as well. As soon as they get here, and if I can get some decent pics, I will post under glass.

Very nice and clean!! Love the detail. One nice feature with a Nova, is you do not have to go through a lot of BMF, as the cars usually had painted pillars. I have a new Revell Yenko Nova, still sealed, I just might start this one, after seeing your nice project. I remember the AMT "Old Pro" Nova, from years ago. I was not too fond of that kit. I was actually skeptical when I bought the new Revell. I am glad I did now. The new tooling is the bomb. Are the side markers and door locks PE, or decals????

Thanks Bob. Yea, after looking into the Ebay Tamiya primer, I would be paying almost $50.00 for 4 tall cans shipped. Not only that, they are coming from Hong Kong. The heck with that!!!! The stuff would most likely be back on shelves before the overseas stuff arrives. It looks like its time to just ride it out, till it becomes available again. Thanks everyone for the input.

Thanks everyone... I did perform a search on this subject..to no avail. Isn't the PlastiKote primer enamel? And can you use lacquer over it? I really am not too fond of the enamels anymore. Pretty much all are packed away in a drawer. I just used some gray enamel primer on my T Bolt, that, I had lying around, and I just got finished stripping it all off with oven cleaner. After it sat all day, it was still tacky to the touch. I think I might just pay more money for the Tamiya on Ebay now. Anyone hear anything about the Tamiya X-20A thinner? That stuff seems like it fell off the earth too.

It seems that the Tamiya primer is sold out, or out of stock everywhere. My local supplier said there are some issues with its labeling? Seems to include the Tamiya X-20A Acrylic thinner too. I use both of these products a lot. Anyone hear anything on about when they will be available again?? Seen a few on EBay going for RIDICULOUS prices.

Thanks Nick. Nice underside. I was thinking of picking one up, and maybe building a "Grumpy's Toy" car. I hate getting a model, and its got one of those cheesy one piece chassis on it.
