  1. Jackie Chiles!
  2. How did you deal with the seam that runs right down the middle? I still have the base and would like to use it, but I can't figure out a good way to get rid of that seam.
  3. Most of the photos in post 463 could pass for the real thing. That is a sure sign you're doing things right.
  4. Thanks, but it looks way better in real life. The camera flash emphasizes the black wash for some reason; in real life the effect is much more subtle and the seat doesn't have that hard shine that it looks to have in the picture. When I put this thing "Under Glass" I'll have to try some shots using natural light and no flash.
  5. I added the wood trim to the front of the seat platform using basswood strips and 1/64" birch veneer, all stained and then "varnished" with Future. The decorative brass "bullets" are brass planking nails left over from a wooden ship kit. I added a black wash around each of them... the effect is very subtle, but very apparent if you saw a "before" photo. The seat was painted with an acrylic dark red I mixed up, then blackwashed with a mix of Future and acrylic black, and finally sprayed with Varathane Satin water-based varnish. The camera flash adds some specular highlights on the seat that you don't see in real life. The seat "leather" looks more like real leather to the naked eye. The grab handles on the seat are kit pieces.
  6. Remember, don't post any hints or answers here! PM me with year, make, and model. The answer: 1957-60 Peerless GT
  7. Cool. Nice transformation.
  8. Well, not my favorite band. But definitely in my top 10. For me, the Beatles come first. Above and beyond all others. After that it gets very hard to rank them. Impossible, actually. My top 10 other than the Beatles ( in no particular order because there's no way I could put them in any order)... Springsteen. Rolling Stones. Led Zeppelin. Byrds. REM. Fleetwood Mac. Pearl Jam. Pink Floyd. Hendrix. Eagles. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Ok, I know that's technically 11.
  9. You said this would be Iris Metallic with a Lilac top. Top looks like Ivory or Cream to me. What's up? You said Iris Metallic with a Lilac top. Top looks Ivory or Cream to me? Am I missing something?
  10. Wow. The color balance between the first and second photos above is way different. I think the first photo is more true to life. You must have changed the lighting somehow.
  11. Could use a few more pix (and bigger ones)...
  12. Barris didn't do the Monkeemobile. He took credit for it (like a bunch of other cars he didn't do). Dean Jeffries did the Monkeemobile.
  13. No school like old school...
  14. I'm positive you can do it. It's not that hard. If you can build a model that looks that good, you have what it takes to do foil. It does take a bit of practice if you've never tried it, but like any other skill, you can learn it. You can always practice on a scrap body or some old model you don't care about. Believe me... once you get the hang of it (and you will), you won't ever build another model without it.
  15. Nice. But could look even better if you foiled the window trim.
  16. Welcome aboard, Ross!
  17. Welcome aboard! You'll find plenty of Mopar fans here!
  18. Clever! Now if you had made the scoop look like an electric guitar pickup, that would have been even more clever!
  19. I suggest a white interior with black carpeting and accents.

  21. Now we're getting somewhere! It's beginning to look like a car...
  22. Maybe their other colors are more flexible, but the metallic gold is pretty stiff, even at 1/64". It does not like going around radiuses.
