  1. Very cool! Now for that pen, that is on plastic? Looks great! I will have to find one and try it out. I am always getting upset at plastic wood, cutting it out and creating a real pain in the rump to put in real wood! Using venner is one thing over top of plastic, but doing other things in balsa wood is not always the easiest thing! if one can get realistic or almost realistic looking wood from one of those, then it is certainly worth checking out! Jody
  2. Great pics. I love them! Missed my chance to go when I lived down there. Went to a model show instead. Figured I could go this year. But now we live in NY again. Oh well. Only down fall, I could not save any photos! jody
  3. "thimble" and you know I have seen my share of sewers not using them! LOL. Jody
  4. Foxer, what is that thing? LOL. Roadhawg, you just won a cookie my friend! You hit my idea on the head! LOL. I thought I would post this to see what cool ideas are out there, and there are some very cool ones! Keep them coming. Who knows, I might try to find more bubbles for futur builds. LOl. But now my secret is out for what I am planning on doing with it! Jody
  5. Now this makes the fourth time I have read a response on these boards for some sort of alian cruiser! I really should have thought of that one! However, My idea came from playing a junior monopoly game!! LOl. It has something to do with past time fun at fairs ( when I was a kid tha is)LOL. Jody
  6. Well, I have glued my fingers together. I have actually glued a cut together/ LOl. Good doctorin there! I have painted myself more then models I think. Yes, I ahve even butchered my self too. I had been cutting a top off of a car while watching a movie and slipped and cut a nice 1/2 v slice out of my thumb almost to the bone. Very not good. Oh, instead of going to the hospitol for stitches, that is the time I glued my cut so it would heal. yes I have a scar, but would have had anyways! None of it compares to the cut I got opening a glass bay food jar though that would not open!! That almost took my knuckle off from the fingernail on the middle finger, across the first knuckle and half way up to the second knuckle!! By the way, never went to the docotrs then either!! I wrapped it up in paper towels and masking tape. LOL. So who needs doctors? LOL. DID not know about the super glue trick then!Jody
  7. George, that is really good! ROFLMBO!! And to think, they are the ones not filing bankrupty yet! This world is going somewheres in a hand basket! LOl. Sorry Ford guys. Only voicing my feelings, not yours. Jody
  8. Alright. When ordering parts to get my computer back up and running, I was forced to get some parts for the wifes computer since we had been running her tower on my system. LOL. One of the items was a wireless mouse. When I opened it up, I saw this big clear bubble I could not bring myself to throw out. I have been sitting here looking at it for a week! I think I know what I might use it for. But first, would like to see what you think you might be able to build out of it! Talk about building out of the box and scratch building! Here you go, the possabilities are endless! Only model piece I am thinking I will need will be a steering wheel! LOL. Jody
  9. Greed came in and soiled! Our economy was faultering over a year ago. Gas prices finially went down and economy went up some giving a false hope. Gas prices are going up, economy going south. Thats just a srat. But gas effects most any thing any more.I think we all saw the big turn in the automotive world durring the 70's when the gas wars had changes the auto industries veiw of cars. Before then, the American automotive manufacturers ruled. After that, the imports started to come in with thier higher milage cars. This hurt the industry here. Eventually they cried that the importers were coming in too cheap to compet5e with. So, it was made so that the importers would have to pay more so that GM and Ford and Chrystler could better compete. What did they do, they got gready and raised thier prices. How in the world is that competing? Now lets go back to the evil gas discussion, in the late 80's and 90's, we started seeing larger increases in gas and it effecting other things.Combine the two ideas and I am sure we can agree that in the 90's is when things started to slide south and everyone wanted to ignore it. We have had every president since have to come in and "fix" the budget, appeasing us and making us all(used loosley here) happy. But by the time thier term was up, it was messed up again and we were looking for someone else to "fix" it. Many are happy with how Oboma is "fixing" things right now/ Wait until he is done and we need the next one to "fix" it!! Crued oil is down compared to last year, but yet I have seen gas prices increase $0.25 in the last 4 days!!As the price goes up, fewer poeple will want to go out next