  1. There was a 2-Day "Halloween" 50% off sale at Michael's, so I snuck over to get my requisite $10 model kit Best part I got another 50% coupon with my receipt...so I guess I will make another trip over next weekend too.
  2. Go over to www.policecarmodels.com they'll have the decals you need. They also have a 1:27 diecast '08 Tahoe from Welly. http://policecarmodels.com/we120chtapos.html
  3. Why was your thread involved in a tragic kiln explosion? Alright to stop being ya know, and be helpful...I don't think anything here has ever been deleted other than those threads that get a little too lively. Go out to the main page for General (or wherever the thread was originally posted) and scroll down to the bottom and you'll see a little link that says "Click here to show filter options". Click on that, then a box will appear with a sort function, select the first drop down box that says "Show Type" and select "Topics: I Started" then hit the "Go" button. The General forum will then reload with only topics you personally created, and I'm sure all the information you're looking for is sitting there all lonely awaiting your return.
  4. I've found that if I just turn on my tap all the way on hot till is starts steaming, it gets plenty warm to do the job. As someone who once boiled the water out of a pot I was going to make Mac N Cheese with I hesitate recommending actually leaving something on a stove. I have a little tupper-ware wanna-be container that's about as deep as a standard Testors can, and about twice as round. Put the can in the hot water and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes (or until the can is warm), then shake it up and head outside. The one thing I hate dealing with is the smell of Testors enamel primer...that stuff stinks for a week (or until you paint over it).
  5. There wasn't exactly much from Round 2 that interested me other than the reissue of 1965 Chevelle Station Wagon. Anxiously awaiting all 3 Moebius kits... From Revell I'm looking forward to the previously announced 2010 Mustang and... 2010 Camaro SS '69 COPO Nova '62 Impala SS Ferrari 458 Italia Ferrari California Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Remember that the iHobby releases only cover 1st & 2nd Quarters of 2011. There's a whole nother half year of goodness yet to come. Wouldn't be surprised to see several more Mustang issues upcoming including a 2011 GT with the correct 5.0 engine, maybe the GT-500, the new BOSS 302...lotta options there. Also be interested to see if they issue a Camaro Convertible, and/or do anything with the ZR-1 tooling (a Z06, Grand Sport, or convertible since the last set of Vette issues are 5-6 model years old).
  6. Reminds me of the time I had to strip the hood on a '62 Belair 409 kit 5 times before the paint would stop acting all wonky around the top edge. It was like crazing, except no actual damage was done. But you hung in there and got it done finally, and that's the most important part. I too have one of the '63 Ford kits sitting around, be interested to see what you do with yours.
  7. Found this at Wal*Mart today for $9.99...was looking for a Diplomat, but this will suffice. Haven't taken it apart to see how much work it needs yet...

  9. Well March 10th will be my first wedding anniversary, but our actual "getting together" deal is in the summer on July 9th (which is easy to remember since it's the day before my birthday), and for that one it'll be 6 years.
  10. Ahh another 6 months...good they'll be a full THREE years overdue by then. Now that the body style has changed...
  11. Can't be THAT much, there is that new Revell (via RoG) Audi R8.
  12. Paint can turn into a Chevy vs. Ford vs. Dodge style debate. People have their preferences and they stick to them. I myself prefer Tamiya acrylics as the both cover well and are water based, and hence can be cleaned up with water. If I'm going into Testors paint for a specific color, I again prefer acrylics for the clean-up aspect. I hate dealing with paint thinner, but for some colors (Chrysler Engine Red for example) they only offer it in enamels. But as Junkman said you'll have to experiment and find the combination that work best for you. I was an OTR driver for 12+ years, and paint thinner hangs out in the sleeper all day...just sayin' Testors "rattle can" primer works just fine in both it's enamel and lacquer variations. Just remember don't cross the streams, especially lacquer over enamel primers. A lot of people around here swear by Tamiya primers, but I too have a hard time finding them. I would also suggest a polishing kit, I have one from Micro-Mesh. Includes sandpaper on a flexible backing from 2400 to 12000 grits for block wet-sending your paint. That can correct a lot of small paint mistakes and generally take overall paint from meh to Oooooo. I got mine from Micro-Mark (which has all sorts of paycheck draining tools to choose from), it's $24.95 in the current catalog (and you can order online).
  13. Came back from the Post Office after finding my latest bargain basement eBay deal. I've taken the shrink off it to check the parts inside, but factory sealed kit for $3.61!!! With S&H is was under $10...can't be that with a X-Acto.
  14. Is this a trans-kit for the RoG kit, or an entire kit?
  15. Nice job! I was just looking at box of the one in my stash, might have to peek inside and take a look at it now.
  16. Not my normal taste in subject matter, but it's been fun to watch anyway for the techniques and for a sneak peak at the kit. Final assembly and eye candy is excellent.
  17. Nice job, does it have bullet holes on the passenger side of the dash too?
  18. Unless it stayed up in Houston, or went to another major Texas city (think San Antonio, Austin, or Dallas/FW), that thing is gone. Depending on when it got stolen vs. when they realized it was stolen...it's only 6 1/2 hours to the border from Baytown.
  19. I too vote for Virginia Beach. Of course being my city of birth, I might be biased. The overall Tidewater (or Hampton Roads) area is the 15th largest metro area in the U.S., so there's plenty to see and do across the area. Plus as Ed mentioned it's 60-75 miles to Richmond (depending on where you land). Unless it's closed down, there is also a model club down there in VaB, in addition to the guys up in Richmond.
  20. I know some people view Wal*Mart as evil incarnate, but for the hobbyist who doesn't have a LHS within a reasonable driving distance, ordering from Walmart.com is going to be cheaper than going through eBay once you factor in that Walmart will ship it to your local store for free.
  21. In the other post you just had two tags, one has to have the slash (aka /IMG) to complete the PHP code, otherwise you just leave it hanging with two starting tags. When you typed it in by hand, you use the right set, and it worked!
  22. Been following the build. Nice to see this one done. Excellent job!
  23. Oooooo I likey! Looks very sinister with the chrome shaved. Nice subtle spoiler too...I read the description and then had to look for it, as I hadn't even noticed it, since it flowed so well with the existing lines.
  24. Recent eBay winnings. All of this was $55 including shipping. All are open, sealed inside.
  25. I do some eBaying during the year, but I primarily buy my kits either through the LHS or if there are several I want to get I wait till it's time for a model show/swap meet to roll around. I find I can buy in "bulk" and work better deals with vendors in person in that environment.
