  1. Interesting that you mention me... I've been eyeing that exact kit on ebay lately...
  2. Wow... the Vikings just missed a chip shot 27 yard FG that would have won them the game. Instead, they just lost 10-9 to Seattle.
  3. I got the Powerball number right. I just missed all the others.
  4. When the hose blows, there's a huge billowing cloud of white smoke trailing the car. Later in the movie he's sitting at the side of the road, and as the truck approached again he restarts the car and speeds off just before the truck rams him. The Valiant is seen speeding down the road. but this time there is no white smoke, so apparently the radiator hose healed itself! Also... at the very end, the Valiant is clearly shown ramming into the oncoming truck directly head on. But as the truck pushes the Valiant over the cliff after the truck driver loses control, the Valiant is seen placed crosswise across the front of the truck. Oops...
  5. Well, it turns out I was obviously sold some defective Powerball tickets yesterday...
  6. She was a cutie. Nice tribute.
  7. I only missed five numbers!
  8. Geez, Bill, that's two flashes in one day... Pace yourself!
  9. Isn't everything turned into a politcal tool?
  10. Anyone here on this forum who hasn't seen it needs to see it. You will like it. Guaranteed.
  11. As the article states, this is years down the road... assuming it actually will work at all. But hey... possible good news is better than bad news.
  12. Ha! Exactly what I thought when I read Mark's list! He would need to win several Powerballs to fund all those kits! But you can't fault the guy for thinking BIG!
  13. 1/8 scale 1930s-era exotic car like a Hispano-Suiza, Delahaye, or something like that. And a 1/8 scale Superbird or Daytona.
  14. 3-4 eggs every day???!!! Isn't that going to put your cholesterol through the roof?
  15. Chicken or duck?
  16. The timeline of the movie compresses the actual timeline, and some characters and events are altered slightly for the benefit of presenting the story, but the plot and all of the basic elements of the movie are accurate.
  17. Looks like we have a pretty good conversation going about the movie "Duel." So in that regard, I have to recommend another movie to you guys... Tucker: The Man and His Dream, starring Jeff Bridges, Martin Landau, Lloyd Bridges, Joan Allen and Christian Slater. If you are in any way a "car guy" and you haven't seen this movie, I guarantee you will enjoy it. Watch it. You'll love it. Heck, even if you had no interest in cars whatsoever, it's still a great movie!
  18. You're correct... overall there were four trucks. That "Hulk" truck was the "backup" truck that was bought when they added the additional scenes to the original TV movie. Neither the truck that was used in the original TV movie or the truck that was used in the additional scenes exist any more. The truck in the original movie was actually crashed and destroyed in the movie's ending, and the truck that appeared in the added scenes was destroyed in another production after it had been used in the additional "Duel" scenes. Any "surviving" Duel trucks never appeared in the movie, either the original TV version or the expanded theatrical release.
  19. Nobody had a bigger, lasting impact on popular music than they did. Glad to hear you're a "new" fan!
  20. I wouldn't be surprised if it was that much. Property tax alone is an absolute killer. Here in "Crook" County we get our property tax bills mailed to us twice a year–half at a time... maybe to make the actual total tax slightly easier to swallow? But dang! When I think what a huge chunk of my annual income goes to paying my property tax, it's enough to make me wanna puke...
  21. I hear ya. I'm in the same boat... getting older and at the same time getting less and less physical exercise. It's so hard for me to get up the motivation to work out. Much easier to watch TV! But like you, I need to get my act in gear and start up some sort of regular exercise. Like they say, use it or lose it. The worst part is, as you age your metabolism naturally slows down... but my appetite hasn't! But I can't afford to eat like I did when I was 20. Again, hard to cut back when you like food so much!
  22. You guys are making me hungry!
  23. No, you're not nuts. Actually, that's about the best explanation of "kit hoarding" I've ever heard.
  24. I know I'm in the minority here, but I never understood the concept of amassing hundreds and hundreds of kits. Obviously they can't all be built in your lifetime, so why do it? I guess I'm the oddball here, but if I buy a kit, it's because I want to build it. It doesn't always work out quite so neatly, but after 50 years in the hobby I have maybe 25 unbuilt kits, tops. And that seems like a lot to me, because it represents several years of building.
  25. I like cheese!
