  1. There are a lot of them. Here's one: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/archive/index.php/f-165.html
  2. Another way: do a google image search for the gauges you're looking for. Print them out to size and glue in place on your dash. You can just cut out the gauges and glue them with Elmer's glue, or print the images on decal paper and apply them as decals.
  3. I'll be keeping an eye out for used ones.
  4. Ok...let's try this again. Remember...there's only one rule: if you KNOW the answer, please don't tell! The answer: MODEL!
  5. ??? Once again...I don't get it. What are you saying here?
  6. Can someone explain the number to me???
  7. oh, ok. I thought maybe I was asleep at the wheel!
  8. The fireman and the mortician??? Did I miss something?
  9. Right! I remember them being very common when I was a kid. I LOVED the look when all the windows were rolled down and you had that huge expanse of "open" front to back. As a little kid I drooled over those babies!
  10. Very nice...and a beautiful color!
  11. Now that's one SWEET 68 Nova...
  12. I've been checking out prices on the Sherline website. Ouch!!! Those babies are NOT cheap!!!
  13. I don't agree that huge blind spots or other design flaws are an unavoidable result of meeting safety standards. Here's a modern car that I think most would agree looks pretty good...a car that looks to me to offer excellent visibility, with quite thin C pillars. And I'm sure it meets or exceeds all current safety standards. A well designed car doesn't need gizmos and gadgets to overcome any shortcomings. And if M-B can do it, so can the rest of them. But American consumers eat up the gizmos and gadgets...they love stuff like that. That's why cars now come with coolers in the glove box, heated/cooled seats, nav systems, self-parking (!!!), auto-on wipers, keyless entry, remote start...and on and on. It's amazing how much "help" today's drivers need from gizmos and gadgets.
  14. Thanks to all for your input. It looks like most of you think that Sherline might offer the best "bang for the buck". I'm going to check it out. Like I said, my budget isn't unlimited, but I'd rather spend a bit more up front to get a good machine that'll last. It's cheaper in the long run to do that, rather than buy a bargain-priced machine that'll break down soon. The Chinese-made machines don't seem to impress you guys, so I think I'll check into Sherline.
  15. And that speaks volumes about the design of many of today's cars. If a car needs a rear-view camera because of giant blind spots, there's something inherently wrong with the basic design of the car. A well-designed, user-friendly car shouldn't NEED gimmicks like rear-view cameras to make up for poor design.
  16. Cars these days are out of control with all the "safety" features. Now they even have a camera so you can see what you're backing into by watching the screen on your dash! Uh....have we lost the ability to TURN AROUND and LOOK WHERE WE'RE GOING when we back up???
  17. Uo until now the only power tool I've ever used in modeling is a Dremel. But seeing some of the fantastic machined parts others are creating, I'm getting the urge to join the "power tool posse". I'd love to be able to turn and/or mill my own parts out of aluminum, brass, nylon, whatever. I know very little about modeling power tools (lathes, etc.) About all I DO know is the name "Sherline"...I've see the name mentioned many times. So I'm asking any machining pros out there: Is Sherline the "Rolls Royce" of modeling power tools? Are there other brands? What sort of basic assortment of tools would be a logical start? I'm assuming a lathe and a milling machine. I've heard of some sort of "all in one" tool (Unimat???). I don't have an unlimited budget, but I don't want to buy junk. Any suggestions are welcome...
  18. Gee...this build-off has sure veered off track! You're welcome! (It was my idea, after all...)
  19. You should have sent this one to me...it could have fooled a lot of people on "Real or Model"!
  20. b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b-b bad....bad to the bone.....
  21. ??????? Did your dad know how to time travel?
  22. This whole refrigeration thing seems kind of useless. After all, BMF isn't shipped in refrigerated trucks, and it's certainly not displayed in your LHS's refrigerator case! It's not packed in an airtight envelope, plus, there's no way to tell how long the stuff has been on the display rack...maybe a few days, maybe a few months. Maybe a year or more! That's a lot of unrefrigerated time the foil has already been through, before you bought it! If the product deteriorates under room temp conditions, isn't refrigerating the stuff after you buy it sort of like closing the barn door after the horse got away? Seems to me that refrigerating it after you buy it can only slow the deterioration that's already occured before you bought it. Not a good situation. Better they should identify and correct the problem. Or at least print an expiration date on the package.
  23. Exactly. These problems with cracking and bad adhesion never happened years ago. Obviously the people at BMF changed their manufacturing process, their adhesive, or something...but whatever they did, it was for the worse, and now they seem to shift the blame for the product not working correctly to the consumer! Years ago there was no warning that BMF needed refrigeration, the sheets didn't crack even after years... is this progress?
  24. I agree with the others...the third time's the charm. Very clean and classy...just the right look for this particular car. And your wheels look good too...big, for sure, but not so big as to look "cartoony". They're just right. BTW...I would've added wheelwells/fender liners up front. Just my unsolicited 2 cents...
  25. We have similar ads here in Chicago. The "debt consolidation" lawyers are having a field day. And how do they advertise to the knuckleheads that got themselves in debt? By telling them "It's not your fault", and making the credit card companies look like the villian for having the nerve to want you to pay the money that you owe them! Crazy society, isn't it?
