  1. Very cool, Jim! Love it, especially the interior. I love the red gauges.
  2. The thing is, he wasn't really all that old. 71. Don't know the circumstances of his death (Natural causes? Cancer? Chronic illness?). But regardless of the reason, I think 71 is a bit early to be checking out.
  3. Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer.
  4. Well, you didn't say glassine... we thought they were plastic sleeves.
  5. I prefer ebay because the types of kits I like to build are just about all long out of production and couldn't be found at a hobby shop or a big-box store. Online is the only source (and the best source, because I can literally shop the entire planet).
  6. Carl... it's a huge scam.
  7. That's what would worry me.
  8. Sadly, prices here are edging up again. Average price per gallon around $1.90 or so. Not bad compared to the $3-4 we were paying a few years ago, but still...I was really liking those $1.59 prices!
  9. And from everything I have ever read, a true gentleman in every way. RIP, George. Your work will live on forever.
  10. Looks pretty good to me! Nice work.
  11. Cliff... you and Larry make the rest of us look like hacks...
  12. Go to google.com. Type in OEM. Bang. Answer. Elapsed time? Maybe five seconds? Not exactly a "whole lot of time" put into research. Don't misunderstand me... I have no problem with people asking questions here. In fact, I encourage it. But the OP said that he was "wracking his brain" trying to figure out the answer. I just let him know that the answer was literally seconds away.
  13. I find that impossible to believe. Even if you cut precise areas of foil for each application, like for curved wheel arches, for example, you still wind up with odd sections of foil on the sheet between the sections you've cut and used. And if you are clever enough to plan ahead so precisely that you can also use the pieces between the pieces, there's still no way you're using 98% of the sheet.
  14. I agree. Given the price of the stuff, I do try to cut pieces as accurately (and as small) as possible to cover the area I want to cover, but it's very hard to cut a piece without at least some waste. I'd guess half a sheet winding up being waste is about right.
  15. I thought everyone knew that 2x4's cause birth defects...
  16. Yeah, I just got tired of having them all crammed into a bookshelf in a giant messy pile. Much nicer this way...
  17. You could have just googled it and had the answer in 5 seconds.
  18. He also played on many of the Beatle's songs. Not many people know that. And he was also a composer. The strings on "Eleanor Rigby" are his composition.
  19. The genius behind the Beatles' studio recordings has died at 90. He was far more involved in the Beatles' music than most people will ever know.
  20. Back when Danbury Mint was still in the model car business, I was a big fan... and a good customer. Because of that, I used to get a lot of DM brochures in the mail... seemed like I got one one every week or so. I saved them all–not sure why exactly, but I did. They were all crammed into a bookcase shelf. So I finally decided I had to do something about that pile of brochures. I bought a few three-ring binders and some clear plastic 8x10 sleeves at Hobby Lobby, and turned a messy pile of mail into a nice, neat collection. Should have done it years ago...
  21. Man, I don't get paid enough to do that...
  22. I agree this story smells fishy. We'll have to wait and see how it all shakes out.
