In Illinois it's illegal to text in the car. You can't use a hand-held phone while driving. That law should be passed in all 50 states.

MIRRORS! How many times have I seen a model of a late-model car posted here with no mirrors, either inside or out? Constantly. Nothing screams "model" more than a model that is obviously missing all the mirrors. Another pet peeve: 90% or more of people who build a Willys leave that raised molded-in edge on the clear windshield clear. That raised lip reperesents a rubber gasket and should be painted flat black. No 1:1 Willys windshield ever had a raised, clear lip molded into the windshield glass! And do I even have to mention the "magic floating alternator?"

I like the black Fairlane best.

I like the colors... it looks very "old timey"... I suggest you either get some gold BMF or some brass paint and detail the hood hinges, it looks pretty nice when done that way. Don't mean to hijack your thread, but a photo is worth a thousand words... BTW... glad to see you were inspired by us guys who are into these old cars. They're fun to build and detail.

Silver paint and a pointy brush... Or even a fine point silver Sharpie. Actually what I do for tiny stuff like door locks is first is cut the small circle of foil to size while it's still on the backing sheet, then use the tip of the blade to pick it up, and then I just press it into place on the model and burnish it. I don't put a piece of foil on the body and then try to trim the edges... I cut the foil to size and shape on the backing sheet. Try it... you'll like it.

I love the variety. Of the episodes I saw last night, there was a Miura, a Cord, an XKE, a '41 Plymouth "Businessman's Coupe," a brass-era 1911 Packard, a '63 split-window Corvette, and more... and he drove them all on the street. Not just putt-putting around in a parking lot or private space, but really driving them, in traffic, on the street. Great stuff.

Yes, after watching all those episodes last night, I was impressed by his "car guy" level of knowledge. He does know his stuff. And the really cool thing is, he actually drives all of his cars. They're not just sitting there to look at... he enjoys them. He even did a burnout with his '63 Jaguar XKE...

I don't think yellow wipers, door locks and gauges would be "factory stock"... However, you do get points for the model having mirrors, both inside and out.

I might be the only person on this entire forum who, until yesterday, had never seen "Jay Leno's Garage." I mean, I knew it existed, but I had never seen an episode... so last night as I was surfing around on youtube as I often do, I clicked on it–and I loved it! In fact I liked it so much I watched probably 8-10 episodes in a row! I don't know if it's scripted, but it seems like Jay (and his guest, if there is one) just basically talks off the top of his head, very casually... but he knows his stuff. He gets into detail, but not so much that you have to be a gearhead to understand what he's talking about. Very well done, very informative, just the right amount of info to keep "car guys" interested but not so much to overwhelm those who don't know as much about cars. I'm a Jay Leno fan, I'm a car fan, I'm a youtube fan... finally I got with the program, so to speak, and put all three together... I'll be watching more episodes again tonight. And if it's possible that there are actually others out there like me who had never seen it, check it out.

Full-detail 1/8 Dodge Daytona or Plymouth Superbird... Either or... I'm not that picky... ...with the option of building it stock or NASCAR (with appropriate NASCAR decals for an actual, real car that really ran in NASCAR). Or... any 1/8 scale brass era or classic era car that has never been done at that scale. Again, nut fussy... it can be American or European, but it has to be 1930 or earlier. A stock 1/8 Model T would be cool...
