Let me try this again, what if GM was in Ford's place and invented the Model T And, what if 1886 Benz Patent Motorwagon was not invented by Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft's and Karl Benz's

What if Mercedes Benz was not first to invent the "Automobile", what if GM had invented the "Model T" instead of Ford

?Nascar kits
martinfan5 replied to retired & glad's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There are a few things you could use on a street car, the suspension is one, all the rear suspension is just truck trailing arms , and the axle , not much there, the front is pretty much just as simple, upper and lower control arms, springs, and then the shocks, those you can use on a street car. You could use the radiator from a NACCAR kit on a street car, you can use the shifter , steering wheel, the shocks, all can be adapted to a street car. And yes, even the engine, its just a small block V8 that has been tunned , are they meant to be used in a everyday driver, oh heck no, but you could make one cool sleeper using the engine. Sure, it probably wont pass emissions, so that is one problem, and I am sure, there are ways to make the engine street legal as well. But I am not sure if that would be worth the time or money to make it street legal, but depending what state you live in, and they way they have their vehicle emissions laws and for what years, if you put it in an older car, you might be ok there, but I am not sure if that only applies to showroom stock vehicles and no having to go through emissions So yes, you can use a lot of the parts from a NASCAR kit on other builds And Richard, we are building models, do what you want, its your builds, have some fun with them -

Unsafe paint booth fans - "prove it"
martinfan5 replied to Der Bugmeister's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Or he could wire up a fan with an unshielded motor, turn it on, & spray paint directly at it. Which of course, is not a good idea -
Unsafe paint booth fans - "prove it"
martinfan5 replied to Der Bugmeister's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Clay, its pretty simple really, combustible fumes and sparks dont mix, do the math, and the only way to prove it to you would to video it happening, and I am not sure anyone is willing to put their life on the line, just to "prove it to you" This is a case of what you are reading on different forums is true, and you should believe it -

No, I was not joking That contest is nothing more then a way for Revell to drum up sales , nothing more, nothing less. All I was saying is that the hobby is aimed at the baby boomer generation, which, it is. -

You have to place some of the blame on the American model companys, young people, or any generation that is not a part of the baby boom generation is not of any concern to them at this point. Their may target customer base is in the 50 + age group's, those are the ones that they cater too, and sure, you can not really blame them, but will that bite them in the rear end one day?, only time will tell -

There are no custom's duties on models kits, well, toys coming from Japan to the states, model kits fall under the toy the category Shipping is not really that bad, I shipped 7 kits awhile back, and the total was somewhere in the mid $40's, it came to be like $9 a kit, which is pretty much the average rate going for shipping in the states

I will and do agree about Ebay Seller Toyko Hobby , I have bought from them a few times, but I have found that I can get the stuff cheaper at HLJ its about $2-5 cheaper sometimes, but still they are my go to if HLJ does not have it or cant get it and Toyko Hobby has it Couldn't agree more about the Boxer twin kits, After building four , and have four more in the stash(3 more to buy), not only do they build themselves, pretty much zero flash, and next to nothing for mold lines.

Tamyia/ Aoshima/Fujimi do not market for the USA As for HLJ , do not hesitate to buy from HJL, and I am telling you this as a customer that has spent close to $700 dollars there just this year alone, you wont be disappointed, they may be slow, and you have to remember that sometimes, when they are slow, it could be because they might be on a Holiday, they have different Holidays then we do. And to be Honest, Tamyia is great, but not all their car kits great, a lot of them are basic kits, or very little parts count If you want to know what you are getting in a kit, try here, they give you a look at the parts, and the instruction book http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/car/ And one more thing about HLJ, if you find a kit that you want, but it shows it being "out of stock/back-ordered", you can still place an order for it, and they will try and most of the time , get it restocked for you , you may just have to wait up to six weeks
