  1. Finishing the seat support/shell (what passes for the "body" on this car) took some time. First I sprayed it Gloss Ivory, then used Tamiya tape to mask off the depressed areas... Then I mixed up a shade of red using acrylic craft paints that matched the color of the fenders that I had sprayed with Rustoleum, and brush painted the raised ribs. I brush painted with acrylics instead of just using the Rustoleum spray because I was afraid some of the red would seep under the tape and ruin the piece. Acrylic paint is pretty thick, so it won't tend to seep into minute crevices, plus by brushing it I can put down a thin first coat to "seal" the tape edges, than add a couple of heavier coats to get full coverage. Finally I sealed the acrylic red with a coat of Future... Once everything was dry I carefully ran the tip of a brand-new blade along every tape edge in order to cut through the red paint and Future, so that when I pulled away the tape I would get a clean edge with no paint being pulled off. Then a added the pinstripes using the same pinstriping tape I used on the fenders (it shows up in the photos much better on the Ivory than on the red fenders: The last step will be brushing on a few coats of Future so seal the tape stripes.
  2. Got the fenders done. It's hard to see in the photos, but I used some gold 1/64" pinstriping tape on them. The tape was hard to work with. Being so thin, it's hard to get it to lay down straight. It also has a clear plastic protective layer on top that you have to remove, so laying down the tape while trying to remove the clear plastic as you go is a real pain. The pinstripes are tough to see in these photos, but they're much more obvious in "real life."
  3. Exactly. I was agreeing with you!
  4. If I've never heard of her, she's not "famous."
  5. She was also on "Third Rock From the Sun"... she played the landlady. A very funny and talented performer gone way too soon...
  6. Yes sir!
  7. "Freezin', rests his head on a pillow made of concrete... again"...
  8. "Well, I never thought I'd make it here in Hollywood. I never thought I'd ever want to stay"....
  9. "In one hand I've a bible, in the other I've got a gun"...
  10. Ok, laughed out loud!
  11. I think Bob Dylan may be the one artist that the most other artists have covered and have had hits doing his songs. The Byrds practically based their whole career (at least in the beginning) on Dylan covers.
  12. The Who. Can't Explain.
  13. A plumber who listens to NPR? You certainly don't fit the stereotype, Lee.
  14. I don't remember any '60s muscle car, HEMI or otherwise, ever even coming close to that kind of performance.
  15. By "main competitor," they obvious;y are referring to all-electric (not hybrid) cars. There's just not a whole lot to choose from yet in that category, so today the Leaf and the Tesla are "competitors." But to compare the Leaf to a Tesla in any way other than type of propulsion system is a joke!
  16. Tell us more about how you did it. What kit did you start with, what did you change, what did you scratchbuild, etc. We want to know!
  17. Wilkommen!
  18. Kit piece. I did nothing to it other than paint it.
  19. The license plate was made in Adobe Illustrator, printed out, and attached with Future. I also added the firewall support brackets (styrene strip with slices of hex-shaped styrene rod as bolt heads) and the steering column hand controls.
