  1. ok lets revive this after 7 years! It's always something I've been tinkering with, collecting parts and ideas here and there, gaining more knowledge on the rigs themselves and the hobby itself.. After all this is one of my ultimate builds, as in this is probably the biggest goal i have in my modelling sights - The 'BJ and the Bear' Kenworth Aerodyne in 1/25 Cummins slowly coming along; I scratch built the cylinder head and the plumbing, but i am about to re-do the plumbing with stretched sprue to get cleaner lines I think..? The kit (Revell) comes withe twin turbo so i had to modify down to single turbo, I had engine/turbo parts that someone sent me long ago and not even sure what kit they are off but have used the turbo from that kit. I have also used from that kit the bottom part of the cylinder head also. Great Dane Reefer - needs plenty of mods to get it similar the Bj trailer which is a Brown 40ft Reefer; had to re-position side door; I thought the best way would be to basically cut another door out where the new one needed to be and then slide that part down into the original gap for the door. will need lots of putty and special attention but we got this will be using evergreen strips for the extra ribs needed, all just dryfitted for now; Rear of the trailer needed some serious mods; original; Great Dane trailer modding wasn't too bad as it's just cutting and filing away excess really; cheers for now
  2. I have the 1/32 'Bear' figure from the kit but it is actually the perfect scale for the 1/25 kit. Just FYI haha
  3. Cool!! Any link/artwork to this info? I just wish the Aerodyne kit had the correct dash, They all seem to have the early K100 layout but not the correct Aerodyne dash layout Can't wait!
  4. Thanks for that info. Looks like I will be scratch-building the sucker!! After more research I definitely think the kit dashes are earlier model K100's, but not the Aerodyne which all had a slightly different/updated layout as in the pics.
  5. Hi Guys. Can anybody tell me if the dash in the Revell K100 Aerodyne kit is the same as in the AMT kit? It appears to be an older model KW dash? I'm not sure if the Aerodyne/flat top had the same interior/dash or if it was a unique layout? Is there an aftermarket option available? Not liking my chances, could be a bit tough to scratch a whole new one, certainly for me. This what the kit dash appears to replicate, seems like an older model KW? this is the kit dash This is the Aerodyne Dash, possibly most K100's? I have more photos but any ideas if there is a different dash/interior is available? Cheers
  6. Any movement on this nice build Yahshu?
  7. Nice work William! The 'Bear' figure form the 1/32 kit is way too oversized for that actual kit it comes in. It would be much more suited to the 1/25th kit or this size.
  8. Guitar strings are also great for hoses, lines etc. And being an avid guitarist, I have plenty laying around! They come in different sizes too.
  9. You're a freak man!! Unbelievable Mate
  10. The rims are Ben Wicker designed and were machined by Jim Littiken. I then had them sent back to Ben after Jim machined them and he cleaned them up and also polished them. I love em! The hubs are also Ben Wicker.
  11. Thanks Dennis and Jaroslav, your comments are much appreciated. Scott, I've seen those hinges of yours, they're great and will have a crack at doing them myself also. I have been still fiddling with the aftercooler area and have knocked up another attempt using parts from an Italeri kit. I am happy with it but now my problem is seeing they are 1/24 scale, they may well be too big for the revell engine? On a dry fit, it may end up being too high and too wide, but will persevere at the moment. Here's some pics. The black part is the Italeri kit part. I have posted these before in a separate thread but here's some shots of my aluminium wheels that I've had made On a separate note and pardon me for my lack of knowledge but can anyone tell me what this is and what is it's purpose? I notice it's on some Cummins and not others? BJ's rig had a Cummins NTC400BC. Does anyone know if this part is standard on that motor or should it be left off? Cheers Chris
  12. Still alive!!! Thanks for the interest guys. This is my pet project and I've never built a truck model before(apart from a 1/32 BJ kit) so want to get it right. But yes it's been a long time since I've updated and even worked on it. I have still been sourcing aftermarket parts such as the Ben Wicker aluminum wheels, I posted shots of that in another thread titled "Aluminum 10-hole Alcoas". They are awesome so thanks to Ben and Jim Littiken for those. Been hell busy as I'm trying to get into the Australian Army as a helicopter pilot so it's taking a lot of my focus, that and my new baby girl Charlie, free time is hard to find!!! Enough excuses though. I have completely changed the work I've done on the motor again! I have got a hold of a few pieces from an Italeri Cummins which I'm incorporating into the Revell motor. I will try and post some pics of that tomorrow. I sometimes think my vision far exceeds my skill level though, especially when I see fine work like Sergey's "Love Machine" build for instance. That is some master work. I need to get cracking. Chris
  13. I found out the hard way about cats and models not mixing. I had about 8 helicopters all sitting nicely on top of a feature wall about 8ft high until I came home from work one day and my cat had systematically knocked off every single one!! He wasn't popular for a while that's for sure!!
  14. Yes cheers. 13/64 would be an option too if you can tubing that size? 13/64 is 5.15mm
  15. Contact Jim Littiken (hoosierminiatures@gmail.com) he makes them. I think they cost me 12 bucks a wheel. The lugnuts are another story, quite expensive(100 cost me $60 bucks) but they are nice. I had Ben polish my wheels up for me after Jim made them which maybe an option as well. Chris
  16. G'day guys. Just want to show off these superb aluminum wheels designed by Ben Wicker and machined by Jim Littiken. They're for my "BJ and the Bear" 1/25th build. Lugnuts are from rbmotion. Highly recommend these to anyone looking for that extra detail. The hubs are also Ben Wicker designed. Many thanks to Ben for all the help and ongoing tips he has been giving me regarding the wheels and truck modeling in general. I've never really built truck models so I've been doing extensive research on the matter. Here's the quick mock-up; Enjoy! Cheers Chris
  17. I'm replacing the kit stacks in the Revell K100 kit for some aluminum ones, anyone know the correct size to be getting? 3/16(4.76mm)? I'm not sure what the 1:1 dimensions are on the real thing. They are to be original(factory) size replacement. Cheers Chris
  18. Hey Roy. Your BJ truck looks great! Ya get those 2-holes yet? I would love to know what problems you had with the Revell kit so I know what I'm getting myself into. I've got plenty of mods to look forward to but how bout the kit itself? Any fitment problems etc? Here's my current list of mods for it; Aluminum wise I have fuel tanks, airhorns, stacks and wheels(great Ben Wicker designed alcoas machined by Jim Littiken which I will be posting some pictures of real soon!) Other aftermarket parts I have are 2-hole buds for the trailer, hubs, quarter fenders, mudflaps, interior fans, etched Kenworth logos, the list goes on! The Revell front bumper needs to be shaved down a tad, it's a bit too deep(height wise), heavy mods on the ERTL Great Dane Reefer are also required, namely adding extra ribs, moving the side door forward a bit, modifying the rear doors/taillights to name but a few. I suppose I better get cracking on it!! Chris
  19. Great detail Scott! How'd ya go about doing the trailer door hinges?? they look awesome
  20. I thought the rear doors on these Italeri reefer/cargo trailers do not open? Pretty poor if that's the case. Chris
  21. Yeah mate they're on their way. It can take a couple of days for a reply.
  22. I just ordered some 2-hole trailer buds off him last week.
