Thanks Neal, I dreamed of having a car like this from the time I was 12 years old. You are right, yours was very simular. When mine became available from a buddy for $300 I couldn"t resist. He was buying a '66 Nova with the 350 HP . I went with him to order it and pick it up when it came in to the dealer. That's the one I wish I had. The '55 was red when I got it with a new/rebuilt '62 283. I spent the summer prepping it for paint and had a buddy's older brother paint it for $50. The paint was $10. I had worked on this car since I was 14 helping my buddy swap 7 different engines in it. He was tough on them. I learned to drive in it when I was 14 on a country road. Other mods I made were a Grant custom steering wheel, $15, a Fenton 3-speed shifter, a Dixco tac mounted on the dash, cheater slicks, scavenger pipes and of course loseing the front bumper and grill. A 2 barrel carb was retained to save gas, I was in High School. I thought it had the look but, in reality it was a real dog. This was the most fun I've ever had on a model and I would challenge others to build their first car.
