  1. A bean bad passenger seat? Someone trying to off their significant other? But I do remember a friend back in the mid 60's. Had a 57 Chevy. Had car totally apart doing body work. We put a 396 big block in it. Got the car running. He wanted to test drive it, but NO interior. So being the young genius' we were, decided a lawn chair would work for the test ride. Sooooo....he revs the engine, dumps the clutch. 57 Chev takes off hard. Lawn chair folds up with my buddy and heads toward the rear of passenger compartment. Luckly, 57 Chev stalls, rolls to a stop against the curb. Only damage is to buddies ego due to hesterical laughing. And strangely, no alcohol was involved. But the bean bag chair and 15 year old that does not know how to drive, can you say "thinning the heard"?
  2. A 1950 Nash Ambassador is my favorite car ever. I'd buy a few of those. I have one of Galaxy's Chevy kits. I've not built it, but have opened and checked it out. It looks great detail wise. Mine will be a gasser. That is when ever it gets into the building line. The other cars I would like to see would be a 1958 Ford hardtop or 2 door sedan, any 57 Olds and any of the 57 - 59 Chrysler products ( read Desoto). Aaron Dupont
  3. I already got an answer to my email. The order has been put through! See, No flame, NO bad kharma!By the way, the company was Hobby Linc. They handled the problem promptly! Aaron Dupont
  4. I was hoping mine would arrive soon too! But today I got an email that due to the length of time, my back order was canceled. I emailed them stating that I still want it at the pre-production price. It's a big outfit, so I'm sure I'll still get it. More than likely a computer generated cancelation. But now that some of you got yours, I'm really really anxious for mine! Aaron Dupont
  5. Really nice work Geoff! One of those is calling out to me. I can hear it say, "open up my tilt front end. Put in a large V-8 and a cut down 9" rear end..." Well you get the point. Great start for a Modified Sport Production car. Aaron Dupont
  6. I picked mine up at Walmart today. Aaron Dupont
  7. Batzilla, great build! As a disabled Vietnam Veteran based out of Cat Lo, thank you for your service! The demons can be hard to keep at bay. I still struggle from time to time. The idea of your build being a tribute to POW/MIA is very touching! It is very tasteful. As far as sponsors go, my opinion is sponsor badges (stickers) are fine. Place them low near the rocker panels in the stripes. Red/white/blue sponsor stickers would be a plus. I'm looking at some Slixx sponsor stickers right now. I see a peace sign hand held up, red/white/blue. STP, NHRA Nationals, IHRA, Jardine Headers, UDRA, Hardy Race Cars and VP Racing fuels on #NDCS3-7036 set. On set #NDCS1436 are numerous NHRA stickers, Flameout,UDRA, National Dragster, and Valvoline. Hope that helps! Mostly, do what you think is right! I just realized I'm sitting here in camo shorts. It never goes away. I'm looking forward to seeing this model completed! Aaron Dupont
  8. Thanks for bring this up. Lately I've dropped something every evening. Sometimes I find them. Mostly I don't. I tried the apron deal and just ripped it from the bottom of the bench forgetting about it when I stood up. Two nights ago, I lost a shock and mount I just made. So I had to make a new one. I wasted twenty minutes looking for that blasted shock and mount. My floor is concrete with carpet under the bench. I use a flash light shined across the floor to help find lost parts. But now at 60 years old, my eyesite seems to cancel out the benefit of the flash light! So I just continue to feed the "gods of missing parts" and Evergreen and Plastruct. Aaron Dupont
  9. Looking forward to the discs! Always looking for a better way of building things. Sign me up too! Aaron Dupont
  10. Greg: I tend to look at 1 to 1 cars and magazines like Hot Rod, Car Craft, Ol Skool Rods, etc. I will pull parts from any number of kits to "bash" something. I'll gather most of the parts for a build, place them in the box for the build. I also print off pictures of the car I'm going to build and put that in the box. Sometimes I'll see an idea for a build of a car style or part of that car I want to duplicate. So I'll print those off for reference and put them in this box. I also have a good collection of extra parts, aftermarket parts and resin parts. I'll purchase something just because I would like to use it in a future build. I hope that helps. Aaron Dupont
  11. Brett: Great looking start! I love the concept. Nostalgia Funny Cars and Gassers are big on list now. I'm going ro a Supercharged Gasser event this weekend at Dragway 42 in West Salem, Ohio. There's also a big nostalgia meet with rails, funnys and gassers in La Rue, Ohio this weekend. They usually have about 16 funnys. Would rather go to La Rue, but Dragway 42 is just down the road from the house. Keep up the great work Brett! Aaron Dupont
  12. I tried our Walmart in Medina, Ohio. No luck. They barely have anything other than Hot Wheels. I'll have to try some other Walmart's. That Stude looks like a "gotta have". Aaron Dupont
  13. A Citroen gasser has been in the back if my head. Call it "Lemonade". That sounds like a plan. I'm in for one. Aaron Dupont
  14. Thoughts and prayers for your wife's surgery! Thoughts and prayers for you too! Aaron Dupont
  15. Welcome from Medina, Ohio. Lots of info on this forum. Lots of great people. Ask if you have a question or problem. You'll get answers. Aaron Dupont
  16. Terry; LOL. NO I've not lived with him. I guess I should pay attention to spell check! He and I would probably kill each other. Thanks for the laugh at my expense! I'm sitting grinning like a fool! Aaron Dupont