weekend!! Where on the other hand, if a price cap was to be put into place, more poeple would go out. Heck, if a sale happened next weekend, many would go out just because the gas was so cheap. But they would spend far more on BBQ items, or food, or motels ect. not thinking about it, just because they would be happy to get out because there was a gas sale!! Reverse phsycoligy man!! Want us to spend more, give us something cheaper so we say hey, I saved, lets go spend!! When they allowed all of this money to go to the automotive industry, they thought it would fix the problem. However, the dealerships are still closing and poeple are still losing thier jobs! If they had sent that money to poeple to use on trade ins, there would have been a slew of new cars sold, wich would have helped sustain the industry more!! They sent money to many banks to save them. But the banks are also starting to slowly close because poeple are afraid!! If that money had been sent to the people to help them refiniance thier mortgages, the banks would have gooten the money and poeple would be still in thier homes and spending money on them!! There are many more areas where gread has been involved and over ruled comen sense and yes, this is jut the beginning! Now I know many if not most wont agree with me here, but its just the way I see things according to what I have seen and heard. I think our economy is in a backwards state and slipping down hill in a bad forward motion! Jody
  10. Hello. Thank you for the ideas everyone. I have hear red and yellow are bears and the only real trick is polishing it out. I will find out. Thanks. Jody
  11. Well, I have been working on this one slowly here and there. Nothing like more projects on the bench to help push those almost done ones to the way side. LOl. Thinking a blown 427 in here with huge firestones in the rear and bicycle tires in the front. I will also scratch build opening doors on it and a opening rear trunck area. Thanks. Jody
  12. Yes, I am currently working on Jolley Roger Maverick for a friend as a favor for him. So the Jolley Roger is being ressurected and is alive! LOL. This is a rare kit and was a very bad glue bomb in my opinion! Then again any glue bomb is bad for me. LOL. It is for the most part salvagable. Some parts are in bad shape and will require super glue modeling to it. LOL. Here are some before shots and current shots in primer. Hope you enjoy. Jody
  13. I model cars because I cant get a job modeling underwear!! ROFLMBO!! No seriously. I cant build 1:1s because it is too expensive, so i build models. it is relaxing too. However even this scale is getting overpriced laetly!! Jody
  14. I am wanting to know where I can get preferably a rattle can of Maverick grabber yellow. Or as close to it as I can get? Any help. Thanks. Jody
  15. Mint "T" hey? Nice start! I look forward to the twist you give this! I hope it is sweet! LOL. Jody
  16. I had found that the Alumilite products were usually cheaper in the LHS then they were direct. The shipping was the real killer direct. The Smooth On is much cheaper. Where it would have cost $120 for a gallon of rubber shipped from Alumilite, it cost me under $90 for Smooth On's shipped! For that price difference, I can also get a small kit of the resin. As for them selling starter kits, not to my knowledge. However, the only difference in the starter kits are the stir sticks and the cups. You can find these much much cheaper in other places. Try Mister Art!! I believe you can also get Smooth on and other products through them. I boght my last thousands stir sticks at Micheals for under $10!! to buy from them direct, go to www.technoindustrial.com or call phone# (262)369-1010. For the Resin I use the 325 series and for the rubber I use Mold Max 30. You can call them and tell them better what you use it for and they can tell you what should work best for your situation! I also honestly find it much easier to order it online and have it in a few days as apposed to driving a hour to the LHS to buy some! The shipping is uaually cheaper then driving my van at 14MPG 2 hours total!! LOL. Jody
  17. ROFLMBO!! Funny guys. I must admit about the cars. I used to watch when the King still ran the old cars and watched my next favorite, Dale come into the picture. I have been watching since I was knee high to a grasshopper. So I have enjoyed the sport. Honestly since Dale bit the wall, I have watched nill to none of it. True NASCAR racing is dead as are the real cars. But in my belief, it was NASCAR and drag racing that helped bring the automotive world into the overall racing scene. I think it was drag racing that brought the real light to it and to muscle cars in general. I also used to watch that! However these new bread of cars, I dont really care for. Give me vintage or nastolgic races! My main point was the idea that GM could be in