It is a 67, Smokey thought the 66 front end was more aerodynamic. So he modified the body to use the 66 rear bumber and taillight panel. There where 2 Smokey Chevelles, the one for sale if the last of the 2. The other one was wrecked and GM wanted the parts back from the car, because of the controversy. Smokey had the car cubed and sent to GM.

Cool build. What red did you use?

It really would have been something, if the cammers and the hemis could have gone head to head (maybe a little pun intended)!

"LiL" John Lombardo Corvette Roadster F/C
biscayne63 replied to John Teresi's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Hi John. If I don't matter, how about a build off? 60's - 70's dragster or F/C? Build the same car head to head. We could post in process pics here and have the guys on the forum pick their favorite. -
After I get the body a little smoother, will look into if the roof dip is too much or not. Thanks for keeping me honest.

Here is a question for everyone. Have alot a masters done for dragsters like this and they are solid. When I cast them would you guys want them hollow or solid? Any imput would be great. Thanks! -
Here is the start of one of Smokey's Chevelles. Flared out the wheel wells and made the dip in the roof, starting on the chassis - floorpan next. Got lucky with pics, the car is for sale now and the site had a bunch of pics.

A piece of Mercedes history in LSR. The car that never was Diamler Benz T80. In getting ready for it's record attempt on the Autobahn, World War II broke out and ended it's chance at the record. It sat in a secret Mercedes warehouse till the mid 70's, when it was shown to the public for the first. It sits on display at the Mercedes museum today. This is the 1/24 pattern for my mold.

Hi, Speed City Resin makes the body. If you go to drag racing models in this forum, you will see one being built. -
Great news for Drag Race modelers
biscayne63 replied to 1320wayne's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Just a comment, tires aren't flat in the tread area they should have a crown. This has been the problem with almost all model tires made. Look at real tires, they are not flat. If you stand a drag slick that is inflated up, it tips to one side or the other. With that tire being hollow, maybe you could put plug in there to create the inflation crown or blunge. -
Hi Micheal, I have been working as a model maker for 20 years, from architectural, prototype and auto development. Have worked as a clay automotive modeler for 10 years, been building 1/4 scale to full size cars, suvs and trucks in clay for most of the largest auto manufacturers. Sculpted funny car bodies for John Force and Chrysler Motorsports. Jay Leno's Ecojet, Fisker's Karma & Sunset, Tesla's Model S and Aptera's Concept. My favorite car I sculpted is the current Challenger. So after saying all this, I'll walk you thru the process. You should know the pride of making something from scratch. Ask me as many questions as you want, we will take it step by step. First thing to know is too many cooks ruin the soup. You can keep the process public if you want or you can email me BPETTERSEN@MODELO-GROUP.COM.

You need good side pics, front & rear & top if you can get it. From those pics start getting the measurements of the details. Scale the pics from your measurements. Decide if you can used another model as a base. Or you can get and block of medium density foam or balsa wood and start blocking in the shape. Once you have it kinda blocked in, get better detail shots of the contour of the body side & the hood & roof & trunk lid. Keep checking the pics, compare the shapes. Have pics from different angles and compare them to the model. Once you get it to primer you can start adding details like mouldings. The more pics the better! Get it to that point and we can talk about molding it.

Master Modeler?????
biscayne63 replied to curt raitz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Interesting topic! Have seen this on ebay too, or pro built! "Master Modeler" is a title reserved for a modeler that makes a living as a modeler and has at least 10 professional years under their belt. A "Master Modeler" does not use kits, or there is very limited use of kit parts. Modelers that master resin models could fit that description. -
Yeah the bodies should be done in a month.

This is the master for my mold. I need to start cutting the body up to thin out the inside of the body. This will make the first version 426 wedge, hemi and the olds powered versions. Will start building the chassis after body is done. Model is based on the real car, got to spend about 8 hours photographing and measuring the real carhttp://public.fotki.com/biscayne63/models/dscf0991.htmlhttp://public.fotki.com/biscayne63/models/dscf0993.html.

Here's a link to a comp resins body on ebay. He wants 40 bucks, but I think you can get it through slixx for 20 something. http://cgi.ebay.com/Rear-Engine-Cuda-Funny-Car-Resin-Body-1-25-MINT_W0QQitemZ220666872833QQcategoryZ166798QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3907.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSI%252BSIC%26itu%3DUCI%252BUA%252BFICS%252BIA%252BUFI%252BDDSIC%26otn%3D8%26pmod%3D360168494030%252B280568555051%252B320564169400%26po%3DLVI%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D5330010248236957067

Yeah, someone needs to do this car justice and build an all out model of it. Saw one done some place, but they used the comp resin body and it was still all warped. Slixx was going to do the decals for it, you could fudge the f/e slixx decals. Build the 392 red one and the 426 blue one. The red one still exists up in Canada, Jim Dunn dosen't know what happened to the blue one.
