  1. 8) Yeah!!! Stylin' and PROfilin'! That's cool.
  2. EaglePassNative, do you live in that pretty canyon in Colorado on I 70???? That is one of my absolute favorite spots to drive through. It's gorgeous, as for the trailers, I know that some real trailers of this type are built the very same way, by cutting down old freight vans. Makes a really cool display.
  3. That's the one I was talking about right there!!! Chris, you do excellent work. I downloaded all the pix you posted on the other site to study. Again, very well done.
  4. Living in western Pennsylvania myself, and being someone who regularly "haunted" I 80, this build gave me flashbacks from driving that road everyday. Awesome. Simply awesome. You inspired another trip to the drawing board for me.
  5. Incidentally, it's official. This will be pulling a "michigan Train". I grabbed 2 more dump trailer kits from the basement while I was home this weekend. I with the leftovers, I can at least begin 2 other projects. I'm going to shorten the second trailer the same way Tim did to his Michigan train, making it a "pup".
  6. Thanks Turbo. I've been following the progress on that Petermonster you're building. This Autocar was my favorite model of all I've done. I have 2 more teenage builds to restore, which include the very first truck I ever built. Progress has slowed somewhat, but the cab is stripped and ready to be primed. I just have to find a good way to make the headliner. that's what's on Ray's drawing board at present.
  7. How did you ever find all of the dimensions, etc for the trailer? I would love to build one for a 50's/60's truck. You did a very good job.
  8. Yet another cool idea. i didn't realize there were so many possibilities with this kit. I can't wait to see this one.
  9. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=008 Here it is, the book that started it all for me. even it went for a high price, but is a testimony to a timeless classic. I still refer to it, and I bought my copy in May of 1991.
  10. I'll forgive you this time for removing the Cummins. LOL. The old 2 strokes were fun. I got a chance to drive a Sliver 92, and an 8v 71 and liked them, but they were too loud for me. really cool project idea. As 4 the inspiration, it reminds me of the red KW that wrecks during the credits. that's what I first thought of when I saw the tank behind the cab.
  11. Lookin good Tim. Quick question, is the Italeri 378 still available, or did they kill off yet another truck kit? I have one saved for my Bill Drennen 379 conversion, but I would like to find one or two more. You'll never guess who inspired some projects that I have written down. Anyway, I can't wait to see #10.
  12. That is definately a Detroit Diesel 8V92 Silver.
  13. That is funny! They won't run out of food anytime soon if they can bring him home. Great dio.
  14. I was making that up to be funny, but like I say, when it comes to model railroad items, you can really get into details. I should've known you could get that item. LOL.
  15. This is what it looks like from inside the cab: The screen to the left is the menu, the white wire is the ethernet cable. the cable tv jack is next to the bottom electrical outlet, below it is the phone jack. Now you know what those big yellow tubes are.
  16. Thank you Dave. Another cool project to put on paper at the drawing board. thanks.
  17. That's not wood, that's vinyl/leather. OK. I downloaded the whole brochure. Lots of detail shots in there. This time I was smart enough to enlarge the pix. thanks again.
  18. Sounds like you have to jump through a lot of hoops.
  19. i wonder if that was the common spread used for the old 40 ft trailers. 8'6". Years ago, I bought an AMT Fruehauf flatbed at a swap meet with a conversion done to it. When I get home I'll post a pic. It has the big leaf spring between the spread axles, but they look like a 10' 2" spread. It just needs to be loaded and hooked up. i just can't decide what tractor to use with it, but whoever did it did a nice job. Yours is coming along nicely.
  20. Hmmm. that is an interesting setup, but I don't believe we have that over here. Some heavy hauler might have one I don't know about though.
