  1. Thanks guys for all the comments.. It was fun to build but i think of all the trucks i built this one took the most time. Round 2 is apparently reissuing this kit at some time next year.. so i guess ill buy another one then.. im anxious for the K123 Kenworth and the Fruehauf Van trailer but they keep pushing the date back on them.
  2. Hey guys its been a while.. but I finally got the truck done.. and im fairly pleased with the way it came out. I feel its a great scale representation of the truck my dad drove and I grew up riding in. The hardest parts were hand painting stripes, the front axle placement, and the front quarter fenders for the hood.. mostly because they came with no mounting hardware and i had to scratch build. I used the AMT Diamond Kit but streched the frame and used an aftermarket hood, A Kenworth 36 inch sleeper, wheels from another kit, some odds and ends i picked up from sourkaut, and scratch built the bumper, the bumper poles, I cut down a barrel fuel tank to make a small hydraulic fluid tank and moved the exhaust system behind the sleeper. When I moved the exhaust i scratch built an exhaust stack bracketting system. Please let me know what ya think, all comments welcome! Anyways here she is..
  3. Wow thats really cool and it is like a medical procedure haha.. what would ya call it tho? Tire Grafting? lol
  4. Wow those are all very very nice builds. very nice job on that custom pete too.. i like the hood. Looking forward to seeing more from ya man.. theyre awesome
  5. Thats one heck of a truck.. you're really stretching it buddy. haha
  6. thats a cool build i like the weathering and i couldnt help but notice that while setting in the woods some vandals must have stolen the grille of that hood! haha neat build!
  7. See thats the CHDT hood which was an early marmon. Im not sure what a donor kit would be for that, it says peterbilt 359 for a donor but if you look up one of these trucks they had a typical marmon design real boxy looking conventional cab almost looks like an international cab.
  8. So I was just checking for myatomic.com and it says wait for details.. so i checked out on google and apparently Myatomic.com has gone out of business.
  9. Yea they were a cool ride. I know theyre boxy looking but the Marmon 110" cabover was a neat truck too.
  10. O im not sure I thought it was available because it was in their catalog. So I figured it was. You could be right Jim it might not be. Mopar your best bet might be to check in with them and see.
  11. Hey they sell the conversion kits at www.aitruckmodels.com they sell the cab and hood set up and then the highrise sleeper as well. hope this helps
  12. From the pictures In seeing it looks like theyre passed through loop holes in the uprights and if you notice in that red picture if you look close you see a cable clamp on it. Your best best is if the holes are already on the kit take some picture hanging wire like they use on the back of framed pictures and loop that through and fasten the two ends together. This is only my assumption looking at the pictures posted.
  13. Wow hey this is a great tutorial I have been seeing these trucks with hinge work done to them and wondered how they did it. Now this concept can be applied to the doors on the cab as well?
  14. thats a really great looking build. I like the color. where did you get your air shield?
  15. Kit came and Ive started on it. I stretched the frame out alil bit but my camera died soo I'll get some pics up as soon as I can.
  16. Soo the hood came yesterday as well as the swan hood ornaments and cb antennas and the rest of the care package.. and it dawned on me I still have not recieved my model. Its been two weeks and he hasnt even returned an email to me. Starting to get concerned. Anyways on a lighter note I found styrene sheets at the local ben franklin store and they had 2'x4' .040 mm sheets on sale for 5 bucks a sheet. needless to say i scarfed some up and im considering building a 42 and a half foot Utility brand reefer trailer with it. Im not sure yet.. i know i wouldnt mind building a big ol' bunk for on a KW. haha
  17. Just as a predicted a nice clean looking build. The paint scheme is very cool. Yea the possibilities are endless for these snap 359's you can do just about anything. Anyways Good Job looking to see more from ya.
  18. Looks like its gonna be a sweet ride when your done.
  19. I would have to say I'm partial to Freightliners especially the Midroof style classics.. But I like a good ol' 70's style Kenworth W900 just as much as the next guy. But my all time favorite truck would have to be Diamond Reo. Even when before Diamd T and REO joined together Diamond T trucks were really a flashy truck in the 40's and 50's. They were a truck that came from factory with lots of chrome. Some even had a Hercules motor in them which anymore is obsolete. Yea Diamond Reo is my all time favorite although I'm biast in the fact that I rode in one for my younger years. And COE trucks would be Mack Ultraliner from the 80's. Its interesting to see all the responses from everyone though.. I see alot of popular answers haha.
  20. Hey thats off to great start. I like the nickname haha. Those snap petes are a great kit to build.
  21. Thats a great build. Its a good solid looking truck with some gripper tires on the back. I like your airbrushing. Nice Stripes.
  22. What a setup, between that motor and that gearing, that truck is an animal. Heck of a start, like where its goin and cant wait to see it done!
  23. Thats a really cool build its aa truck you dont see many of around especially models. They werent ugly trucks just boxy and different.. I'm one to say theres no such thing as an ugly truck lol
  24. Yea thats gonna be a nice build when you finish up on it. I've never got into the Euro Trucks but its interesting to see what the have. Nice mork so far.
  25. Good Looking truck! ya gonna put a wagon behind then too?