  17. Okay, my turn. I've dwelt with Don on a number of occasions. I received one of his phone calls. He can come off harsh. But through that hour and a half phone call, we've become friends. I have a large order in with him currently. I realize it will take some time to fill due to the size of it. Would I like to have it quicker? Of course. Will my world stop turning if it does not come soon? No. My point is that resin casting is a hand process. It's not like injection molding plastic. Turn on the machine and let it run. I know because I do steel mill model railroad cars with State Tool & Die. But mainly, I find Reliable Resin's products to be superior to others. An email to him could probably answer casting and delivery times. But also remember, more time spent on the computer and phone is less casting and shipping time. Also remember when dealing with resin casting, Things are run in batches or as ordered. Not a lot to shelf stock on hand. Just my two cents. Aaron Dupont
  18. Hi all: I too have had shrinkage problems with squadron. In fact I bought a new tube about six months ago, it still shrinks. I've tried using spot putty. It too has some shrinkage. It is best applied over primer. Seems to work better that way. It is designed for automotive use as a finishing or "glazing" putty. Lately I've been using Bondo two part filler. It's working great. Dries fast. Sands and feathers well. It's cheap at Walmart or other box stores. I've seen over the years folks recomending two part resin putty. It's available at auto part stores. But at $24. I felt it was too pricey to try. Hope that helps! Aaron Dupont
  19. I have found it too hard to control. It comes out thick. I had to strip it off the body I was working on. I will decant it into a jar, thin it, and airbrush it next time. Some fellows seem to have had good luck heating the can in warm water prior to spraying. Please do not heat it on a stove or with boiling water. I'm sure others have good recommendations. Aaron Dupont
  20. I'd like to see a 50's Volvo. The one that looks like a 40 Ford sedan. That would make a great gasser. Or even a Promod. Aaron Dupont
  21. Another two cents worth. My father passed the building gene to me. He built wood airplanes and then the new fangled plastic kits. I remember him completing a WWII bomber right before I went to bed. In the morning I heard him cussing and stomping. He had set the airplane on top of a table lamp to dry. My mother used to stay up late reading. Well that night she turned on the top 200 watt bulb. It curled the wings of that airplane. It was a site to see! I learned something that night. Don't leave models out where my mother reads. LOL My father bought me my first ANT model car in 1958. A 58 Ford. I don't remember much about it. But I used most every part and decal in the kit. He also passed model railroading to me. I've been hooked on model cars and model railroading ever since! My father was a gifted Dental Technican. He spent more time building dentures crowns etc. But he passed that building gene to me. I'm better for it. No mater how frustrating a build can be at times, I still have fun. If it becomes a struggle, I go to another project. When I return with fresh eyes, the build is better for it. Plus, I've probably learned something. Continue doing videos Dr. I can tell you love sharing by your voice! I love that you show us "A" way to do things. Not "THE" way. We all have our own techniques that we are comfortable with. We all have our opinions too. Ours is not to always agree, but we should respect. Thanks for allowing me a place to relive a great memory of my father. And to Share my opinion with you all. Even though I've never met any of you all, I consider you all my friends. Thank-you, Aaron Dupont
  22. Try Reliable Resin. I did not see items listed on Don's new site. But send him an email and he can fix you up. Good quality parts. I've been using his Gasser/AFX rear suspension. I'm awaiting some of his big boy springs. On Speed City's site, he has a tutorial on building a tube front axle. I've scratch built my own leaf springs, front and rear. It's not rocket science. But many years ago I learned, if you can buy it, don't waste your time building it. Unless you enjoy building items. It really depends on my mood. Reliable Resin's "Big Boy Springs" have a nice high arch for that real gasser look. Aaron Dupont
  23. Hi all. Here's my two cents worth. Please stop the "urinating contest"! ( I said urinating, yeh, yeh...yeh, yeh. ) Like has been said, if your not into the hype, go to a different thread. This hobby and others I'm involved in need more Dr. Cranky's. If a number of folks that are not model builders per chance on his videos and think this all looks like fun, then maybe there will be a few more model builders. That can't hurt. At any rate, I love Dr. Cranky's videos. They make me laugh. I also learn new techniques and see builds that I know I'll never do, but appreciate the craftsmanship! This 60 1/2 year old kid just wants to have fun! We all need to lighten up and smell the styrene! Aaron Dupont
  24. Excellent movie! When the music started, I thought I was watching a movie in Boy's Health Class in the early sixties. I used to watch Otie's Automotive at Dragway 42 all the time. Ah, the good old days! And "in living color" no less. How is the leg and blood clot doing? Better I hope! You're in my prayers. Aaron Dupont
  25. Hi all: I had not heard of this day. As a Vietnam veteran, THANK-YOU! And THANK-YOU to all who have served and are currently serving our great nation!!! Aaron Dupont
