  1. Yes! That cab is looking sweet!
  2. Mike, you might want to get yourself some Bare metal foil. This material is actually a really thin real metal sheet similar to the wrapping found on candy bars. Except that it is coated on one side with glue. All you do with this is remove it from it's backing paper and apply it to the surface to cover. Then you take a hobby knife with a new blade (really needed here) to cut the contours, then burnish the foil on the surfaces covered with a Q-tip swab or something soft and smooth to mke the foil stick to the contours correctly and you have chrome on your moldings, door lock and handles, whatever. You need black on the windshield moldings, so, either you mask the area to paint with any bare metal foil or you buy the black chrome and apply it directly on those surfaces. You can buy these foils directly on the Bare-Metal Internet site.
  3. Seems to work now! I just clicked on the picture you have in your original post and it pops up to a bigger much clearer picture. That's the way!
  4. James, just reduce your pictures by half using the old "paint" program you have on your computer first. It dramatically reduces the file size, retain a lot of definition and you'll be able to post them directly here. Your 377 seems nice! Don't let us out in the cold without telling or showing how this is going to turn out, alright! Keep at it and for the pictures, try "Paint". once in that program, in the menu at the top of the screen use "image" then under that menu, "stretch" and in the pop-up box, in the stretch section you will see two rectangles with 100%. Change these numbers to 50% (scale down equally in the vertical and horizontal box). Try 50% for both from the full size picture at first and smaller if it's reasonable. Then save the new size picture under another name, just in case. Then you can upload to this site by using "reply to this topic" And click on the "use Full editor" box. There is an "Attach Files" box at the bottom of the text box (where you write your text), upload your pictures with Attach files, picture by picture with that feature. I am just trying to make it as easy as I can, trying not to overlook anything, I know I'm not talking to babies here, ok! LOL! It works for me! and I think we are here to help each other, aren't we?
  5. That has got to be the "Can do" wrecker with a daycab from "Cargostar"... Great combo this is going to be!
  6. These are high quality parts man! No kidding, this is Great Stuff... I'm still hoping for a late W900L cab to go with the hood you already have... NEED! But I have to say I am very impressed at the parts you guys are putting out. You understand that modelers appreciate a precise, nicely molded part and it shows on these pictures. The others can always be worked on...
  7. I thought you had something to do with this, Tim! CNG truck...
  8. Oooooooooh YEAH! That's what I'm talkin' about, Good job! It looks pretty darn smooth in this view, man that is good quality stuff! So it's off I go to P & P now...
  9. Darcy, I believe the Kenworth T900 you're talking about is actually a Revell of Germany and is a 1:25 scale model. I might be mistaking but... I don't recall Italeri producing a Kenworth...yet. So anyway as modeltruckmafia has shown his 1:24 scale Freightliner fits pretty nicely with that Revell car transport. That trailer is a very nice kit by the way, I built one some years back. I had cars in 1:25 and 1:24 th scale on it and looked pretty good. If you find one, jump on it, it's the best one yet, honestly.
  10. Gordon, what can I say? This thing is a gutless wonder! Really, it is. These Volvo kits were originally made by Italeri and then shared with Revell. But they were conceived as "curbside" models, without any engine or transmission. That is the main thing that disapointed me, still does. But, since there is so many real ones rolling around on the road and is one of the rare modern trucks being reproduced, I decided to build one anyway and ended up with a not too bad looking replica. It would be nice if somebody would reissue this kit with all the mechanicals just like all the other kits. I do promise the next truck I build WILL have an engine and transmission! It's either that Peterbilt 359 with an 8V92 or Freightliner FLD or Kenworth W900 with a 12V71... Hmmmm, Aero or Classic? Thanks for the compliments!
  11. Ok, I'm getting the hang of it... Next time it'll be better, sorry for the mess...
  12. Hey, I added some details to finish up this Volvo. In front, the fog-driving lights in the bumper, the revell VN670 didn't have them, unlike the VN 780, so I cut the bumper, scratch built the lights with transparent tree material for the lenses, some evergreen flat .040 stock and some flat transparent .060 Plastruct. I added the aerials on the mirrors, again with Plastruct .020 polystyrene wire with K&S 1/16 tube for the base. In the back of the cab, it was a desolated desert so I added some electricals for the trailer along with the hangers. All scratch built from K&S aluminum rod with Plastruct .010 thick stock for the bolt flanges. Some 1/16 tube for the "slide bar" with steel wire to hold the trailer wires and hose. The GPS aerial was made of a trailer landing wheel and glue accumulated at the top to make the dome shape. Some Plastruct channel for the support and .010 thick stock for the support sides. Two cargo hold stoppers were added with the rack and support. These were made from K&S aluminum rods and tubes with styrene hardware for the end pads, rack and handles. Now it looks better. Starting to like this scratch building thing! More pictures of the back of the cab with the next reply.
  13. Good man. You value friendship the way it should be.
  14. Black and chrome as a two-tone or chrome as a stripe? Team Penske Racing used to have an "aero" Freightliner trimmed in black and polished aluminum, that was pretty stunning. Couldn't care less about the shape of that rig but the finish combo was cool.
  15. Detroit Diesel 8V-92!! WoooHoo! I can almost hear it screaming! So, if you're using the Black Magic's suspension, I suppose you are going to use that kit's wheels and tires as well?
  16. Good thing you bring this up, I bought the same thing but I'm not too sure how to work this so it make a decent finish. I saw an article in an "other" magazine and they used gloss black Tamiya spray for the bottom coat. After that they applied the Alclad. The chrome effect was pretty convincing.
  17. Turned out real good! I'm surprised that a "snap" kit looks this nice, good job! It's all in the details...
  18. Would look great with a lowboy and a BIG load!
  19. Yep, what they all said! Friendship is not worth 40$. He wants it back? Give it back and get your 40$ back and buy yourself another kit. No problems, no questions asked and no bad feelings. I'm pretty sure Round 2 is going to re-issue the R600 sometime soon. It is popular in this forum.
  20. gordon, this Lonestar looks great! It already has the lowrider look without lowering the suspension. I knew it would look great with all the chrome put on. Nice build!
  21. So Jim B, you're the owner of this gorgeous GMC Astro! I have seen your build of this truck some months ago, I was astonished by the quality of the paint! I like what you did to it, best looking OEM paint scheme from GMC, great colors together, the poseable front axle, the chrome wheels, the rear fenders... Looks great! And yes it does go really well with that livestock trailer. The details on that trailer make it that much more realistic! Nice rig!
  22. That Lonestar is going to look good in any crazy color! Lime green is not my favorite but I have to say the Loner and the Italeri trailer actually look pretty sharp! Man, there is so much chrome bits on this truck it makes you blind looking at it in sunlight! Good build Gordon!
  23. Witness the first Large Car Lonestar! With all that chrome installed it's gonna look pretty sharp!
  24. There is going to be a LOT of speculation about this!!! Nobody said exactly what it could be just yet. There is only hope that there will be an anouncement, don't forget. I'm just hoping we get the announcement. But it's kinda exciting though!
