I'd take a drill bit that matches the size of the molded "holes" on the rotors, and use a pin vise to drill out each hole by hand. Use the depression already molded into the rotor as your layout guide. Like I said, kind of tedious, but worth the effort. That's how I did it on these:

Looks good to me! Comments/critiques: The good: Nice attention to detail, like the sanded tire surfaces, the small fittings, etc. Excellent work. The bad: Should have drilled the rotors. Kind of tedious to do, but relatively easy and makes a world of difference, especially at a large scale like this.

What? Haven't you applied for your federal bailout yet??? -
Mustang wagon? VW Cruiser? 1940 Edsel?

I don't think I've ever seen a '64 Impala in that color... but man, it looks great! Especially with the cream colored roof. I really don't like the styling of the '64 Impala ('63, '65-6-7 much better), but in this color that's a cool looking car. Nice job!

decal question...need help!!
Harry P. replied to Jeff Sauber's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sometimes on older decal sheets the clear carrier film will yellow with age. I've heard about a trick where you tape the decal sheet inside a window and expose the sheet to the sun for several hours. The sunlight supposedly clears up the carrier film and gets rid of the yellowing. I've never tried this, only heard about it... so I can't recommend it from personal experience, but I thought I'd pass it on for what it's worth. -

Trim the decal off the sheet right to the edge of the color... don't leave any carrier film. -
That's an... um.... ah..... "interesting" color combination...

Decals look like smaller versions of a combination of what comes in the Big T and Big Deuce reissue, even the Devil head looks similar... -
BTW... it was Roseanne Roseannadanna who said "It's always something," not Emily Litella...
-
Emily Litella: "What's all this talk I hear about us wasting our natural race horses? Don't we have enough race horses in this country?" Chevy Chase: "That's natural resources. Wasting our natural RESOURCES." Emily Litella: "Oh." "Never mind!"

Note to the two people who voted "MODEL" after I already gave the answer: It doesn't work that way. You're supposed to vote BEFORE I tell you the answer...
-
ok, I'm late cuz I had some "real work" to do! (as in paying client!) Final vote: 34-8 REAL! Which means once again you guys were REAL WRONG!!! It's a MODEL! A styling studio model, to be exact. Yes, an actual styling studio gets the credit-or blame-for this one!!! Hey, it's better looking than an Aztec!!! Note the fact that there are no mirrors, no wipers, the door handles look to be simple flat cutouts of silver mylar or something. I'm not sure what scale this is, but it's definitely a model! Next ROM coming Monday!

They stole the doors??????

Sure, built from the ground up. But designed from the ground up? I see more than a bit of similarity between Foose's "original design" and a '37 Ford... or is that just me???
-
I don't see a whole lot of "designing" here at all... I see "customizing," that is, taking an existing car and changing the details. Removing the bumpers, the windshield wipers and door handles, filling in the seam between the body and the fenders... that all falls under "customizing." "Designing" would mean designing a car from scratch, the way Gordon Buehrig (sp?) designed the Cord, for example... or the way Alex Tremulis designed the Tucker, or the way Raymond Loewy designed Studebakers or Dick Teague designed a lot of the AMC cars, or Harley Earl and the Art and Color Department at GM, or JMays and his team currently. They didn't take an existing car and change the details... they created a whole new car from the ground up. There is a big difference between "designing" a car and "customizing" one. I guess some of you already know my opinion of the "genius designer" status that Chip Foose has among a lot of people... Anyway, enough lecturing from me! I'll get off the old soap box now. Regardless of the origin of the real car, this is a terrific looking model. Very nicely done, great color choice between the body and the top, very cleanly built. Looks great to me!

1/8 scale stock wheels/tires, stock front and rear ends, a correct stock engine and a correct stock interior would have been most welcome! Somehow I think that those parts would have stirred more interest than the wheel disks and the Indian blanket that were included in the reissue. Hey, I'm not complaining... I bought and built 2 Big Deuce reissues, plus 2 Big T reissues. I have Deuces and Ts all over my shelves! But oh, for those stock parts... -
Now you're talkin'...

I was relating your comment to mine, not literally questioning whether or not it was a good idea. Ok, how about this from out of left field: How cool would it have been if the recent re-issue of the Big Deuce had included parts to build one stock? Heck, keep the spun aluminum disks and the Indian blanket and give me the option of a 1/8 scale stocker. Can you imagine the buzz that would have caused? Or all the amazing 1/8 scale models a kit like that would have inspired??? Ok, I know I'm dreaming now... -

Add up the costs of producing and packaging all the various rehashes, reissues and modified reissues that they've come up with, and suddenly the idea of having released just ONE kit with stock and street rod parts in the first place might just have been kind of a smart idea after all. Now maybe giving us slightly different kits in drips and drabs over time actually does sell more kits overall vs. one comprehensive kit, because each kit is seen as a "new" kit, causes some new buzz and probably attracts new buyers. But I still think that in the case of such an iconic subject as a '32 Ford, offering a well-done kit which included the option of a factory-stock buildup would have been a wise idea in the long run. But then again, I don't work for the model companies. -
