'DRAG' SLOT CAR BUILDING
Smart-Resins replied to Drag Slot Builder's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I did a quick google search and I cant remember if it was amazon or shopzilla I found mine through, but I got it for $75 including shipping. Michaels also had the same thing. If your someplace that has a hobby lobby, you might be able to find a sale coupon for up to 50% off, then you could save that way as well. Thanks. Jody -
'DRAG' SLOT CAR BUILDING

Nice jobs so far! I just recently got a Paasche VL dual action brush with three different size needles. I find it very easy to use with good results as a beginner. Thanks. Jody -
That is very cool! Jody

alright. I got it done. First, I will admit, not the way I wanted it and I got pretty upset today. I had a wired distributor and starter to go into it and was going to wire the battery box and gaugesect. However my micro drill bits (whole case) is MIA. Last time I used them was in TN. So they may be gobne for good. This is upsetting because I can not afford new ones for sometime being on unemployment. So I am really bummed out because I really want to start wiring my models!! Anyways, without further ado, here are the finished pics from yesterday and today! Thanks. Jody

I have the 540 CI Merlin Motor out of the Grave Digger kit. I am using it in a project where I am totally reqworking the motr. I also have the RMOM Dual Fuel Pump. I am wanting reference pictures to show me what these pumps are supposed to look like as well as how they are supposed to be plumbed. Also, any reference to the 540 Merlins set up for drag racing would be super cool. Thanks. Jody

Any clubs in upstate NY
Smart-Resins replied to jeffinvt's topic in Model Club News and Announcements
My ubderstanding is there is one in Syracuse, wich helps put together the mini nats at the east coast event. Also I hear there is one in Rochester whom just put on a show in Canandagua this year. I dont have any info on that one. But I might could dig up info through a friend on the other one. Jody -
Here is another quick update. First, I scrounged around for a over sized quick change, then some quick change outer axle halves for the right scale. I cut off the oversized outer axle halves and glued on the 1/25 ones. Then I took a fresh motor from the grave digger and cut off the transmission and rear mount. Then I cut off the front mount. After that I started to scratch build my new frame for this. More to come on the frame including engine mounts and drive shaft loops. Thanks. Jody

I do have a 1/8 skull shifter to work with. A tad small, so I am not sure!!probably be best to start with either a 1/26 or 1/12 scale skull ( not shifter either) for it. If I cant work wonders with it, I will use the engines blower. Wich this one is just for mock up. I have a fresh one I will be using for this. Thanks. Jody

Thanks. I already snatched those pics from your thread. Thanks. Hope you dont mind!! As for the butterflies, those are the eyes that open! Thanks for the comments guys!! Jody

I do have a 1/8 skull shifter I may try to convert? Probably not for this build, but I have not decided yet. However, if I do it and its good, Ill cast it. Thanks. Jody

Vizio, that motor came from the Grave Digger kit. Thanks. Jody

alright, now time for a question. I have three sets of tires I can use. I am really tossed up between wich ones to use. The treaded street tire, the pie crust slick or the good year slick? Thanks. Jody
-
Alright. I stole the chassis from my 29. So in the future I will be looking for another good 32 chassis. LOL. Anyways, I had to do a pie cut(addition) to give the frame more kick up in the rear. Now I have to make it slightly longer to make room for the motor. I was debating using a 1/20 scale motor, but found a large enough 1/24 scale motor to make me happy. It yells power as well! I am using some 1/20 scale slicks in the rear to make them bigger as in the inspirational model. also using the side pipes from the engine I found. Here is a quick mock up to give yall the idea or concept I am after. Thanks. Jody

Having a stalled project that I had a good idea on, but not really me anymore, I decided to use it to create something simular to these inspirational pics. Now, this one glue bomb car that has traveled the world round, will end up being rejuvinated into two different creations! This one comes first as it is way wild! The second pic by the way, has become my desktop pic! LOL. Jody

Looks like a good build there! Jody

Hey there. I am converting the mean n nasty camaro kit over to hopefully pro mod I am thinking. I have cut off the hood scoop and will be scratch building a raised rood section for the new scoop to sit on. I am also starting to fabricate the rear wing. I have removed the front cowl opening for a screen. I have molded the body together as one piece. Now, I have a slew of tech questions. LOL. I hope you can help me some. First things first since I am very eager to try a custom paint job on this. Are the windows "bolted" on simular to a funny car body? Now, for some other quick questions, what are the main differences between the pro street and the pro mod? I know the rear wheelie bars are different. Also I know the rims tend to be bead lock ims and the fronts tend to be the comp 5 star rims. Are the rears totally slick, or would the treaded firestones be fine? Basically, I need to know what I need to do to this kit to do the conversion. Again, I am not exspecting all of the answeres, but I would greatly appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks. Jody
