  1. Thanks for all the compliments guys!!! I had a blast building it and am glad you are enjoying it!!
  2. Nope no typo...LOL
  3. Thanks guys!!! Monty im not sure where that color name came from. I know its used in the interior of Tamiyas JGSDF light armored vehicle which is why i originally bought it. When i got the Hudson kit the paint was still on my workbench and i just had to use it.
  4. Since i didnt do a work in progress post here are a few more pics. I added throttle linkages and return springs, fuel lines , heater line , plug wires, masking tape belt , battery cables, and brake lines at the wheels. I also added valve stems to the wheels.
  5. Moebius Hudson Hornet. Just about done. Just needs final cleaning and radio antenna installed. Had to make a new one. Paint is Tamiya xf-21 Sky and xf-2 white. Dupont clear. Interior is Testors enamel flat green and Tamiya xf-2 white. All the chrome is Alclad and trim is BMF.
  6. Harry makes a good point...the IPMS guys are pretty serious but also they can be a good source of honest feedback. If you can talk to the judges after the show and ask them what you could do to improve. Ive never heard anyones models being bashed but they will point out flaws you probably didnt know where even there. Dont take anything personal. Try and talk to the guys who are taking home the trophys, almost all are very approachable and will offer feedback and tips if asked for a honest opinion. I personally enjoy both the IPMS judged shows and the NNL style "hangouts" but i lean toward IPMS because of a competetive nature. Have fun but dont get to caught up with winning or even placing it will come if you dedicate yourself.
  7. Hey Darren , welcome!! Nice to see another Florida based truck modeler. Im in Orlando. If your on Facebook please let me know in a P.M.
  8. Great show!!!! Me amd my brothers first time there and we were very impressed!! Definately a must attend event for us now. Thanks to fatkidd and his buddy John for letting me use some vending space. Look forward to the next event. We are planning builds as we ride home (6.5 hrs) !!!

Very nice Marcos, i am actually building this same kit in that same color combo! Im adding SMS carbon fiber decals to hood, roof and trunk and a few other details. This isnt cleared yet and i used Createx Wicked Colors pearl white
  10. Thanks for all the compliments!! Harry i will be adding logos. I need to do the tag along trailer with a John Deere 310 combo on it still. The dump box will also have a load of gravel in it and i will weather all three together. Just havent started the other parts yet. Thats why the lift axle is in the down position in preparation for the rest of the build.
  11. The box behind the batteries is a wet tank for hydraulic fluid. The pump is actually just on the other side of the frame rail driven by a PTO.
  12. Tom, thats an easy one! The exhaust manifold are painted with a two part system called sophisticated finishes antiquing solutions. Its available at Michaels cradft stores. The first part is a iron colored paint that has real iron dust in it. The second part is a chemical solution you brush on in multiple coats that rusts the paint. I follow that with a black wash and a silver drybrush to hit the highlights.
  13. Alain, there are plenty of trucks here in florida running front floats similar to what i am depicting here. However , I am not a truck expert and simply made use of what i had on hand that fit the wheels i wanted to use. Heres a pic of aother transtarwoth floats up front that i think look even bigger than what im showing. . Thanks for all the compliments!
  14. Here are some more W.I.P shots of the engine and chassis.
  15. No problem! I hope i am able to help you. If you want to build the best models you can and continue to improve my advice is to ask for honest feedback or criticism. Be prepared to take the good with the bad. There are many experienced modelers here and many will help you but you need to be able to handle being told what is wrong with something you have built. I always ask for comments and feedback whenever i post a build. Someone may point out something i missed or did wrong. I try to build as nice a model as i can and improve and learn with each one. Thanks Oh and you mentioned something about the seats and how you were painting them. Here are the ones for the interior i posted before. These were preshaded in the creases then airbrushed with Tamiya acrylics then drybrushed wirh a lightend version of the base color
  16. I moved on from Testors enamels. I use alot of the Tamiya acrylics and the Testors acrylics. If i do use testors enamels i thin them with laquer thinner and airbrush them too. I really only brush paint very small details or areas.
  17. Tom what brand and type of paints are you using?
  18. Here is the engine. I added fuel lines and airlines. Also did underhood insulation. Some W.I.P interior shots Please feel free to leave comments or criticism. Thanks!!
  19. Here is my IH 4300 dump truck i just finished. Paint is Tamiya Italian red with dupont clear. I scratchbuilt the lift axle and plummbed the motor, airlines for the brakes and hydraulic lines. Italeri floats up front. Italeri standard tires on the back and amt/ertl tires on resin two holes for the lift axle. Here i sprayed the box with Alclad steel then weathered with oil paints thinned with turpeniod
  20. While not in a truck here is a dash i did in a 55 Chrysler 300.
  21. The interior panels chrome trim was done with Bare Metal Foil. Its all the same color just different brands of clear coats to vary the sheen and color shade.
  22. Your really not that far off. I dont know what color the rest of your interior is but i spray the majority color first. In this case it was black. I then masked it and sprayes the brown on the right hand side. Then i brush painted a wood color around the gauge cluster area. Use thin coats with thinned paint to minimize buildup. I then drybrush woodgrain colors. I then coat with Tamiya clear orange which gives it a polyurethaned wood look. I avoid the gauges which are still black from the first spray. I then hit the gauge rings with a silver sharpie and a steady hand. The inner gauges were drybrushed with silver paint. Thats how i did this particular dash. There are many other methods and techniques others use. Hope that all makes sense! Its not hard just tedious. Just look at pictures of the real thing and duplicate what you see. The key is keep your paint light as to not obscure details and make sure the sheens are accurate! All glossy usually looks toy like. Vary sheens to somulate the different materials used on the real thing.
  23. Looks good! Heres one i in a truck i just finished. IH Transtar 4300. Here is the some of the interior.
  24. Sorry Joshua not much in the Kissimmee area. Orlando has Colonial Photo and Hobby in downtown and a way overpriced Hobbytown in Sanford. There are a few others but the plastic selection is pretty limited. Mostly R/C planes and cars. Tampa has quite a few shops in the area. Look up House of Hobbies just outside Tampa. He has a pretty big selection of old kits. Can be pricey on some. Ralphs hobbies is a small shop south of tampa. He also has a lot of discontinued stuff and most new releases. Good prices too. And Phils hobbies is right by Ralphs. Worth stopping by if your in the area. Cocoa doesnt have any anymore that im aware of. Nearest would be a Hobbytown Usa in west Melbourne and Ernies hobbies in Melbourne. Ernies is a hole in the wall but he can have some good find as he buys collections every now and then but its a BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH shoot. Good luck and have fun!!
  25. Me and my brother will be there as well. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys. Except you Adam!!! LOL!!!
