Late night model builders?
martinfan5 replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I can vouch for that one  , just kidding Gabriel I am a late nighter as well, I try and get some stuff done in the evening, but the almost two year old makes that hard, (she is daddys girl) unless mommy has the Kindle out for her to play on But my build time starts around 7 or so , and ends around 1/130 But I have always been a night owl, started in my teen years, then almost every job I have had was either working 3rd or 2nd shift, I did have a few day jobs, lets say they didnt last long , hmm, I wonder why -
I have problem paying for live gold when I get everything free on Play Station that you have to pay for on Xbox. I do have PSN plus right now, but it was a Chritsmas present (three month PSN card) I cant make myself think its worth the money to pay for Live Gold for just one game , now if I didnt have the PS3, then that would be a different story

what do these terms meen?
martinfan5 replied to antiliers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It really is a toy, same goes for the Caddy kit, the Chrysler 300/the Escalade, and the Super Bee Charger, all toys pretending to be a model kit Not all kerbside kits have molded in hoods, most do yes, but there are some like the AMT promo Chevy trucks that have a separate hood, and a lot of the Japanese kerbside kits have separate hoods too -
I have had this kit sitting in the my wanna be stash for a few years now, I bought this one for a do over for the first one I built,so I figured it was time to build it, and I have been on a R34/R35 kick of late, so out it comes. This will for the time being just a be a boring box stock build , color is going to be , get ready for this.................Met blue lol Body out the box body in primer (hard to tell) working on the chassis plate brakes front and rear suspensions pieces done , ready to go the chassis plate and body in color now , decanted Tamiya Met Blue and shot through the A/B over Tamiya fine gray primer
-
Started working on the suspension and drive train

What is it about using silver for metallics that makes it good?
-
I would get Forza , but then I would have to have to get Xbox Gold, and I dont want to pay that for that
-
It all depends on what you want the hue to be, there is no wrong base to use I will give you an example, I used emerald green when I did the Bullitt Mustangs, I used a flat black base coat The best advice is to get your self some plastic spoons, or scrape plastic and do some testing with different color base coats to see which one you like the best
-
What they said, wow, just wow

Got this one done, some how manage to get some glue on the rear passenger side window, after I was done with it, hmm and it was not tell I took the pics did I notice how much something on the rear is not straight, I think the frame is wrapped a little bit and here it is with the trailer, I still need to finish it
-
It looks good with the silver base, cant wait to see it in yellow, great job on the resin kit

Toyota crewcab 4X4
martinfan5 replied to cobraman's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Ray, easy kit to build, no issues, I just finished up the stock version, check the frame though, mine was wrapped so the bed is not straight with cab -
For whatever reason, I have become to enjoy building the new Toyota FT/GT/86/BRZ kits, I like building the Aoshima version better then the Tamiya version, so far built three, with another one on bench and one more in the stash Other kits from the past that I have built more then one, I bought and built a case of the Lindberg Crown Vics+ atleast six more , I also built atleast a dozen of Revells Caprice police/taxi/fire kit, and I also built around 7 of the Lindberg Charger police kit, and 3 of the Testor Charger kits
-
Agreed
-
Up next on the bench is Aoshima's latest release, the Subaru BRZ STI concept version and here is kind of an idea of what I am going to , I am going to add the side body mods , the kit comes with the splitter for the front bumper started getting work on the body and started work on the chassis
-
Going to be watching this one, I have been holding off building mine , not looking forward to the decals
-
Mike, you are doing one hell of a job on this one
