  1. I think their marketing strategy is reissue kits they think would boost sales and revenue, but many of us have these old regurgitated kits that are nothing new and asking crazy prices that newly tooled kits are getting, ridiculous! I get it with the new Camaro, which is a nice kit. But how many times are they going to repackage the same old stuff that many of us do not want, their plan can back fire with loads of these kits sitting in a warehouse, while that wasted cost could be allocated to at least one new tool.I just wish they would invest in new tools or at least modified tools for new versions!

  4. Younger builders may not have any interest in these kits, they did not grow up with our cars and if anything, they would want newer vehicles, if they have interest at all in the hobby. For the prices of $30 or so, i'll spend my money on a highly detailed tool of a vehicle we haven't seen and most of us would want..like a Moebius kit. It's a ridiculous pricing strategy for same old kits, unless it's something we haven't seen since it's first run. So I guess we have the privilege of complaining especially when the prices of kits are so high and the values are not up to par in these releases.

  6. Alan: I've been waiting for Landy's 67 R/T since Revell release their 67 Coronet R/T! Is the decal available now? Been to your site and could not find it. Thanks, Bobby G.
  7. Nick, I do agree on all points. Hopefully our hobby can grow with the younger generations as they seem to with the military followers. And the reason for that is so many vets want to build aircraft, ships and vehicles that they have depended on while serving our country, to your point. Just wish we can intrigue more youths into car modeling as well. We can only hope for the best.
  8. Then, what you are saying, the model companies should just stay status quo, rely on old tools that have saturated and overly regurgitated in the market and make no new developments (or really, take advantage of existing tools when it makes sense) to compete? How do you think companies make decisions for new products? I venture to say most decisions are from what the market bears, what consumers want and if it's feasible decisions. With the technology we have today, developing new product is less time consumer and more accurate, and of course there is costs which no doubt are very high compared to re-issuing product...but how can any company sustain without new choices? Just giving my opinion as I have been a modeller for 55 plus years and going on my experience in business as well.
  9. Nick, Modelhaus' prices have always been pretty steep, not everyone can afford them regardless of how badly they may want the subject or reluctant to work with resin. This is not to say their quality and choices were not superior! Modelhaus was the most reliable and popular with resin buyers and provided the only choices for missing subjects. The original MPC 68 Coronet is bringing $200-300 unbuilt and $150 or so for a built or messed up kit...that tells me there is a demand for a new 68 Coronet. Same thing with JoHan's 70 GTX. Revell is missing an opportunity to capture market demand.
  10. Mark, while this may be true, I get it. What people will spend just to have an old kit from when they were kids. As advent modeller, I am guilty of this and a lot of people will buy the old kits to make them more accurate by kitbashing with today's more detailed kits, you see it on this forum all the time. That tells me the market is ripe. I for one do this all the time depending on if I really want that subject detailed out that badly and to fill a void. However, using Moebius as an example, they have come out with subjects we never had with significant accuracy and have made an impact on us...we can't wait for their next release! It would be nice for Round 2 and Revell to use existing tools and modify or duplicate them with new versions. Easily meaning, they have most of the work done and should take advantage of the potential the market bears. Regarding Mopar A and B-Bodies, the design work is already there and the intent was there from the beginning. Yes they are more expensive than just re-popping old tools and redesigning new boxes, but if most of the tools exists, my business sense enables me to think there is a lower investment of time to produce new subjects at a lower cost, that's all. This is nothing new, it's been done for years and it's just taking advantage to what exists while comparing the costs to an all new tool.
  11. I stand corrected, I was really thinking Round 2 AMT for the current generation Camaro!
  12. Doug: My sentiments exactly! Most of the tooling for the Charger 500 is there, just body mods and grill. Same for the Coronets, all the guts are tooled just body and interior need to be mastered. The Demon would be a winner since Round 2 is stuck in an abyss without any plans for newly tooled kits but they can use the Duster tooling. Revell's 09 Challenger kit is very long in the tooth and badly needs an update to a Hellcat or Demon (but they are stuck on Camaros, not that there is anything wrong with that, but give Mopars an equal focus)! I hope Sexton is looking at these forum threads! If I am a marketing and product manager at Revell, I'd be looking to bury my competition. They have no problem filling the gaps with Chevys! As for Round 2, their retro boxes are OK but their kits are same old same, big deal! They have been missing the boat for years with their 57 Chrysler 300 and 58 Plymouth kits. Easily use the tooling for a 57/58 Desoto Adventurer or 59 Plymouth Fury/Dodge Coronet. Update the 68/69 GTX/Road Runner kits to an accurate 70 version. Seeing how the prices are for the old JoHan Mopar kits, they should be jumping all over it.
  13. Now that Revell has the stock 70 Charger coming out, I would rather see a 69 Charger 500 (with the recall wheels) than a re-issue of the 70 Daytona. That would complete all 68 through 70 Chargers. While they are it tooling the correct 500 grille, use that grill and put a new 68 Coronet R/T or Super bee.behind it. While I'm at it begging, I really wish they come out with a very accurate 70-71 Challenger and just bite the bullet. Just sayin!
  14. Joseph is great to work with and can't say enough about his products! I think I have a separate bank account just for Fireball! Can't wait for Joseph's Mopar SixPack carbs and manifold!!
  15. Joseph is an awesome guy to deal with. Whenever I send an email to ask about something, he responds quickly. His products are superior and delivery time is quick. I have ordered several times from him and never been disappointed. When I asked about making Carter AFBs for my Max Wedge, he made them! I always look forward to what's next and can't wait for the new stuff, we definitley need to continue supporting Joseph!
  16. Alan Thanks, please let me know when this is available. I have more pics of this car if you would like, I can send to your pm.
  17. Alan: Any chance to make Dick Landy's 67 Coronet, I have decals but they are pretty crude and will not use them. Thanks Bobby G
  18. Mike: do you have information on where to order Airtrax kits? Thanks
  19. Bill: Contact Kevin Lutz at Missing Link, he has cast my manifolds in resin and are available. His email address is: kawifreek@msn.com
