  1. Just a guess... fog lights?
  2. I'm very good at editing... just ask Bill Coulter...
  3. Maybe we should have made this a magazine feature and given you a deadline!
  4. Maybe you should stay away from the "Off Topic Lounge?" Just sayin'...
  5. Well, that isn't your fault. Otherwise the model looks great. I really like the interior/exterior colors.
  6. It's not hard to do if you have the right stuff on hand...
  7. So google it. There is a ton of information out there.
  8. Nobody ever said it can. Did you read the story about that British university that I posted?
  9. It shouldn't be. They messed up the kit:
  10. That is mighty impressive work!
  11. Those are cool! One of my favorite cars of all time...
  12. What's happening there with the DODGE lettering on the front of the hood? It looks like the bottom half of the letters is missing...
  13. I've been to Toronto. Beautiful city. Fantastic mix of people and neighborhoods. We could learn a thing or two...
  14. Time to lock this. Reliable Resin has been discussed here many times before, always with the same results. Some people swear by him... some swear at him. Some have had great experiences, some have had terrible experiences. To keep rehashing this back and forth, over and over, is pointless. Obviously if you decide to deal with RR, you are taking a chance. You never know if you'll get the "good" RR or the "bad" RR. Like someone said earlier... let the buyer beware.
  15. Exactly. No "bully bidding" here, it's open to any and all offers as soon as it goes on sale. I guess they do things a little differently up there... Yes, dear...
  16. Because I build large scale, I find all sorts of material to use as upholstery on the seats and interiors of my models in their sewing section. I have found velour that makes perfect scale "carpet," I have found vinyl material that looks exactly like scale "leather," etc. No LHS is going to have a sewing section or carry that sort of stuff. HL does. In their scrapbooking section they sell small sheets of paper with all sorts of patterns printed on them... dozens and dozens of different patterns. I have used paper printed to look like wood in my interiors, and I found a sheet printed to look like mother-of-pearl that was perfect for the gauge panel on a Pocher Mercedes dash. I know this isn't a model car... but the seat was upholstered with vinyl material I found at HL. It looks exactly like in-scale leather: And the gauge panel of my Mercedes, using a piece cut from scrapbooking paper found at... you guessed it... HL:
  17. In my experience too many people form their opinion on a topic without even knowing the facts of the issue. They base their opinion on preconceived ideas and beliefs.. in other words, they form an opinion that conforms to what they already believed beforehand. For example, if I believed (for whatever reasons) that electric cars were goofy and will never replace gas-powered cars, I might think that the new Electro 2000 that just came on the market is a useless piece of junk, based on what I already think of electric cars... even though the reality might be that the Electro 2000 is a huge technological step forward and a very good car. That's what I meant when I mentioned forming an opinion based on facts instead of emotion. All I'm saying is that before you form your opinion on any topic, you owe it to yourself to at least understand both sides of the issue as well as you can before you come down on one side or the other. Everyone has an opinion on everything... might as well try to make that an informed opinion. That way, people can debate a topic intelligently, pro and con, instead of based on emotion or misunderstanding of the topic. That's just common sense, not limited to this topic, but to life in general.
  18. What's a "bully bid?" I never heard of that.
  19. Well, one thing I know for sure... with more and more "traditional" hobby shops going out of business, there are fewer and fewer places for model car builders to shop (that is, if you prefer shopping in physical "brick and mortar" stores)... so HL seems like a reasonable alternative. If you've never been, at least do yourself a favor and check one out before you write them off.
  20. Now that's funny...
  21. I didn't post any details of the issue, or what I think of it. All I said is look it up if you're unsure of the issue, so you can form an informed opinion. We're not here to debate government issues, but since "the issue" kept being brought up here, I thought it might be a good idea for people to educate themselves before they form an opinion. I'm not taking sides. I didn't even say what I think of the issue... I only said look it up and get the facts before you form an opinion.
  22. The specific products in question were never provided before the mandate. PM me if you want to know more.
  23. I know, I know... no politics here, so I am not going to give my opinion on this, I just want people to understand (without getting political or preachy) what the whole HL issue actually is. For the record (and I think a lot of people don't really understand this)... it's not a question of any corporate policy. It was a government policy that the feds were trying to force onto HL (and others) that the Supreme Court found to be unconstitutional. In other words... it's not what HL was doing, but what the government was trying to force them to do. Big difference. We can't talk about the specifics here, but If anyone doesn't understand the issue, l urge you to look it up online and read up on it and you'll understand exactly what the issue was and why the Supreme Court ruled that the government was acting unconstitutionally. You might not agree with the court ruling... but at least you will understand the issue and be able to base your opinion, pro or con, on facts instead of emotion. Now back to our regularly scheduled topic...
  24. Those "cup holders" would be pretty useless on the road! I remember those circular indentations stamped into the inside of the glove box door on my old '67 Belvedere. I assumed they were supposed to be "cup holders," but they're actually useless as such (unless the car isn't moving)...
