  1. Thank you for posting this. I've been wondering how to make an elliptical tank.
  2. I've wished for this for years. Parts packs for trucks would be great. I like your truck body idea, too. Take it one step further:Trailer kits that include the extra parts and instructions to convert to a straight truck body like the Ertl Tri axle dump trailer had.
  3. The trailer from part 1 is actually a 40 ft trlr. It bears a very strong resemblance to AMT's Fruehauf Reefer. The reefer unit from the Great Dane reefer kit used with the Fruehauf trailer should present a close match.
  4. Cool project Dave! Are you going with an axle forward setup, or are you going to leave the set back front axle?
  5. That's the one right there. I thought it was a GMC, but I guess not. I'm sure the square headlights are a retrofit, but that's the bus. Thanks.
  6. I thought you guys might like to see this page. Lots of Fishbowls through the years. Shows several NYCTA buses from back when they were a pretty Forest Green color as well. Enjoy. http://web.utk.edu/~gallant/gmcbuses.html
  7. I have a GMC bus question for you. This model was similar to the fishbowl, but the rear window was flat(no curvy shape) and rectangular. The front windsheild was has no curve to the glass("bowl" if you will), but similar shape. It sort of followed the fishbowl windsheild design, but without the bowl shape to the glass. The sides were essentially the same as a fishbowl. I don't know if it was the one gmc5105 was talking about or not. I saw less of them than I did of the fishbowl. I know NYC Transit Authority ran quite a few of these when I was living there as a child. That is where I saw most of these, and they ran the streets the same time as the fishbowl. If I find a pic I'll post. Anyhow, what model was this, or is this the bus gmc5105 was referring to. It came out b4 the RTS I believe. Unlike the fishbowl, I never saw it as anything other than a transit bus. I'm not sure if it had the tear drop shaped window behind the front doors/driver's window either. What made me think of it was that I saw one just after I read this post, partially stripped, sitting in a field in New Mexico along I 40 east of Albuquerque.
  8. I would love to see a thread on how to do this. It would be a neat feature to add.
  9. Wow, and I thought I had a bad night when my Astro's dashboard turned out like ###### on Sunday night when I painted it. Well, hopefully you at least have salvageable parts.
  10. I have 2 built for '07. It was the Autocar DC and dump trailer(counting them separately) I finished back in May. Well, then again, I still need to tarp the trailer. As for projects started, they would be, in order, my White Freightliner Drom tractor, my Pete 358, and my GMC Astro daycab which is almost done. I made a little progress on my Ford LN 8000 single axle tractor, but not much. Tim, I saw a white 377 you built this year that I really liked. I had not noticed that one before. Nice job. I had fun watching all the builds on the forum here this past year. My goals for 2008 are to finish the aforementioned projects along with restoring the very first truck I ever built, an R Model Mack, built in July of 1991. Good luck on everyone's projects.
  11. This was pretty interesting. I learned some cool things about a classy truck.
  12. Love that Fishbowl!! It brings back some memories 4 me as well. They hung around a long time, too. I remember seeing several transit authorities operating them into the 1990's. Nice job you did.
  13. Nice and smple. Good looking truck.
  14. Hi there Matt. I know we talked about your hands acting up, but I've been curious to see if things have improved. It's good to hear you'll still be casting. You produced some really cool items, so when I got the email about the new site, I wanted eveyone to know. You've got quite a following, which is a credit to the quality of your work. I hope things get better.
  15. I know what you mean. I just sold a handful of items myself, and the fees add up quick.
  16. Some of you may not know that Matt Burnett of Monkey Claw Models sold his truck molds to Brad Lawson. Here is a link to Brad's new website, BRL Model Truck Shop. It look slike he added some items. Not all of the old stuff is ready, but I think you will enjoy the lineup. http://www.brlmodeltruckshop.com/Products.html Enjoy
  17. I asked Sharon if she would be bringing the flatroof conversion back and she said it probably will be back, but not for awhile. I've noticed her catalog is shrinking a little, so I've been snatching up those items I've been meaning to get before they disappear.
  18. I checked with STS about 2 weeks ago, and she doesn't stock the flat roof anymore. I kept 4 getting to order it, and when I asked, Sharon at STS said the mold went bad. I don't know if it's being brought back or not.
  19. It looks feasable, although I never tried. I wondered that about the Revell AG cab, as I have a spare and I thought the opening doors would be a nice touch. I wonder if the Revell dash would fit the AMT cab. Hmmmm...........
