1/16 Engine Build
Pro Tech replied to Pro Tech's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Thanks Chris for chiming in with the great info. Like Chris said it all boils down to personal preference on gluing etc. so here's the way I glue P/E parts. First, Bart, the nuts/bolts are perfectly flat on both sides so they lay flat on your subject. On gluing any P/E parts this is my process - if the surface is gloss or semi-gloss I use Future (floor coating), I think it's now called Pledge with Future Shine. I use a very small (00000) brush and apply a small dab (smaller than the part size) where you want to apply the part to. Next use the same brush to pick-up the part and lay it down onto the dab of Future you applied. If you need to move the part use a toothpick to move into final position. If you make any mistakes you can use glass cleaner and clean the Future off and start over. If the surface is a flat sheen I will use 5 min. epoxy. Charlie Pro Tech -
1/16 Engine Build
Pro Tech replied to Pro Tech's topic in WIP: All The Rest: Motorcycles, Aviation, Military, Sci-Fi, Figures
Thanks guys, appreciate it. Just a very small update here. I wanted to show how my Nut/Bolt Heads (PTMC 7) can be used in 1/16 scale. These are listed in my 1/25 catalog but are really a multi-scale item. I used the .040 size here and used Future (floor coating) to attach them. Thanks :as always" for looking. If you have any questions, please ask away. Charlie Pro Tech -

These look great, I just received some custom made decals from Chuck for my WIP Jungle Jim F/C and he did a fantastic job on them, I could not be happier. High quality work at it's best. If you need decals I would say check with Chuck first. Charlie Pro Tech

Thanks guys, I got the fuel and oil systems pretty much done. I myself do not install the secondary injector lines from the fuel blocks behind the scoop and blower to the injectors (under scoop and blower manifold) or do any of the throttle linkage. I use to install those years ago but have decided the time involvement to do these vs. the overall impact of the finished model is minimal so I exclude these now. I also think most times the anodized (painted) fittings on a model look a little overwhelming kinda like a fine piece of jewelry so for a number of years now I have been giving them a charcol wash to tone them down just a bit. Also the hole in the side of block (in front of starter) is for the water system. Thanks for looking. Charlie Pro Tecprotechmodelparts.com

Chris, refab work is looking good "again", hey your getting pretty good at this hahaha............... Look forward to more buddy. Charlie Pro Tech -
I would love to see more of this scale released to the market. There is so much more you can do on the detailing end versus the smaller scales. I myself have spent a sizeable amount of funds and time on my new 1/16 - 1/18 scale detailing parts line and was banking on future releases in this scale so I have my fingers crossed. Jay, paint looks great. All downhill now! Charlie Pro Tech -
Brad, looking great man. Hey, another way of attaching the Dzus fasteners (or other P/E items) is to use Future floor coating, works great, stronger than white glue and if you make a mistake a little glass cleaner cleans it off to start again. Charlie Pro Tech

Hey guys, I started this a little while ago. It's a 1/16 scale blown 426 hemi that came from one of the F/E Top Fuel Revell kits. I will be building this for a display engine (to take to shows I vend at) to show off alot of my new 1/16 scale product line. I will be posting as I build different stages using Pro Tech's detail parts. If anyone has any questions on any of the products used in the build please ask away. Till the next step thanks for looking. Charlie Pro Tech 321-960-0532 protech_modelproducts@yahoo.com

Today I Lost My Best Friend!
Pro Tech replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tom, I am sorry for your loss. I have had many pets over the years that me and my wife took in that did not have homes and each time you lose one it's a pain you never want to experience again. I personally thank you for helping an animal that could not help themselves, there are so many out there that need someone to help them as you did, if it wasn't for you he would not have had all the great years that he did. It will take time to get through this tough time but one day you will think back on the memories you two made and they will not hurt as much, even bringing a small smile or chuckle to your face. Edgar, yes the barrel valve is scratchbuilt using .047 Evergreen rod. Thanks for the pic, it's one I have not run across before. Charlie Pro Tech

426 Hemi from Tommy Ivo F/E dragster kit. Detailed with all Pro Tech parts (braid, hex fittings, Cirello magneto kit, bolt heads, etc. etc.). Also scratchbuilt headers and gave the whole assembly a wash to give it a used look. Charlie Pro Tech -

Chris, nice work on the seat! Charlie Pro Tech -
Thanks guys! Mike, yes I mock-up the entire model with all the parts that will be used in the final build. 95% is mocked-up with white glue, some parts can be final glued (super glue, liquid glue etc.) such as the roll cage, frame, engine halves, fuel tank, etc. these parts will also look better painted after assembled. The distributor is a combination of my kit's cap/boot material and the model kit's base (the base also needs to be notched on one side to allow it ti sit to a lower position to allow for the wiring). The boot material on the cap is what come in the kit. Charlie Pro Tech

Thanks guys, got a little more done on this. Engine is almost complete with the following Pro Tech parts - pulley set (belt to go on soon), Distributor Kit, Plug Wires, Alum. Breathers, Mallory Coil (strap made from BMF), and Nut and Bolt Heads to replace the molded in bolt heads (front cover, etc.). Then I (as always) gave the whole assembly a wash of Polly Scale (charcol color) to bring out some shadow effects and give the subject a little used look as most of these very early F/C's were reat work horses. I will post more when I get the fuel sys. plumbed. Thanks for looking! Charlie Pro Tech
