I believe im leaning towards this color combo

Yeah Jim these car things go together quick!! Honestly i enjoy building everything but if youve ever built an old AMT truck kit you know nothing fits and everything needs to be modified and fixed. These new revell kits go together good.

This build was inspired by a car Drew Hierwarter built and was featured i. The dec. 2009 issue of Model Cars Magazine. I started with the Revell 5 window coupe. I am using the engine , wheels and tires fro Revells 49 Merc coupe. The rear end came from Revells 37. So far i have channeled the body Shortened the frame and removed the tank. Put i the 37 crossmember and drilled out the axles to take the pins from the merc. 4

To all you real car enthusiasts.
Mach1revo replied to BluePopsicle's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
NPD or National parts depot is carring some NOS stuff. They have a full fox body catalog. www.npdlink.com Also check Late Model Restoration @ www.50resto.com www.Cjponyparts.com www.mustangsunlimited.com I have a 92 lx hatch 5.0 and used to have a 04 Mach 1. I have ordered parts from all of them at one time or another. -
Awesome start. I'll be following this one.

Thank you, i appreciate all the feedback.

Started as a AMT stake bed truck. Added dump box from the Ford snowplow kit. Scratchbuilt lift cylinder. Still need to do the mirrors and a small gravel load in the box. Paint is Testors laquer grabber orange. Clearcoated on cab only. Thanks for looking.

Just finished this up tonight. Revells 49 Merc kit. Paint is Duplicolor perfect match Stellar blue and Artic white straight from the can. Cleared and polished. BMF trim. Scratchbuilt roll pan under front bumper. Absolutely loved this kit. Thanks for looking. All comments welcome. T

Almost done. I removed the molded in battery for a smoother underhood. I also replaced the molded cable on the drivers side with a piece of wire and BMF clamps. Also did BMF clamps on the radiator hose. I made grab handle for the seat backs out of half round styrene flattened on each end. Thanks for looking. All comments welcome.

Nice work fatkidd. Seeing yours at the club meeting inspired me to do start one. Check it out in the WIP section. These kits go together so good i already have ideas for another.

Good question. I stripped the chrome because i didnt like the kit chrome and found it easier to sub assemble the suspension the repaint as a whole. I just did a quick google search and it seems that some look chromed and some look brushed. The color i used is called matte aluminum. I also used in for the deck of the trailer so its pretty shiny if you ask me. I find it represents polished aluminum pretty well. This was done by spray can as i didnt have a airbrush yet. Funny thing is i do now and still tend to spray bomb.

White Freightliner daycab
Mach1revo replied to Mach1revo's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The rivet sheet says micromark on it. They work great. -
Here is my Revell Midget racer I built last year. It was built box stock except for i added plug wires and gauge wires. This is a great kit and had alot of fun building it. The color is Duplicolor Perfect match intense blue pearl cleared with their clear. I did strip all the kit chrome and resprayed with krylon matte aluminum. I see i forgot the trailer hubcaps......lol

I am building a replica of a Carolina freight truck. I took the current issue White Frieghtliner and took about 3/4 of an inch out of the cab and frame. I removed all the rivets off the roof and around the side seams. I am replacing them with. The micromark O-scale decal rivets. I have finished the roof and am still working on the sides. The spokes are from the Diamond Reo kit. The first photo is the real truck...

The nose does look awkward in the pics compared to in person. I have narrowed the front of the frame to tuck in behind the grill shell now and i think i want to maybe mold the headlights into the side of the hood
-
Yes , the interior will be white with the blue inserts on the doors, seats and dash.

This is a long term project that i pull out when i get board. Its the Revell 32 sedan thats been chopped (my first top chop) and channeled and the grille shroud has been sectioned and pie cut. The frame has been z'd up front. The grille and hood are now one piece and will hinge upward like a normal cars. I am unsure where to go with it from here as it was going to be a rat rod but now i think it needs some exotic drivetrain and IFS suspension. Any suggestions or comments welcome.

Here are some pics of my Revell 49 Merc. I removed the drip rails and added some trim with some .060 half round. I also made a front roll pan. The paint is duplicolor perfect match stellar blue pearl and artic white covered with duplicolor clear all from the spray can. I have wired the engine and given it a black wash. I may do fuel lines and throttle linkage.

When buying a new car.....
Mach1revo replied to uncle potts's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Marauder is a cool car. While i have never driven one my 04 MACH 1 had the same 4 valve 4.6 motor. My mach may one be considered collectable like the originals but unfortunatly mine met its demise by way of a red light runner. T-boned and totaled with only 22,000 miles on it many of them a 1/4 at a time( ran 12.70 109.80 bolt ons and drag radials) . Great car and i hope to buy another. In the meantime i have a 92 fox body lx hatch 5.0. Modern classics in there own right! -
Model Car Shopping List
Mach1revo replied to Swifster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Swiftster it sounds like your from lakeland Fl from your description of hobbytown. I am in Orlando(Windermere). phils is ok but a little high priced. Google Ralphs hobbies he is right down the street from phils and has a lot of out of production cars. I agree there isn't much in florida. Me and my brother build and collect heavy commercial and trying to find OOP kits of those is like pulling teeth. Pm me I would like to here from another local builder -
This was my 1st Ipms show and only my second show ever and me and my brother had a blast. I am blown away by how may amazing builds were there. The vendors were great and the show ran like clockwork. Great job guys. It was great to see the heavy commercial class be so strong. Trucks are making a comeback and manufacturers like round2 and moebius are noticing. I also took home my first award ( 1st in heavy commercial ) with my paystar logging truck and was completely surprised! I look forward to some more events and the nationals coming up seeing as they are in my backyard in Disney. Again great job by all who entered and had part in this show. Jay Grenot
