Head forklift operator at a foodservice distributor. I fill up the empty slots with pallets of product so that the order selector can fill his order. Tim, we're proud to say that 98% of our trailer fleet is Utility. Or at least I am. We had a shuttle driver fall asleep behind the wheel carrying two Utility trailers. Both overturned. Both are still operational. Keep up the good work. RYAN.

I feel your pain. Barely two weeks after I got my then new Ford Ranger, I had a deer run into the side of my truck. The left rear panel has a nice big dent in it, now. Actually took the paint off. I was steaming mad because I had just bought the truck and it was in perfect shape. Not a scratch, and not a dent in sight.

What Gave You Confidence or Cheered You Up Today?
metalhead replied to LokisTyro's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Leaving work and looking forward to the Southern Outlaw Tour on Saturday. But above all else was going to pick up my mom and spending quality time with her. Just doing the little things for her makes me feel like a champion. RYAN. -
Co-workers that don't give a toot about what the warehouse looks like the day before the CEO arrives. Managers that don't give a toot about said coworkers not giving a toot. Me getting blamed for not "stepping up" and helping when I was the one voicing my concerns about said co-workers! Yep, had a nice, long meeting with my boss over that. And it's not just when the CEO or somebody else important, it's every day. Dayshift constantly eating into my shift putting me an hour and a half behind, leaving me with a dead forklift. I need another job.

Ford Lightning
metalhead replied to metalhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well, I got the Lightning painted again after soaking in brake fluid for about a month. That was some really tough paint! Going with Tamiya bright orange. And wouldn't you know it, I ran out of paint again! Being on a somewhat limited budget, I'm not able to afford any kind of paint right now. But, I have been working on it. I popped off the valve covers to respray them. I also drilled out the tailpipes and installed them. Interior is more or less complete and just doing some of the larger assemblies to get them ready for paint. Just nothing worth showing at this time, really. I'm kinda going for a halloween theme with black rims and maybe a big pumpkin on the hood or the tailgate. What do you guys think? I'll try to update this again when I get in some more paint. Wouldn't it be nice if Hobby Lobby or Michaels carried Tamiya paint? RYAN. -
Scania 142 Wrecker Revell
metalhead replied to le_marbrier's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Isn't that the same wrecker body in the Western Star kit? Looks familiar. -
I was browsing around in a flea market today and I found a Revell Mustang Cobra combo kit for $20. I also got two Hasegawa F-104's for $12 each, an Academy super Stallion for $35, an Accurate Miniatures TBF Avenger for $20, and A Lindberg Snark kit for $15. So, six kits for around $100. Not bad I think. RYAN.

I have been experimenting with different types of paints lately. I have sprayed a couple and put a few coats of clear over it. I was wondering if there's a specific method of polishing out the paint to get that mirror shine. I hear a lot of guys say they polish the paint after a gloss coat. But I can't find a method that works for me. The reason I ask is that I look at Tim Ahlborn's truck models and the paint finish is ridiculously good. do you wet sand the clear coat to polish it out or is there some magic science behind it? I really want to make my models look better, so I'll take all the help I can get. Thanks, RYAN.

The new international prostar
metalhead replied to catd11rpusher's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I'm very tempted to start on mine, but I work long hours at my job. So no build time right now. Also, I want to clear up some older projects, first. -

1/12 2010 Shelby GT500 "Super Snake" COMPLETED in Under Glass
metalhead replied to Kennyboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
If I may ask, what was your method of decanting Duplicolor paint? With that weird nozzle they have, I'm having a lot of trouble getting an even finish and a lot of build up. Thanks for any help regarding this matter. RYAN. -
Just got my Moebius Prostars!
metalhead replied to BigBad's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah, I'm pretty excited too! I got mine about a week ago and I am extremely tempted to start it. But, I'm going to try to finish up some other projects before I start on the Prostar. -

metalhead replied to Prostreet's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I've had some success ordering the Ross Gibson engines from Megahobby.com. They're under the model cars section. They have an aftermarket section for engines, plug wires, ect. I hope this helps with your engine problem. RYAN. -
Spruebrothers, Megahobby, and Amazon.com for most of the models. I tend to use Megahobby for ordering my supplies like paint and other stuff along with the models. I also use Hobby Lobby when I just need one or two bottles of the basic color paints. But I find that HL has the same basic models every time, no variety. RYAN.

Ford Lightning
metalhead replied to metalhead's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I've had to put this one on hold. I was putting on the clear coat. While I was clearing the other parts, my paint stand got knocked over by my cat. So, I have to strip the cab and the bed. To make things worse, I'm out of the Tamiya paint that I need. RYAN. Don't worry, I didn't kill the cat.... -

Hands down, my favorite band is Moonspell. Their album Omega White is paying tribute to the singer from Type O Negative. Great singing, great music and not too heavy. My all time favorite song from them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITVxcT1Sw5c
