  1. why does it have those forward-slanted c-pillars? the box art shows a normal-roofed Barracuda.
  2. the chrome is terrific IMHO... although it seems that there are many who will simply "chuck it in the pond" without a second thought. i was pleasantly surprised to see the bumpers without any seams marring the face.... very nice. perhaps the interior side panel details are a bit heavy; i can't tell; they look fine to me. it's a splendid companion to the Hudson; the engine looks magnificent; in all, it simply BEGS for attention to detail painting. btw... it's BIG. proper '50's luxury car big.... trying to put all the parts back into the box is akin to stuffing an octopus into a rucksack....
  3. My Son gave me one for an early birthday present; i looked it over last night but my back was bothering me so badly i couldn't concentrate on it. this morning i gave it a real grokking; went over the instructions and the sales brochure as well. sooooo.... put it this way: Moebius has stomped squarely into what used to be sole realm of Tamiya or Revell. the sprues are clean and crisp; very little if ANY flash; positive locating points; good if not excellent scale proportion and fidelity..... beautiful tampo printed wide whites..... and although i found one mis-named part in the instruction sheet, the instructions are easy to follow and beautiful to look at. if Moebius took on the mantle of replacing the existing poorly tooled kits from other manufacturers, they would quickly supplant them in the industry. as it is, however; i hope that they continue turning out kits of Hudson/300 caliber from the HUGE list of never-seen-styrene models.
  4. TJ Hooker. probably the worst offender for mis-ID'd cruisers.... but, then again, we were supposed to be enthralled by the acting, right? personally, i like Rockford Files. you get to see some truly interesting cars on there; even besides his iconic Formula Firebird. i like OLD movies because of the era-correct cars used in them...
  5. you know; when the model is sitting on a shelf, it's dang near impossible to see any detail under the hood or on the chassis..... i don't let people randomly pick up models, because hoods fall off, fat fingers knock off mirrors, etc... and of the several '66 'Stangs in my collection, i'm sure a couple have Cragars or Torqs on them.
  6. Harry, if you photoshopped some canopy glue peeking out from under one of the windows...... or a missed sprue-joint reveal on some chrome......... hint hint
  7. it's really one of the best looking concept cars ever made, IMHO... the fact that Ford built it on a driveable chassis instead of it being a "pushmobile" like many concept cars showed a remarkable amount of faith and foresight! too bad they didn't have Rain-X in the fifties..... so many bubble cars, so few windshield wipers! btw; it's not as big in real life as it LOOKS in scale.... trick of perception!
  8. builds up as a fairly nice street car, as well, even without stock wheels.... very crisp details, very straightforward kit. your weathering is very good!
  9. yeahhhh... i don't mix scales, other than 1/25-1/24.
  10. i'd like to see a H-D pulling around a '39 Chevy, even if it's only 2/3's of one. then again... i see lots of H-D's hauling around some real huskies..... must be more power in them than i thought.
  11. oh my gosh you're building a rarity like that? hahahaha... you go right on and BUILD it... love to see the finished model!
  12. Terry, i enjoy your work immensely.... i love that AMT '34. i KNOW you have to have some '53 Ford f100's built.... pics of them, as well, please?
  13. Cranky, that recoilless looks like a pretty simple affair to do with styrene tube and stuff from the junk box... i've built a couple of .30 cals from scratch to play with... tell ya what; drilling cooling holes in those barrel jackets is teeeedious.
  14. i almost expected a full-on bash of this kit... i've built several; they do have some issues that most kits do not.... i still love the finished product enough to spend the time getting it straight.
  15. three bucks for a kit that you would pay twenty-five or more for at a hobby shop is a darn good deal, dated molds and low detail notwithstanding. i'm surprised at how many of us who've been building since these were new releases are still in the hobby, having had to deal with literally hundreds of low-res kits over the years..... just plain stubborn, i guess. we didn't have much choice but to take what was offered in the "good old days"..... we're spoiled by numerous choices today.
  16. i've dealt with Spotlight and Model Express and have been satisfied each and every time. Ebay, only twice, and i think i was lucky. shoot, with my f150, it's twenty bucks to get to the corner grocery.... yikes.
  17. which kit are you referring to? AMT has a multiple version B-body based on the '68 Road Runner that includes a '69 GTX in coupe and convertible, IIRC... the differences mainly being trim level as the RR was essentially a Satellite on steroids, where the GTX was loaded with options. kitbash the interior tub and trim parts from a GTX and the body from the RR and you got it. if you want the cleanest 1/25 body, find a JoHan Oval Stock Racer '69 RR and use the AMT chassis and trim. Monogram's 1/24 RR is not a GTX, and IIRC they don't have the parts to kitbash in any other 1/24 kit. resin aftermarket, maybe. Spotlight Hobbies usually has all of the AMT B-Bodies on hand.
  18. i was astounded to see a respected ammunition manufacturer jumping on the bandwagon... Hornady sells "Zombie grade" ammo... maybe it's just me that sees it.... are we setting ourselves up to actually trigger the ZA somehow? soon as you mention something unpleasant, what happens? riiiggghhhtt..... i mean, here we are almost ready to re-elect Obama.... the ZA wouldn't be too hard to see coming right after that. according to all accounts, Zombies have little to no hand-eye coordination.... so find out who has the kit stash in your neighborhood. chances are, they'll be entirely unable to build those kits, so help yourselves.
  19. i saw a short about a guy "waking up" to find himself dead, and the hassles he faced getting to "move on"... another one about a guy who gets bitten, and the struggle to keep himself from turning.... i read "I am Legend" the other night; granted, the dead are vampires, not zombies, but the story is engrossing.
  20. i've tried the liquid cement trick but had bad luck with it... the cement weakens the plastic around the joint, not the joint itself, when i've done it, and i end up with parts having chunks break out of them. maybe i'm doing it wrong.... very possible. most of the gluebombs i've rebuilt were in pieces when i got 'em....
  21. looks like the beginnings of a Jawa Sand Crawler..... but, those blast points are too precise.
  22. i'm going with real.... not sure how long it takes for a diecast maker to tool up a new model, but it looks too perfect to be a diecast. not aware of anybody kitting one in plastic...... hey, Big Three 1:1 automakers: THIS is what an electric car can and should look like. NOT something from a manga comic strip.
  23. you mistook the dome light recess for an ejection pin mark.

    VW 1300

that's a very nice Kafer! i can almost hear the "chuff-chuff" of the old aircooled now!
