martinfan5 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in Community Builds
What kind of paint did you buy that cost $65? -
I was trying to strip a glue/paint bomb of mine, I brush painted it many years ago, and it sat in the purple stuff for two weeks, then it took me dumping out the and putting in new purple cleaner to get it remove the paint

Dirk, I there are several things I did to lower the front end, I will post some pics as well, but I cut the front shorten the front springs and then bent the a arms up a little, and I also had to remove the mounting tabes for the axle .

Dr, the only thing to the interior was try and convert the doors to a two door set up, lets just say the reason why I have not posted pics is becasue its they look horrible

Today I Lost My Best Friend!
martinfan5 replied to Tom Setzer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man that hurts, I had to put my my last dog I had down in 2006, still miss him to this day, best dog I ever had. But just know you didnt let him, you gave him a life that he may not of got a chance to have, it will get easier, he will always be in your heart, just like sparky is for me. Nothing anyone can say will make you feel better, but it will come with time, I promise that. I was 26 when I lost sparky, I came home that night and cried my self to sleep, yes i can addmit that, he was a lab mix as well, and got him from the pound when I was 14, he was six months and had parvo, vet said he wouldnt live very long, well he showed them. I am sorry for your lose, sometimes i thinks its harder to lose a pet then a person at times. -
The down side to model forums
martinfan5 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes thats the other downside, I find myself doing that all the time, and then wonder why I did get anything done that night -
I have to addmitt, I like building stuff from stratch sometimes, I find it fullfilling , then sometimes I find it to be a pain in the rear

The down side to model forums
martinfan5 replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am really not complaining at all , I already have a list of kits in my head that I want to get, and it seems like everyday I see someones WIP or finished build, I think to myself, I should do that one too, its never ending , it keeps me going, and I know I will never get bored or tired of it. I am agree with what Greg said as well, I love the insparation and the eye candy, and I even have done some kits that I most likely would not of done if not for seeing a WIP or finshed build. Its more of a so many kits, not enough hobby money for all them at one time -
Paul ,that is looking really nice, doing a great job Patrik, the only thing when can do is make the stuff we want our selves

That gives me an idea, trying to build the GTO as a holden, or a G8 gxp, do you have any suggestions on how to do this, and cant wait to see teh Gt-one, great race car

The down side to model forums
martinfan5 posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I dont know if this happens to you guys, but it seems like everytime I am on one of the modeling forums (not SA though) I see a kit that someone is doing and then I have to add that kit to the wish list . Love the eye candy, but I can not keep up with all the kits that I want to do , thank goodness for tax time and getting money back ,I think I am going to going on a small shopping spree( if the miss's lets me) -
Yes I did, I almost went with black, but I have doing alot of black paint builds that I didnt want another one , and while looking at images of the STS, I saw alot of blues one and they looked really good . The blue I am using is Model Master Ford pearl blue lacquer

United States Pricing
martinfan5 replied to Big Daddy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only model stuff I dont buy online is paint and everything needed, I seem to be able to get alot more kits online then if I were to buy at the LHS, meaning more bang for the buck , I have been buying from tower hobbies alot more using their free shipping offer on $30 or more. I use them for getting new kits -
The Gumball Rally- GUMBALL HAS STARTED
martinfan5 replied to Nick Winter's topic in Community Builds
Nick- nice work on the wheels, plates look good too I am still trying to figure out what I want to drive accross counrty in -
I thought about that, but no the doors are now glued shut. To be honest I just did not want the added work and the interior really isnt that great so no reason to show it off any more
-
Been working on this, still having problems getting the door lines filled up and smooth. Did get the new door lines in place, not the best looking, but this is the first time I have done something like this, well not making new door lines.

Here it is with a few light coats of paint,

Here is what the new ride looks like with the front and rear being lowered and here is the interior
