And a few more......
-
I started this build a few months ago, and it started out as a grey colored Impala. Until I spilled some acetone, and ruined the paint, and a part of the body, I changed it to Tamiya # TS-8 Italian Red, and Testors One Coat Lacquer Clear. Its pretty much a out of box build, with the exception of the resin chassis molded by Porky. The 409 resin headers are from MCW. I saw the tires and rims on Ebay a while back, and got them for a nice price. I don't know what they are for though. I was pleased with the way it came out, and besides the acetone, I enjoyed the build. Thanks for looking!!!

Finally its finished! The only thing I wish I had done, was to add a set of ignition wires, but this is the way it will stay. When I started this build, I really only wanted a factory look, "tubbed", Impala. I am very pleased with the way it came out. I think this is my best effort so far. I get a lot of tips from magazines, mostly by Clay Kemp. I never thought about using Testors Clear Parts Window Maker cement for door handles, and mirrors, tail lights, and the like. But after thumbing through a few issues with Clays builds, particularly his write up on a Surf Green 57 Chevrolet, his first build of The Black Widow kit, I learned a few things. I am posting some better pics on the Under Glass board. Thanks for looking!!

Making Decal Question
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks a bunch Richard..I will do that!!! -
I have a vintage decal, that I am sure that as soon as it hits the water, it will be ruined. I am looking for decal paper, so I can scan it, and reprint it. I have looked in Office Max, and Staples, but I cant find any, or the people there do not even know if they carry it. Any brand name, or where I can find it???? I am using an inkjet printer by the way. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

It's been a while, but, since I ruined the Impala body, (unforseen thinner spill), I started another body. I decided to change the color to the same as the picture on the box. Still wanted a factory look with a narrowed rear. I painted it with Tamiya Italian Red, and Testors Lacquer One Coat Clear. I started to really work on it pretty steady a few days ago. I did a couple of other models before this, (70 Roadrunner & 62 Galaxie), but I should get this completed in a day or two. Pretty much just final assembly now. Kinda glad it worked out this way...as I always like a red car.

Thor...is that BMF on the metal seat trim???? Looks amazing!!!!

Fantastic work on those fenders!! I really like the screen windshield work too. Very original. BTW, what tires and wheels are those? I might be wrong, but the seem a bit larger than the Black Widow kit wheels.

Looking For Decals (Started the build)
Brutalform replied to Brutalform's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Yes, Bruce...I contacted Rick about a decal through Email, but I did not hear back from him. He might be busy, and his site does have all of its products on it, but, I figured I would ask anyway. I understand you have to print the ones that sell. This car I bought through Ebay, and it just happened to be the MCW "Nascar" kit. I went ahead and bought another 62 right from MCW directly, just to get the decals. Now I have a spare Galaxie resin kit, that I might sell, or just keep, and possibly buy the Jerry Alderman Ford and just buy the 62 decal from you guys. This car is finished now, in the "under glass" board. Thanks for the reply, Bruce. -
Fantastic builds, Paul. Just love the old drag cars. You built em just right!!

Ma's Resin Order info
Brutalform replied to cherokeered's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My order I had with Al, was like almost two months...IIRC. But, IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT. -
I used the AMT chassis, and firewall. After the interior tub assembly was all together, it required some sanding where the firewall, and the rear part of the front wheel tubs meet. The body casting is a little thick, so it took a lot of trial fitting as the door panels, and dash area were real tight. The windows had to be cut perfectly, or they interfered with the final assembly. There was some notching of the front, and rear of the chassis so the bumpers would fit. The rear axle was narrowed on both sides, as much as it could be to fit the slicks, and larger rims. It really was not too difficult at all, though.

Yes...No "BAM SAM"!!! or "BBARC" on the right rear tail panel either. ( I don't really know what those letters mean?) I was a bit disappointed, but its OK. I really enjoyed this build.

Looking For Decals (Started the build)

Got the BMF finished yesterday. Assembled the rest of it this afternoon. Another 62 with the decals came in from MCW, and when I get them applied, I'll post a few pics "Under Glass". I bought another 62 car from MCW, to get the decals, and I might sell the extra car, or maybe just add it to the stash. This was a fun build, as it is my first resin build. Can't wait to get it totally finished tomorrow. -
Beautiful build...Drew!!! I am still getting (adding) some tools to my hobby, to do more involved things. Like I stated, the body was painted, and I did not want to mess it up, so I just left it alone. Thanks Guys!!!
