New "Band Wagon", let's all get on.

I used to own a four hole Buick! -
Nice work Bernard! That is a fun little kit just to do something quick and fun. Here's another one I started. I believe it was the Newburgh club that did a project around this kit.

and a good one that just happened in the last half hour... I got a call from the Bed & Breakfast we stayed at asking us if we stole their TV remote. Just to be sure I looked through all our luggage and things we had in the room. My wife said it was on the bureau next to the TV when we left. Then I remembered that when we were leaving, my wife took pictures of the room... an interesting two story thing with a sitting room with a hot tub and a loft like bedroom upstairs. Very nice! So I look at the photo and sure enough, the remote is sitting right where we left it. So I sent the photo to the B&B. The owner called up a few minutes later laughing.

When I was 12 I decided to get a picture of a car on fire. So I lit up my Tijuana Taxi and snapped a picture of it on fire with my Polariod Swinger camera. It burned to the ground while I waited the 30 seconds for the photo to develop... and all I got was a picture of a bright spot!

Here's a good story from this past weekend. My wife and I went to a bed & breakfast in New Hope, PA which is across a walkable bridge from Lambertville, NJ. There was a restaurant there she had wanted to eat in. We went in and asked if they were BYOB, and the ladies at the hostess station said yes, and directed us to go two blocks up, and two blocks across to a liquor store. After we return from that long walk with a six pack, the very same lady asks, "Do you have a reservation? You need a reservation." I'm flaberghasted! I start to reason, "Hey, you sent us to buy liquor..." My usually timid little wife pushes me out of the way and goes right into this lady's face and starts screaming, "It's our anniversary and I'm having an operation next week and I AM having dinner here right now!" We were immediately shown to a good table.

I forgot all about this one until Antonio posted his! The red on the body is the original plastic, that I had masked with BMF as an experiment. Pickup bed was scratch built. Interior has a '57 Chevy dashboard and I narrowed a traditional style seat to fit. Pity is that once in the body, you see very little through those little slit windows!

and the funny thing is that my Buick doesn't have them! -
And I actually forgot about this one! Concept Camaro built for my club's same kit contest. I thought it would be fun to do the retro thing on it. Color is a 1971 Chevy color. The snapper was the perfect canvas for that idea! All I had to concentrate on was the body and interior... no engine or chassis to drag the project.

What irks me today? This whole Bruce Jenner thing all over the news. Can't change the channel without seeing more of it! This is NOT news, Argh!

How about a little flame? That's all the flames I've got!

Something I read in another thread today got me thinking about snap kits... I remember now, it was about the Lindberg Dakota kit, and how nice it was "for a snap kit". Well, we've all done a snapper or two and have had fun with them. So let's post some... Johan 1962 Studebaker Lark Convertible Revell 1963 Corvette AMT 1973 Barracuda - Still need to finish this one! Fastback concept car. And a pair of Lindberg Dodge Grand Caravans. These are further along than this photo. So post some fun snap kits! It doesn't matter if you just painted and assembled them, modified them severely or used them as a basis for a detailed build!

Michigan police cars

Back in the old days towns could very well just buy the car make of the dealer in that town. Or from their wink-wink friend! -

I don't get it either. I guess everyone got bored with the peel and stick port holes? -
What if Monogram had done 1/25?
Tom Geiger replied to Southern Fried's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's a photo to illustrate my comment on toy like details. Although this is nicely painted, everything under the hood is molded in, from the master cylinder to the battery, as well as all the gadgets, wiring and hoses on the inner fenders -
Ah, that'll buff out. In the end you'll have a complete extra chassis to put under another 'cuda!

Welcome Bruce! Nice Builds! You Pass The Audition! -
I actually took this one myself over the weekend. It's on the bridge over the Delaware River between New Hope, PA and Lambertville, NJ. The irony is that the bridge is low and the water fairly shallow. If you jumped off this bridge, the worst thing is that you'd have to dog paddle to the shore.

Hawaii? Hmmmm.... maybe Greg could go knock on his door to get the whole story?! -
As much as we look back fondly on Johan kits, they had many issues... a lot of scale issues as they were sliced and diced to fit in the promo box, as well as those super shallow interiors. The Johan tooling that probably exists today: AMX / Comet... last seen in Testors boxes in the Seville era.. were these safely out at a company that produced the last kits when the sky fell in? 1930s Cadillac and Mercedes... Okey included 'rat' versions of these in his first Johan brochure. Reasonable to think he had the tools. 1959 Rambo Wagon, 1959 Dodge and Chrysler Turbine... we know they exist and where they are today. I don't believe Okey had the Fury Police Car. Rumor was that he just assembled those kits he sold from a parts hoard. Any additions?

What if Monogram had done 1/25?
Tom Geiger replied to Southern Fried's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The thing that turned me off to the Monogram offerings was the simplification of them. Not only were they off scale from the rest of the collection, but had less parts and details, like molded in engine compartment details like batteries etc. In the Dodge Ramcharger, the chassis detail consisted of a frame mounted right onto the interior bucket bottom... with big gaps all around it. Toy like.