real hot water! If they can not fall under bankrupty protection and rebuild thier company, we loose loose GM. We have lost Pontiac forever now. But Chevrolet and GM and Cadillac would be far greater!! I know they never used to have this restructuring and bankrupty protection back in the day when our economy was a real economy, and poeple and places survived. When someone did not survive, there were at least three others ready to step forward and create something to take over. This new game of econimics that they try to play in my opinion is a bunch of farse!! With all of the money they sent to the banks and to the car manufacturers, if they had returned that money to the poeple, we could have all paid off our houses before forclosure, or bought a new car or went on a shopping spree, raising everyones morals, and supporting these faltering businesses. But that again is not the real answere to the problem! The problem already existed and it was created by the Government as they tax us and govern these coorperations! I will totally agree that the world is changing and its not good! Obama may or may not be helping us in the short run, but every president finds his way to help us out temporarily. Then when the doo doo hits the fan, we turn to butchering them verbaly and wait for the next president to come in and try to fix it. Every time it seams to get worse in the long run!! Now as for Ferarri, it is sad to see them go to the wayside in the F! racing. I think it is a good advertising thing for them!! But we will see! Jody
  18. Nice job for your first try. ery impresive! I can see where you had difficulties with the chop. My recomendations, is to make sure you use a good liquid cememnt first. If you are and you are still having problems, I little wire glued inside the post with a epoxy or super glue can go a long ways from helping to keep it from breaking loose over and over. I know that can be very frustrating!! I should know, LOL. Othwise, I love the color, the way you placed the grill shell. Everything. Beautiful build all in all! Kudos to you. Jody
  19. I am not sure about that? For me it is GM and NASCAR. LOL. But with GM on the brink of break up. Who knows? I may have to stop going to american dealerships and start going to rice patties to find a new car? YIKES!! Jody
  20. I will chime in and add my two cents, wich technically are not worth that much, and some may think even less. I am not a fancy pro at resin casting, but I do a few things and sell some stuff when I get around to it. I have had many poeple happy and one not happy at all. I could never get consistant results from the Alumilite stuff. Sometimes cured too fast, sometimes bubble all up, sometimes perfect, sometimes took forever to cure. Sometimes almost a white, sometimes a tan, sometimes a yellowish. Gregg Fox turned me onto smooth on, and I have not looked back. initially with the molds, I had issues with bubbles. But I learned, that I had the pot opn 45lbs for Alumilites molds, about 30-35lbs works for smooth cast. I usually keep it about 30 because that seems to work the best for the resin as well. Now for the resin, I have learned that adding the blue bottle first, then the yellow bottle seems to work better for some reason. With Alumilite, I always did the baby powder and the microwave thing. I have not yet with smooth cast. Just too lazy since I am now getting better reults being lazy. Perhaps I should try the microwave and baby powder again? But I am happy with my results. Now, if you dont want or cant use the microwave, but want to heat up the molds, you can also use a toaster oven, or hot plate But I honestly found the microwave better. Also with the alumilite, I cooled my resin in the fridge first as this would give me more then 30 seconds to pour the resin. I honestly have not tried that with the smooth cast yet. Like I said, the smooth cast is such a more superior brand that I go with the flow on it! Jody
  21. Last year used to be 3 about a hour away. One is temporarily closed as the mall shut down. Another has just vanished without word? The last one still open I took the kids to and they had a blast running the cars off of the track! LOL. I have bought a Giant raceway and a drag strip in HO for the kids (and I) to run in our family room once it is done! Jody
  22. I dont know if I should dare to admit this or not. But one my first wife and I was running late to our babyt boys doctors appointment. I was getting the diaper bag around and asked her to get the boy in the car. When I got the diaper bag done, I asked her if she had gotten everything. She said yes and we left. I got down the road about 2 miles and realized he was not laughing like usual, turned around and realized she had NOT put him in the car!!. I did a 50 MPH u turn there and went back and got him. I also chewed her a second hole in the rear end!! LOL. Jody
