  1. NIce joB Jim, looking forward to more pics. The wheels, are those the ones that Daniel sells in the package deal ?? Daniels resin is top notch and have only seen the Mack wheels on ebay and they sure did look good and they do look good on your build !! Keep the pics acoming. Rick
  2. Anybody know if any of the kits out there have a 6-71 Detroit under the hood or is there a resin casting out there somewhere ?? Rick
  3. Okay guys, so here's something a little diiferent, sort of the unsung hero trucks of the trucking industry !! You have to admit, theres some classic material here and really with this type of rig whether new or vintage the world is a much cleaner place. http://www.classicrefusetrucks.com/albums/PM/PM03.html Rick
  4. Okay guys, have a question. I want to make my own stacks/mufflers, but cannot come with any ideas for heat quards, was thinking maybe larger evergreen tubing slicked and then drilling lots of holes, but I am sure someone has a better idea out there. Any ideas ?? Thanks Rick
  5. I have a real liking for the old rigs and stumbled across this one a while back. Brings the old and new together given how she was put together !! Take a look. http://find-great-cars.ebizautos.com/detail-1956-ford-f800-big_job-used-1957441.html Rick
  6. I havent had much to do with resin cast trucks only cars, theres some nice looking items out there from what I have seen. Couple items tweaked my interest. My modelling budget is modest to say the least and it doesnt allow for purchasing items that may not be up to par. How would you guys rate the products from; 1) RMR 2) AITM 3) Modelhaus Any info would be appreciate. If there are any other sites that you can think of that might be of interest let me know. Thanks Rick
  7. Ok guys thought some of you might find this interesting and a little fun at the same time. Go to http://tv4u.com/index.cfm Under the category, go to Action, then under show go: Cannonball - an old Canadian show about two drivers piloting an old GMC Cannonball around the country After you watch that classic go to: Moving On - three episodes including the first where Will met up with Sonny Next change the category to High speed and then change the show to truck racing and see some Classic big rig racing at Atlanta Lots of other Classics there as well, something to do for a little fun. Rick
  8. Now this is gonna be a nice one !! Waiting for more pics !! Keep them coming !! Rick
  9. Awesome build, real nice job on the trailer !!! Rick
  10. My hats off to these guys for repopping these old kits. Lindberg for bringing the Dodge COE and trailers back and Round 2 for the AMTs. Ebay prices were just nuts but its the old rule of supply and demand !! What has surpised me is the quality of these reissues given the old molds. Obvious some good cleaning up was done to get the good quality that we are seeing. I think the biggest issue today is getting younger people back into model building.I would think that a survey of builders would show not too many young people building. Too much high tech stuff to occupy their time. On another forum I am on relative to oval track, non Nascar racing we polled at around average 55 years old. I remember as a kid when these AMT truck kits were hitting the shelves and the selection was big !! But then we all built models as a hobby there wasnt all the computer games and Ipods and techno stuff to occupy our time. We had to use imagination !! I think as long as the demand is there for these companies they will continue to repop, I hope. And I have to give all those resin casters with their cottage industry a big pat on the back for being there and also filling the void. It would be nice to have a complete listing of all those guys out there casting trucks and parts. Anyway guys if we keep building and keep buying I am sure production will be there !! Rick
  11. Okay guys need some techicial help here. I am starting on my build which is going to be a C Ford COE into a tandem axle tractor. The question I have is related to the number of air tanks that would be required to support this kind of setup.I have a lot of pics but none of a tandem so not sure what should be added to the chassis. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Rick
  12. Sean, Thats looking really nice, looking forward to seeing more pics as the work progresses !! Rick
  13. Grant, Almost as good as winning the lottery !! Nice find, looking forward to updates on this one !! Rick
  14. Wouldnt this make a nice sddition to the daily driver pool !!! http://s552.photobucket.com/albums/jj332/bhmotomach/ I would have to think a tandem 56 Chev was somewhat rare ?? Sure is a nice restoration !!! Possible build op here using the Chevy picup and extending the fenders, drop a nice Detroit under the hood with double straight pipes. Rick

  16. Anyone ever seen one of these old brutes in resin. I remember seeingsomething on a forum sometime ago where a fella was using the 66 Chevy P/U cab and building one. Major scratchbuilding effort. Interesting build with one of those V12 under the hood. http://ccbryson.com/sterling/images/photos/large/feb2010/DSCN1200.JPG http://sites.google.com/site/lesmcc31/oldgmc-large-rot-90.jpg http://dodge-semis.com/PG/GMC_Trucks/1962_GMC_B7000_01.jpg http://67-72chevytrucks.com/gallery/data/500/1963-B-7000-b.jpg Rick
  17. Thanks guys appreciate all the feedback, going to give her a try this weekend. Rick
  18. Okay guys need your input. Whats the best way to dechrome parts, I have always heard normal house bleach will do the trick. Is that the best or is there something that's better. I have got some wheels and wheel rings I want to clean up. Just getting back into building and before I go and buy anything new I want to work with some of the old stuff I have laying around, so the first kick at the can is going to be rebuild a c600 into a tandem tractor with parts from the parts box so I really need to dechrome the c600 wheels and some other parts. Appreciate any input !! Thanks Rick
  19. Nick, I believe the fella is up London way, I would love to see this one in 1:1, great frabicating skills no doubt about that. Rick
