  1. My son, grandaughter and I went to the Cleveland Autorama Friday evening. I never found the model cars until we were leaving at 9:45. There were probably three tables set up to the right of the exit doors in the entrance lobby. I found this strange! We walked up to get a closer look. There were three or four young fellows (looked like teenagers to this 60 year old). We were not welcomed because the show was closing. I would have liked to talk model cars with these young fellows for a short while. But was not given the courtesy. Unless they were waiting to move the model cars into the show area, it seems strange to have them in the lobby! Just my two cents. Aaron Dupont
  2. Check out Yahoo Groups. The used to be an ALPS group. Punch in decals in their group browser. You may find what you need. Testors sells decal paper. They also have the decal coating. Good luck. Aaron Dupont
  3. Don has been sick. He sent out emails stating such. But then I'm sure some folks were missed. He's better now and busting butt to catch up. Hope that helps. Aaron Dupont
  4. Most paints, solvent glues etc are shipped ground. Plus they probably sent it parcel post rate. It's cheaper. So 2 weeks sounds about right. I wonder how quick they shipped it after your order.
  5. Donald: Welcome to 60. I hit that mark in October 2010. Retired November 2010. Keep building! Aaron Dupont
  6. Hi all: I just retired from the Post Office NOV 30. I was a Latter Carrier for 29 years. The Post Office is in the process of change over to "flat sorting machines". Flats are magazines, papers, etc. I saw a larger number of torn up magazines my last few months. Unfortunately, until they get the machines running and adjusted properly, we may all experience an occasional messed up magazine. Most printers print all magazines from a certain publisher. These are usually wrapped in plastic by mail routes. So for example, all the magazines published by the "other" magazine come wrapped in one bundle for my route. They have address stickers etc already in place. I would sort them into my case for delivery. Now, everything has been coming in tubs machine sorted in delivery order. You just make bundles at the back of the truck to deliver. I hope this helps. Aaron Dupont
  7. Zipper, O-rings. Great idea. Mark, I checked out the site for the photo etched wire wheels. They are really nice, but a little too pricey for my retired self. I checked out the tutorial on scratch building them. I had thought about that. Not rocket science the way he does them. May try that way. And your right, motorcycle wheels. The brain was still frozen from out blowing snow at 0500 this morning. Thanks for your replies! They are great! Aaron Dupont
  8. Hi all: Does anybody make dragster front bicycle wire wheels and tires? Photo etched, styrene or what have you? I'm building 3 or 4 60's style front engine dragsters. Thank you in advance! Aaron Dupont
  9. Chris: I model HO scale trains in addition to model cars. If you send me your address, I'll send you a nice assortment of plastic air horns that will work. They are in my parts box. I usually replace plastic with brass horns on my locomotives. My email is: aarondupont@zoominternet.net. I'm in Medina Ohio. So they should arrive in a few days. And you don't have to sort through items at a trainshop. Aaron Dupont
  10. How about AMT 61 Ranchero into a Falcon station wagon or 2dr sedan. Also AMT 64 Comet 2dr to a station wagon.
  11. I think Double D has it right. The first thing I thought when I saw Prius was Pro Mod. Huge slicks, killer motor, wild wheelie bars, plain silver paint. Sponsor could be Haliburton Co. or Sunoco. I'll buy one just for that! Maybe name it "Oxymoron". Aaron Dupont
  12. Hi all: Last night I finally was able to try Jon C's center punch idea. Works great! Only problem, I need to purchase a new center punch. The one I have I believe I purchased in the mid 70's. It's been ground and reground. It's no longer round. Thanks for all the ideas! Aaron Dupont
  13. Most automotive brake line is 3/16" and larger. My automotive flaring tool starts at 3/16" I thought I had it made until I brought it in the workshop. 1/8" is about spot on. Anything larger looks huge to the eye. I'm about to go downstairs to the workshop and try out the center punch method. I'll let you know what happens. Aaron Dupont
  14. Hey everybody: Thanks for all the replies. Don, I checked out that Ferrules Direct site. Good looking "stacks". All different sizes. A large supply that would last me forever. But Jon C, that is the idea I was looking for. Last night, while trying to sleep, I was thinking about an idea like yours. I just haven't been down to the workshop yet today. And again, thank you all for your replys Aaron Dupont
  15. Mark & Mark: Thank you for your ideas. I had thought about machining a block to be used with my automotive flare handle. But the other Mark has a great idea with the lathe. In fact I have a mini lathe that may just do the trick. Thank you again. The idea is so simple! That's what I've found with this forum. The sharing of ideas and techniques!
  16. Andrew: Thanks for your reply. I reread that whole thread. It does not talk about flaring the tips. I am going to use styrene rod to mount the tubes to my manifold. Aaron Dupont
  17. Hi all: I'm making my own fuel injection stacks. I have K&S aluminum tubing in 1/8". I want to flare the tips. My automotive flaring tool goes down to 3/16. I probably could machine a block with a hole just slightly less than 1/8", but I really don't want to go to that much trouble. Any ideas? Also, anybody had any luck flaring plastic tubing? Thanks in advance. Aaron Dupont
  18. I just subscribed! Great music on the three teaser videos. Oh and it was painless. Looking forward to the festivities.
  19. Try Competition Resin. They list a Monza Pro-Stock for Grumpy's Toy. Part # CR5006. The scoop with the body looks different from your picture. But you should be able to modify it. For chassis, modify from Nova funny car. Rat Trap kit I believe it is called. Hope that helps.
