Ford C1000 ? or Ford H series ?
cdnmodman replied to cdnmodman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Chuck for the econoline pic, looking at it and the l700, looks like a close match from body style, might be some opportunites with some scratchbuilding to come up with a reasonable look copy ?? Thanks again Rick -
Ford C1000 ? or Ford H series ?
cdnmodman replied to cdnmodman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Chuck, A question, I remember reading something some time ago where Ford had actually protyped a tractor using the Econline van cab. Apparently when Dodge came up with the l700 cab looked very silimiliar to the Ford prototype, is there any reference in the book you have of that cab. Was thinking that be another great build op. Thanks Rick -

Little more searching last night provided this article where the 1959 model was mentioned. http://www.hemmings.com/hmn/stories/2008/11/01/hmn_feature11.html and this pic: http://www.hankstruckpictures.com/pix/trucks/morton/2004/cd01/pie_ford_coe.jpg Rick -

Body Filler/putty?
cdnmodman replied to skulls's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Bondo UV activated Glazing and Spot putty is awesome to work with, full proof no mixing straight from the tube cures in the sun very quick !! Great thing is make up of the product is about 25-30 % styrene so it works really well with kit plastic and resin.Sands really nice and takes primer and paint really well. Old kit list

Awesome site !!! The number of those kits that I had has a teenager and what ever happened to them all not sure. The Louisville race car hauler is one I wish was back in production as Ebay prices on these are crazy. Really nice to see all the great box art from over the years. Thanks for posting !! Rick -
Wheels and Tire question
cdnmodman posted a topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I would like to do a single axle 1946 Chevrolet tractor using the 41 Revell pickup cab. I know that when Dencon was in business they produced a tire and wheel set that looked about right. I remember reading that they might have been the wheels and tires out of one of the Opel Blitz kits. With Dencon no longer available the price for an Opel kit on ebay is pretty steep just for wheels. Anyone have an idea what might be available out there or might be a good option to use for this build. This is kind of the idea I had for the build: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/2375590110100720268orGqxA Thanks Rick -

Tim, I have a question regarding these old brutes. The main boom had a smaller boom inside. The lower cable supplied cable for the pull/pickup. the upper reel I am assuming was used to lift the boom for repositioning. My question is how was the inner boom actually extended, was it cable activated ?? Any ideas Thanks Rick

Plaskit (Daniel Gallioux) offers a real nice set of 16.5 for a 1 ton. The castings are real nice 6 tires 2 front wheels and 2 ,2 piece real dually wheels. I used them on a few race car haulers I built and they real work nice. Rick http://images36.fotki.com/v1156/photos/1/1306191/5990308/IM001924-vi.jpg
