1934 Ford Texaco Shop Truck
rmvw guy replied to Duntov's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Isn't it funny how these simple quick builds turn out to be favorite builds? Why do we stress out so much over detail sometimes? I love the look and it would look good anywhere. Success!!! Also one of my favorite all time kits to build. -
This still remains as one of my favorite garage scenes. I remember this one when you first posted your '32 in it. It takes me back to my youth when having an insulated garage didn't matter and all the 2X4s were left exposed. ( I didn't know any better!) This would have been my dream garage.

66 El Camino Plane Jane
rmvw guy replied to Porscheman's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Nice clean looking model. I like the Plain Janes sometimes also. -
You captured the look of the late '50s early '60s for me and I love everything about it. Lot's of ideas from this one. I love the pin-striping and the way you carried it out underneath. Nice job throughout!

Nothing like a '57 Bel Air in black with whitewalls. I love the opening trunk on this one. You are the master at BMF. The plate should read, BMF KING or is that too many letters? How about MR BMF? Nice job Richard.

Family interest in models?
rmvw guy replied to johnbuzzed's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My 6 year old Granddaughter with her first air brush job. This is her fifth model car already. Painted with Testors water based acrylic. Can you tell she is proud? Next it's on to welding. -
Nice pictures, I love this build. I had a '65 Chevelle SS when I was 16 years old in 1966 I bought with paper route money I saved starting at 12 years old. Too much car for a 16 year old probably.

Show me yer Monogram '55 Chevy Badman Derivatives
rmvw guy replied to Greg Myers's topic in Model Cars
I love the flip-nose Neil and the alternative Roger. Also love the three originals from you Gregory. This is mine, not finished yet but, this one is going to become MADMAN. I could not build the kit version, tried twice with my kids. -
It looks righteous, nice job. I don't know how else you would want to build this one.

I built one of these up years ago stock and still have it. I would post a picture but, it just looks like the one on the box. I painted it red because of the red plastic. I think it went together without a problem the only thing I would change is to add more detail to the engine compartment. I wish it was 1/25 scale instead of 1/24. My AMT '57s look small next to it. I now have a 1/25 scale AMT '56 T Bird and am wondering how it will compare, still waiting to be built.

That is probably the nicest Chevelle I have ever seen. Beautiful work and I love the diorama. Nice story too, I think I might have got a little tear in my eye.

First Spring snow this year. What??? Okay maybe not as bad as you think. Wife just left for work, couldn't resist taking a picture of the fresh snow under the garage door.Out the back door it's still snowing.Out the front door. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Who first said that? -
Worst Ouch, Building a Model?
rmvw guy replied to Skip's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Probably my worst hurt was when I was a kid and before I learned what a hobby knife was, I used double edge razor blades I snuck out of the medicine cabinet. I remember trying to cut the doors out on an old AMT '32 Ford 5-window. I never told my Mom, I cut my hand wide open and probably should have had stitches but, some how kept it hidden until it healed. -
41 HOTROD HALLER,

Blair, Keep 'em coming, You are blowing me away with your builds. Nice work on this one. -
Welcome back Gluhead, good to hear they let you out and good luck with the rest of your recovery. I know Nurses can be pretty, I am married to one. As far as the smoking, I gave it up 31 years ago, funny how you will always remember how long. That was the hardest thing I've ever done, it was right after my son was born. When my Mom was in the hospital in your condition, they put her in a room with someone on oxygen and told her that would be her the next time if she didn't give up smoking. It worked. Good luck and God bless.

Mongoose '57, ("Formerly What's Hiding in all those Boxes?)
rmvw guy replied to rmvw guy's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks guys, guess I got lucky the panel was relatively flat this time. As the glue continues to dry, I notice it is kind of squishing between the seams filling them. I don't think it will require a lot of putty. I have been putting this project off over 3 years after first opening the box. -

I don't know why I thought this was such a big deal, just a little extra work that's all. Here's my work so far, I think the photos tell the story. Need some drying time then putty and sanding will be after that. -
How about a 1/12 scale garage? Nice model Douglas, I have room for it, send it to me! I'm always amazed at the detail on the larger scale '57.

Mongoose '57, ("Formerly What's Hiding in all those Boxes?)
rmvw guy replied to rmvw guy's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks guys, I want to try out my abilities on this one. I did write to Revell and received no reply. I have had good service from them otherwise and figure they just got a good laugh out of it, then, "What are we suppose to do? We don't even make that kit any more." Thanks for your tips and offerings. I was thinking of using the Ghost Busters Cadillac body but, looks like too much trouble. Watch as I make my best effort. If I ruin it I can always use the parts for something I guess. I remember when I use to open every model in the parking lot before I became a collector at some point. (Not any more!) Now I just want to open them all! -
With a large number of models in your collection, did you ever wonder what is hiding in all those sealed boxes? You might get a surprise like I did. With the kit no longer in production by Revell what can I do? Thought of saving it for the next production run, which may never happen, and I can't seem to find a donor body so, I think I will try to make a repair. It would never be a collector piece anyway.

Hey Jim, I will take you up on that lunch. What is funny, that is the same thing I always order from Taco Bell. I found out recently they will give you a Senior drink cup for free.
-
Next time I will buy lunch! I was told they have purchased some land across the interstate to build some more museum. All the old drag racers want their cars in his museum before they die I guess. It is really crowed in the drag race museum now.
